HTPC with 2 zones

Date:March 27, 2014
This remote system controls 8 devices.
Just built high end HTPC and hooked into Denon X3000 along with AppleTV, Wii, PS3, Roku, 3D Blu Ray, DRV. That is 8 devices right there.
Still have the main TV and zone2 TV that need to be controlled. Took the game stations off remote to fit TVs. Other than the 8 device limitation, this unit is awesome. Our interior walls are insulated a bit and creates dead spots for Wi-Fi. Eliminated dead spots using a 2nd router in AP mode. Now I can carry this keyboard anywhere in house and control zone1/zone2 HTPC & Entertainment center. Upstairs & main floor. Just make a list of every physical device with its model # and you can breeze thru setup. I hid the IR blaster box on shelf behind TV. It bounces signals very well and hits all my devices spread out and in different cabinets.

Clever Idea ... Hard to Understand and Setup

Date:March 10, 2014
:Sony TV and Apple TV
If this works it will be great, but getting there has been a challenge. There are many "moving pieces" and multiple redundant ways of configuring using a browser or an iPhone or an iPad, etc. It took a weekend of tinkering and running through the setup procedure multiple times on different devices before my simple system (a Sony TV and an Apple TV) worked in unison under the command of the Harmony Smart Keyboard and Harmony Hub. Persevere with the setup process, don't make assumptions about how it should work and don't skip any steps. If all else fails, wait until tomorrow after a good night's sleep, then start over from the beginning ... you've overlooked something!

Good start, but not without some minor issues...

Date:March 8, 2014

Just purchased this product and all in all am very pleased with its functionality.
Setup is smooth except for the first step where your smart device (phone/tablet) needs to connect to the hub. The phone app tries to scan for the smarthub, which, if you have a secured network, it will not find. Not a lot of instruction on how to work around this, but I eventually found that in this scenario, you use bluetooth to connect to the hub and can then enter your network key to connect the hub to your WiFi network. Once past that, the rest comes a lot easier.
On the smart app (Android) occasionally when an activity is selected the app will report "starting activity" and the spinner that is displayed just spins and nothing happens. Unfortunately, there is no way to break out of the application other than to force (reboot) your remote (phone) off. You're dead for about 5 minutes for the duration of the restart. This doesn't happen often, but an exit plan would be a suggested improvement.
99% of the time, it works well and is rock solid. I don't believe the product will disappoint.
