Great device, outstanding ergonomics, but the Giant USB dongle with the extra long wire is so 90s, an outdated design.
Despite the unique and excellent ergonomics of this mouse I recommend against it because of the large USB dongle.

This trackball is the best out there for normal every day use. I've been using this for many years and love it. However, I just can't figure out why Logitech won't get their heads on straight and change this trackball to use the small USB wireless receivers that every other mouse out there uses. The long corded clunky wireless receiver that comes with this trackball is so annoying. I use this 90% of the time with my laptop, and then I there's this long cord for the receiver, strung all over my lap or legs.

Rating score is for the corded Trackman, been using a Trackman for 8-9 years & love it. Was going to move up to a wireless Trackman for my Laptops, until I read the reviews concerning the large corded receiver. Having a corded receiver defeats the wireless designation. Seems like everyone else has Blu tooth or a USB stick, Logitech is lagging behind in this technology.Presently will be staying with the corded version, but will be the first to buy the wireless version when it has an updated receiver. We have a total of 2 desktops & 3 Laptops using Trackmans. We love our Trackmans.

Have used this mouse for years. Periodically have used others, but never found one that fits hand as well, or is as comfortable to use for long periods. I don't like constant hand movement as with a typical mouse. With TrackMan Wheel I can keep hand still with only slight thumb movement needed. I can rest my hand on a gel wrist pad and it stays comfortable all day. The marble moves smoothly and quietly. Ergonomically my hand rests in a natural position causing no strain in hand, wrist or fingers. The features meet all my needs and the buttons are easy to use. The cordless feature enables easy location and no clutter.

I have been using the Cordless Trackman Wheel for years now. I have 3 in the house and have my family converted too! As another reviewer stated, once you go to a trackball you'll never go back. Comfort, ease of use, and accuracy are unbeatable. Great for gaming too.
The only gripe is Logitech needs to update the wireless tech. Go Blu Tooth already! Lose the dongle.

I made the leap to this trackball back in the 90s (hard to believe the product has been around that long) and find myself still using it to this day. I've tried a bevy of other products but nothing quite matches the ease of the thumb control or the reliability. If you've never used a trackball (particularly a thumb trackball) - be patient! There is a learning curve. If you give it a couple of weeks - I guarantee you won't go back to a traditional mouse. You'll be wondering how you ever put up with traditional mice for all those years! My only gripe - update the USB dongle Logitech! :-) Give us no cord and some better range for the couch surfers out there.

I wonder if anyone from Logitech actually reads these. There's a LOT of us that love our trackball... and use it on a laptop. The ONLY thing wrong with this cordless trackball is the receiver. It's comfortable under my hand, smooth scrolling as well as smooth movement on the ball, and durable. I've dropped it, oh... more times than I can count and it's still going.
This is my second cordless Trackman since 2001, and I'm not easy on them at all. Just got this one less than a year ago and I don't think I could live without it.
Please, Logitech, hear our biggest request with our favorite product!

My first trackman was a wired version of this cordless one. I had that for several years without problems really. I hope they never stop making these. When I use a regular mouse I realize how much I really like my Trackman. All you use really is your thumb so this allows your arm to stay stationary and not get worn out after hours working on your computer. The way it is designed you hand rests comfortably without any strain as well. It takes some getting used to not having to move your mouse around the desk like playing with little racing car to get the wheels to spin. I really like this cordless version because if I am showing someone something on the computer I can allow them to sit in front of the computer while I take the mouse to the other end of the desk and move around the screen with the Trackman without having to hover over them. I have had this new Trackman about a year now and it seems very much like the old one in quality so I expect many years use from this. I end up changing the battery in it about once a month. You can tell when the battery needs to be changed by a noticeable drop in reaction time to what you do with the mouse and how it reflects on screen. It takes one AA battery which is a convienent size battery to have around. If you have arthritis or fibromyalgia or another condition where moving your arms a lot can be painful I suggest you try the trackman it can really save your arms and wrists.

Great mouse - been using one for over 10 years, but the receiver needs to be updated - it defeats the purpose of using a trackball if you have to lug the cord and receiver around (which also puts undo wear and tear on the receiver and it's cord). UPDATE THE RECEIVER, Logitech! We love your trackballs but they need to be 21rst century compatible!!!

I have been purchasing this model for many years now and still see it as the best design in the market place. I agree with another review that the trackball design is wonderful but the receiver is way too bulky. It should be updated to simple usb receiver with no wire or use bluetooth technology. If the design and engineering team improves on this, I know that it will be a best seller. I am very surprised that they haven't gotten to this yet.

I have been using this trackman for 8 years. I used it at my last job when I started having wrist/neck problems using an optical mouse; a coworker recommended it to me. When I decided to work at home in 2005, I bought the same one. I absolutely love it. I am an editor, and I'm all over the desktop for very long periods of time. I love it! I do agree with others that bluetooth would be nice, but it's not that important to me. Buy it, you'll never go back to a mouse.

I've been using this trackball for years. I came to the website to check if it had been updated yet. The one problem I have with it is the receiver is bulky. I use it with a laptop, and it would be awesome if it either was bluetooth or had one of those small receivers that looks like a thumbdrive-- or doubled as a thumbdrive!

Not as good as the wired version

I'm a huge fan of the wired version of this trackball, but when I tried using the cordless, I noticed that the ball doesn't move as smoothly and it seemed to not be nearly as sensitive as the wired version. For example, if i spin the ball really fast on the wired version, the ball will shoot across the screen and not miss a beat, however, if you try to do that with the cordless version, it will often miss a ton of "reads" and the cursor won't move very far. Until Logitech improves the receiver, I'll stick to the wired version.

Takes a couple of days to get used to, but that was 12 years ago and I would not use anything else!
I do a lot of intensive audio and other editing that used to require a lot of intensive wrist strain. All gone now.
Thanks Logitech!

This is a great mouse. I have an older model of it and the receiver is attached via a very long cord. I would really be interested in seeing this mouse with Bluetooth capability for use with my gaming laptop.
