I've used several Logitech mice, and this one by far is the best I've used. Logitech won my loyalty a few years ago with a programmable multi-button mouse, since I actually re-programmed all but the left and right buttons. I primarily use this mouse for drafting, so I program each button to perform a specific tasks via "keystroke assignment"... even the wheel left and right buttons - and have really become accustomed to the layout and feel, which is great. I honestly feel lost when I use other non-Logitech mice.
The battery life is phenomenal. I've even considered buying multiple as back-ups in case Logitech decides to discontinue the manufacturing of this model.

Maybe a strange analogy, but it's a bit on the large side, and long and slender with a bit of heft to it. The tracking on this mouse is fantastic, and the ergonomics and weight feel perfect. I've had many, mice, and whenever I have to use another, I really appreciate the LX7.
I have the VX Revolution also, but the texture on the thumbrest reflects heat and therefore gets hot and uncomfortable very quickly. The LX7 is comfortable for hours at a stretch. I also much prefer the Optical tracking sensitivity to the laser. Seems much smoother.
I agree with the other reviewer that suggested they keep everything the same but improve the switches -- and perhaps find a way to integrate the receiver into the mouse during storage like VX Revolution.
Other than that it's a perfect mouse I've used daily for over a year.

I bought two LX7's about 1.25 years ago. Despite the fact that one is now faulty with a false-firing left-button, their ergonomics, weight, balance, feeling, accuracy, usability, and design are all 5-STAR! I only rated 4 since 1.25 years is a short time for a mouse with no moving parts other than micro-switches and I can't choose 4.5 stars.
I recently replaced the faulty LX7 with an LX8 thinking it's model number suggested it was an improved version of the LX7. I now know better. The LX7 is the premiere mouse. The LX8, like many of the current crop of newer models, is just a newer, cheaper, lighter, and more gimmicky that can't be held without inadvertently moving the cursor or firing the extra Back/Next buttons on the upper body edge where your hand sits. I uploaded a separate review of the LX8 but it hasn't been posted yet.
The key to the LX7's greatness is its solid weight, smooth symmetrical body design, and the intelligent placement of the extra Next/Back buttons on the top of the shell below the scroll wheel. This prevents their firing unless you really want to. Yes, this makes them a bit less convenient but it makes the most critically important features of clicking and moving or maintaining cursor location without triggering the Back/Next buttons totally excellent!
The smooth contour of the body also allows both left and right-handed users to hold the mouse at a 45 degree angle in your hand - a position many find to be the most natural as it allows the mouse body to fit the inner cup of your hand and completely eliminates hand stress and Carpal type injuries.
Either Logitech really worked on the design for this one or it was a wonderful cosmic accident. Regardless, it is the best mouse I've ever used in the 30 years that mice have existed.
I relegate mouse usage into two categories:
Accurate and stable:
This requires accurate and stable movement for graphics and fine text editing
Fast and Convenient:
This category is best for browsing or gaming. I put gaming in the faster less-accurate category because, once you blast the bad guy into pieces, you don't need or want to keep the cursor on the same pixel, Instead, you are running down an next alley to steal a car.
I use mice for their graphics, design, fine screen control where you need to select and remain on a pixel; select a small text area; need to accurately trace a motion if painting or pixel editing; or select a stock in a tiny font in a stock trading program on a large flat panel.
For such accurate uses, it is paramount that the mouse be heavier, stable, and not move when you click the buttons. The newer mice with lighter and more sculpted bodies with more buttons don't work for this need. They may be OK for those who want to click actions but fail miserably when you need to trace lines, find text, or do other things where the mouse movement needs to be very accurately controlled at the pixel level between movements.
Newer lighter mice with sculpted bodies and more prominent extra buttons like the LX8 or the similar Microsoft 5000 only fit a hand in one straight position. With such mice, the mouse moves very significantly when you move your finger to click a button. This makes them almost unusable for detailed graphics or screen work where you expect and require the mouse not to move at all when you click.
The LX7 is totally stable, doesn't move when you click, doesn't jump the cursor when you adjust, and fits the hand any number of ways.
For all the above reasons, I rate the LX7 near-perfect by focusing on being a mouse and not a game controller. As such, I am trying to find another LX7 locally. I already returned an LX8 I just bought to replace the LX7 as well as a Microsoft 5000 which suffers the same problems as the LX8 but to a lesser degree. Long live the LX7!
I urge Logitech not to discontinue the LX7. If you want to make an upgrade, keep its entire body, weight, buttons and interface EXACTLY as is - just improve its micro-switches so it doesn't misfire after a year or two and maybe add laser tracking. It already works GREAT as it is!

I own three of these. One for my desktop, one for my laptop and a third that I keep in my laptop case for traveling. They all work great and some are at least 2 years old. I'm also left handed, and this mouse works great in my hand, unlike many right handed biased mice.

This mouse has been GREAT for about a year and a half now, but just recently after my hours upon hours of gaming, the mouse wouldn't register my clicks, or movements.
I cleaned it and a replaced the batteries, and it still did register anything in game. But outside the game, it works just fine? So i do not know, but over all, GREAT MOUSE!

I have owned two of these and they are fantastic. The first fell off of the side of a ship into the ocean, but I used to move it around a lot in my laptop bag before that and it never had a problem. The second is a tank. It has been lovingly knocked off of my desk a few times and still works fine. Very impressed.

I had this mouse for about 15 months before it was stolen from my office.
I also have an LX8 laser cordless for home use, and a V470 Bluetooth laser mouse for work travel. Of them all the LX8 is my favorite, but I had no problems with the LX7.
The LX7 seemed to track as well as the LX8 (optical v. laser, respectively).
For my large but slender male hands, the LX8 is the best fit ergonomically, but--again--I had no problems with the LX7. I would definitely recommend the LX7.
I never had any tracking or connectivity problems with the LX7.
The only thing I would change is the size of the dongle--make it smaller! There are a lot of mini and micro dongles out there now.

I had this mouse for over 2 years and during that time I found it to be great. Some very intense gamers don't like it because of the lack of buttons etc but for a quality budget mouse it is one worth getting. Very comfortable and great on batteries (It too me about a year to get through a set of good Li ion AA batteries). I only stopped using it after my laptop was knocked off my desk with the USB receiver plugged in. Amazingly, even though it had been bent almost 90 degrees upwards it still worked for another month or two before it finally quit. The first thing I did afterwards was buy another..

Logitech has usually proved to be one of the best in my experience, but this particular one was certainly an exception to the rule. It has awful control, and my computer won't go to sleep with the mouse plugged in. I thought maybe it was my surface (a gloss finish wood desktop), but I used a cheap Microsoft wireless mouse on it with no problems.

This is a GREAT BUY!!! It's perfect size for my hand and it's light. It's got all the features that makes it easy to use. And I don't even have to install the driver to use it. Plus, I tried using it with just one battery and it works!! (though it doesn't last as long as if you use two) but it's like, magic!!! I highly recommend it and the PRICE IS RIGHT!!!!

I have to say I am quite impressed with this little mouse. I've been using it for about eight months, and the Logitech SetPoint program still says the battery is "good".
There have been a couple little things where a lot of clutter between the mouse and receiver caused some nasty lag, but moving the clutter cleared everything up. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a wireless mouse, whether it be for a notebook or desktop.
I've known Logitech to make some extremely high quality hardware. If quality is what the customer wants, Logitech is what they're going to get, no compromises.

I bought my Logistic LX7 Cordless Mouse about 6 months ago and still have the original batteries in there and going strong. It is very easy to handle and control. I am buying one for my son. I would recommend this particular mouse to anyone. I had one previously and changed batteries every 2-3 days. As far as I am concerned this is the best for the price.
