Great Product - Going on 8 years of use!

Date:March 14, 2010
I have been using the TrackMan Wheel Mouse for eight years now and it's been probably one of my best computer purchased ever!
Model #T-BB18 Part #804360-0000
It have very reliable, solid and performs like the day it was new! I have never had any problems with it and other than the occasional cleaning of the ball and three pivots, there is no other maintenance involved.
I'll probably buy a new one within the next year or two, the finish on the base is worn off and starting to look a little ragged. Heck maybe I'll just clean it up give a coat of new paint!
I cannot express how well this product has performed for me and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT to anyone considering a Logitech Trackball product!

More coming!

Date:December 10, 2010
Hmm, wrote another review that was not posted, probably because I erroneously thought this product had been discontinued. As of 12/7, of the ~27 sites I visited all, except 1, were "out of stock" with 2 announcing "discontinued".
However, after submitting a "support request" I was advised that "in 3 - 4 weeks" it should be back in stock (at least here).
I can not say enough about this Trackman. 5* all categories! I won't repeat all that has been said before, except to say I found 1 reviewer who started off stating why trackballs s..., then ended with recommending this product. There were also several MD's who recommended this product.
So, if you are looking to buy one, and found none, know that, according to Logitech support, more are on the way.

9 YEARS AND STILL GOING

Date:November 26, 2010
I've had mine for 9 years and would never think of switching to a diff style. The silver finish started to ware off some a few years back and decided to go buy another. To my panicked surprise the retailer that I originally purchased it form no longer carried this track bal,l THE SEARCH WAS ON. After a long search I finally found one and 3 years later the new one is still in its box just itching for my original to die.
I use mine for gaming, small business applications and general web surfing.

Once you've gone TrackMan you'll never go back man

Date:November 25, 2010
I used this one for years, until my cat knocked it off of my desk and went playing with the ball (never to be seen again). I went back to an old-style retired mouse that I had kept. I had forgotten how much pain I used to have in my mouse hand! Within a week, the carpal tunnel was back, and the painful numbing tingle between my shoulders also returned. I had my excuse to upgrade to a cordless TrackMan. The pains in the hand are gone, the back is improving, and I am still in love with Trackman. Better than touchpad. The best idea for a mouse. EVER

Easy to Use, Great Durability

Date:November 6, 2010
I've used the same corded Logitech Trackman Wheel for over 10 years. I've never had any problems with it. It is only made for right-handers (sorry southpaws!), but fits the hand naturally, and is especially useful if you don't have the space for a mouse pad.
It requires occasional cleaning of the ball and 3 pivot points as dirt and oils from your hand will collect there. I clean the ball with a damp cloth and a little dishwashing detergent. I clean the pivot points with a dry cloth.
ONE CAUTION--the pivots are a small ball bearing, and can be pushed out of their slot and lost--which is why I'm buying a new Trackman after 10 years. Otherwise, it could go on indefinietly.
NOTE: I have also used the CORDLESS version of this track ball--DEFINITELY NOT RECOMMENDED! We bought 18 for our engineering office--they often had to be reset and all failed permanently within 6 months!

Long-Time User Looking to Score Again

Date:October 27, 2010
An outstanding product, of which I am on my third. Have one for work and play for both my laptop and desktop! Good durability and ease of maintenance are its strongest points. If you could release a model with programmable buttons at the ring and/or pinky fingers, I'll never look to another dealer; I'll succumb wholeheartedly to the addiction.

Great buy

Date:October 26, 2010
Bought mine 6 years ago and still going strong. Have had to take a part 3 times just to clean the contact points from normal use. Greatest buy ever. No more searching for mouse space, or not reading cause I'm on this or that. Takes a little getting used to using your thumb but after a little while it's easy.

A mouse for life

I have been using the predecessor to this mouse for as long as I can remember (maybe 15 years ?), all day long, most days of the work week.
It was named the Trackman Marble at the time, the only difference is that it had a middle button instead of the wheel.
Model number: T/CH11 Part number: 804122-1000
S/N: LTC62507342
This is the only piece of computer equipment that I have kept so long, and it's still working great. All the rest (computer, screen, keyboard, etc.) have been replaced multiple times.
My thanks to Logitech for manufacturing such a well designed and robust piece of essential equipment !
Highly recommended, obviously !

Thumbs up!

Date:October 19, 2010
The Trackman Wheel is at first a bit odd looking, and decidedly odd feeling. Then as you discover that the old familiar ache you used to get from moving a mouse over a special pad is missing; you begin to appreciate the little device called the "Track man wheel". As you discover that you can send the cursor to the farthest parts of your desktop with only a few strokes of your thumb, you realize that where you used to use your whole hand and arm for communicating with your machine; now it's reduced to the efforts of one thumb and two fingers and you don't need to move your arm at all.
Yes, it's laziness and yes it's sloth. It's also time saving, work saving, and for those who deal with forms all day long; it's an increase in efficiency!

I am on my 3rd TrackMan and I keep coming back..

Date:October 11, 2010
This is a great trackball. It took some time to adjust to it from a mouse initially but now I would never go back to using a mouse.
I've used this type of trackball for the past 10 years.
This trackball desperately needs an update. Or maybe a new higher grade gaming version at least.
I am a Starcraft gamer and as such I use very high sensitivity with pointer acceleration disabled. The DPI of this trackball is too low and my accuracy is not what it should be.
I am tempted to try the new M570 but I am apprehensive because it's a cordless trackball. Cordless peripherals have traditionally been bad for competitive play.
If you ever redesign this trackball a few more configurable buttons would be nice. But the DPI resolution is the most important thing.
Ball weight could also be increased for added accuracy at the cost of speed, or maybe sell multiple weighted balls?

I see people dragging mice on the desktop, and it reminds me of a caveman with a chisel and a big rock. Get wit hit man, simple, tireless and on the money accurate. The absolute best. Now all I need is a job so I can afford the light-up keyboard WOW!

Perfection

Date:September 20, 2010
Got this mouse when I was ten, and I was instantly converted. I had the model with the red LED lights near the ball, it looked amazing!
I sold it (like an idiot), and had to buy a new one later when I realized that I hated using a computer without one.
It is now the only mouse I use!

The best mouse ever!

Date:September 3, 2010
I have been using the TrackMan for about 15 years. I am on my 3rd or 4th one at this point. I have one for my doc station at work, one at home on my PC, and one for travel that sits in my laptop bag. Not a big fan of unplugging things. I find it hard to use a regular mouse because it just doesn't make sense. LOL I have converted everyone in my department to using them and they love them! Drafting all day long is a breeze with this mouse. At the end of the day my hand isn't tired and my arm isn't killing me.

No more wrist pain!

Date:September 3, 2010
I often had a very sore wrist when using a traditional mouse, so I purchased the TrackMan Wheel. Wow! My wrist pain went away nearly instantly! The shape of this trackball is very natural and ergonomic. I have long hands, and it fits much better than a regular mouse.
Many people shy away from track balls, because they say they are too hard to use or not precise enough. I didn't find this to be the case with the TrackMan Wheel. I set the sensitivity a bit low initially, but within a few days I was able to turn it up and perform tasks at the same speed I could with a mouse.
You won't find any extra functions (browser navigation, zoom, etc.) on this trackball. In summary however, it is a great everyday or introductory trackball, and very comfortable.

Great Purchase

Date:August 29, 2010
I first used this at a relatives house when I was visiting and hated it. By the end of the week it became the best pointing device I have ever used. After you make the adjustment, nothing will ever be as nice or fast.
I used this on windows, and then when I switched to Mac OS. I have tried to follow the bluetooth mouse trend, but ended up sticking with this trackball. I highly recommend this device to anyone (unless you're left handed).
I have owned this for 4 years, and haven't had a single problem. Looks like the day it was purchased.
You only need to clean it occasionally.

Best Mouse I've Ever Had

Date:August 23, 2010
Got this mouse 7 years ago as a birthday gift (I was 12 and had just gotten into gaming) and i've used it ever since. The only reason i'm going to buy a new one is because no matter how great a Logitech product is, cords can't be made puppy-proof D:
By far the best mouse i've ever used, wouldn't use any other.

Date:July 30, 2010
I have used the trackman for well over 5 years. I have had 2 or 3 in that time. At one time, mine quit working and I went to every store in town until I found one. I cannot be without. I just hope Logitech NEVER stops making them.

Still the best!

Date:July 27, 2010
I have used this trackball since the Year 2000 (yup, the same one!). It is still wonderful to have so much cursor movement with so little physical motion. Even as a left-handed person, I have no trouble controlling it.
One just leaves the device sitting in place, and guides the cursor through a slight twitch of the thumb. NO SCRAPING A MOUSE AROUND on a desktop!
People who borrow my system at first freak over the different design, then, like me, become hooked on the comfort and accuracy.
The configurable buttons and scroll wheel are great features, too.
