These speakers are still awesome even though my friend sold them to me after having them for a year and I've been blasting them for six months with every given moment.
I highly recommend these speakers for anyone who is looking for something simple and loud.

I have had these speakers over 5 years now and they are even better than berfore. Since I've had them for so long, they went numerous applications. They were first computer speakers, IPOD deck speakers, garage outdoor speakers, moved three times, now in a home theater 2.1 configuration for my bedroom. I can honestly say that these speakers are awesome at all levels and can handle anything that you throw at them. I thought about getting rid of my HT Definitive Super Towers to replace them with this compact system.

I brought these more than a year ago and I was happy the day I brought them. As I played Xbox 360 or the Wii I was blown away how it handled itself with intense situations especially on the 360. The bass.... forget about it. I had a multiple complaints for loud music playing and noise. I don't care anyways. This system was built to be loud. The mids and highs are very crisp but i pay close attention to bass. I never pass halfway on volume especially on the bass. But overall it is an awesome system and if you don't believe me one of my pictures that was hanging on a wall fell because it was too loud.

right out of the box
nice packing by the way
it did its thing
i would recomend putting the sub at 12 o'clock on the controler.
there is a click stop. use it.
that is the sweet spot.
on your computer,
there is a little speaker icon.
put that at 50% and leave it there
if you watch a youtube or something similar
you can crank the speaker icon on that all the way up.
recomended. lots of video camera sound etc
dont get carried away with the subwoofer deal.
it can take it. just make sure the output of your computer is set at 50%.
the sub and the satellite speakers can do their thing.
too much "pre amping" will mess things up
remember
there are 200 watts of clean power going on here.
start with these recomendations and play around
im likin it
you could mix a album or have a party with this setup
just remember the "pre amping"
you dont want to crack up
RIGHT?

I got my Logitech Z-2300 speakers for Christmas about 5 years ago, and they still work like the day that I bought them. Granted, I haven't been blasting the subwoofer and I haven't even gone past half-power, but that's because there's literally no need for it.
The subwoofer is so powerful that I only need the bass half-way up, and the satellites are so crisp and clean that there's virtually no distortion. Furthermore, if I want to turn the bass up, I can be sure the satellites will keep up and not be drowned out. It's a very configurable setup too, I tend to use custom-made equalizer and I can't even describe how well the system adjusts to any change in frequency. It's pretty impressive.
I'm almost tempted to say that I'll be buying another set of Z-2300s once these die -- but I don't think these will die for a while, and by the time they do, Logitech better come out with the Z-2400 (or will it be the Z-3300?)

I bought these a year ago, based largely on the fantastic reviews. The system IS awesome- and the bass everything people say it is. However, after a year, one of the speakers largely failed; called customer service, and very promptly they sent an entire new system. So, good for Logitech!

I love these speakers. The bass is great and easy to control. The highs are somewhat subtle but good enough.I currently have three sets.My wife, son and myself use them.I compared these to my Klisph 2.1 system and these blow them away. They reproduce bass the Klisph can't touch, although the Klisph do have better highs.Overall with any movie or sound track these are far the better choice.
at high volume levels. At lower levels it's pretty much if you prefer highs or lows with the biggest difference in the lows.Logitech wins hands down.

Great set. Bought them about 2 years ago at a Circuit City before they went under. Was the best PC speakers I ever owned. They have lasted without hickup. 6 months ago my PC went down and I let it sit for a while untill I decided to repair it. These speakers even after sitting for so long, worked like brand new.
Feature wise and setting wise it's a dissapointment. The Bass setting on the volume control is pointless as it seems even moving it a tad low almost immediately shuts off the bass. And turning the bass up (Why would you want to on this unit anyways) creates an odd amount of Bass distortion. Very odd for a THX-cert. item. Either way. My advice is keep it in the middle and rock it. Sounds great.
Depending on the music you listen to though this thing will be VERY lacking. Mids and highs are WEAK. Highs aren't so bad with a bit of tweeking in a software-controlled equilizer. But mids are almost non-existant. Its plain wack for mids.
Gaming sounds GREAT! If you're a FPS player this thing really surrounds the room and it's perfect for listening to footsteps, rumbles, grenades... Mainly because of the mid blockout. Most games have alot of distortion durring the map focused on mid ambients. So this set makes focusing on certain aspects in-game much easier. That is, if you play with your ears like me. Otherwise, things like grenades and gunfire sound great too if not.
Bottom line, I love this set despite the lack of tuning and bass control. Performance and quality are great though they should of did something to create a more select-able mid range. I'm no audio freak but I know what's needed in a 2.1 set, and this thing is abnormal in it's sound design.
Lucky for me I mostly listen to rap so it's great.
BUY THIS SET!

I Got these Speakers about a year ago and I am completely blown away!! I can not believe how loud they are and how Much the BASS SHAKES my house! I have yet to turn this system up more than maybe 2/3, I don;t want to hurt my house! I even put a set in my car. I bought a 400W power inverter from Home Depot and hooked it into my car's cigarette lighter and just put the sub in the back seat and the speakers under the front seat and you can't even tell that it is just a pair of computer speakers!!!!!! They shake the car just like a set of tens. I would recommend these speakers to anyone...Buy them and enjoy the bang for your buck!!!

Straight and to the point: This speaker set has incredible low end bass, mediocre highs, and abysmal mids - especially where the sub and satellites should meet.
In my opinion, a great speaker set requires almost NO equalizing. This set does not meet that standard. I find it difficult to coax out the highs before the input side is clipping and impossible on the output side. But I like my highs VERY bright. If you don't mind discernible, not loud, highs, you'll be fine.
The mids are deplorable. Frequencies are literally MISSING. No amount of equalizing will bring them back from their death in the subwoofer or the satellite's inability to reproduce them. Beyond the missing freq's, the set has absolutely no reproduction of bass drum attack. All you get is a low rumble from the sub leaving you wondering if the bass drum was being hit by a roll of toilet paper or a wad of socks. On the upside, the voice range is warm and presents an acceptable stage.
Again the bass below 175Hz to it's 35hz "limit" and just a bit beyond that limit is amazing. I have come to the conclusion that the sub's only downfall is the port. Why tune it to such a high freq? Why put it in at all? For THX certs? How about shooting for SQ instead. I bet if I built a sealed box for it, this sub would shine brighter than it does already...I might even find some of those missing freqs...
As a final statement I'd like to clear up why I expect so much from the sub...you may say it's unfair to ask it to go so far into the midrange. To that I say, when you have 2.5" satellites and nothing else between them and the sub...you really only have one choice. Bummer.

Greetings:
My first experience with Logitech was when I used a Logitech mouse for the first time. Its design and quality has served me beyond any logical expectation.
My second experience with Logitech comes after my small contribution to the computer age while in graduate school at Michigan State. The Logitech Z-2300 is, without question, the absolute best computer speaker system ever envisioned. I spend a lot of time on my computer and listen to music many hours a day. Once I installed the Z-2300 system, my world expanded exponentially via Cd's, DVDs, and Internet radio. At 67, I have a long history enjoying good music as a member of dance, jazz, blues, and rock bands for most of the 1960s.
The quality of the Logitech Z-2300 manifests itself first, through crisp highs, into the mellow mid-range, and last, awesome lows from one ot the best Subwoofers on the market.
I only wish I would have bought the Logitech Z-2300 many years ago. Thank you.

WOW, where do I start? I was never a fan of 2.1 speaker systems until I decided to buy these after reading millions and millions of positive reviews about them and doing some research about speakers a couple of days ago. Let me tel you, I've tried many 2.1 speakers and know that Bose do stand at Logitech's level with the sound quality, but that company knows nothing but to over charge for everything they make. So what do I conclude? None of their expensive computer speakers are worth a penny to me. The only thing I would recommend from them is a home speaker system and the Around the Ear headphones which have beautiful Noise Cancelling and sound.
Back to the subject, I've used the Z-5500 and they're insane. Without a doubt, the Z-5500's are one of the best 5.1 speakers on the market. 5/5 for them. Now judging from the quality and sound from these and the Z-5500 from Logitech, there is no difference whatsoever except for the fact that the Z-5500 are 5.1 and the Z-2300 are 2.1. I am telling anyone, the Z-2300 speakers are worth every penny. The sound is so crisp, clear, and rich. You can hear every instrument and vocal in ANY song you play. The bass is insane. What do I mean by insane? If you live in a house just make sure it's built strong enough before you turn up the bass and volume all the way up on these speakers. If you live in an apartment, make sure you sign an agreement with your fellow neighbors not to call the cops when they feel the walls shaking and trembling. Did I mention the volume on these? Forget it, you will never get to a point where you would want their full volume. Do you know how loud they are? LOL. You will not believe it. EXTREMELY LOUD. I would seriously go deaf if I put them all the way up. So you're wondering if they sound static when they're all the way up with the bass at 100%? Hahaha. Nope! The sound is still clear with no static noise. It's hard to believe I know, like it was hard to believe when I experienced that myself. I was extremely impressed that with the volume at 100% and bass at 100% I experienced no change in sound quality whatsoever.
If you are looking for 2.1 speakers for your computer, games, music, or even TV, get these. Do not look at Bose, Altec Lansing, Creative, and whatever else company is out there. I SWEAR you will love me after you get these. I can't show you in words how good these are, but I can only try to convince and persuade you. Don't over think on which 2.1 speakers to get after reading this. Just go out there and get them, that's all.
