My brother bought this mouse and also has a G5 and they both died on him, actually the g5 looses connection, but its all because of that braided cable coming out of the mouse.
The G9 was dead, and all i had to do was take it apart, cut the cable where it enters the mouse rewire the cable and fix that ground wire that gives all the problems and ta daaaa!!! it came alive :)!

I've had this mouse for over a year. It was awesome! Being able to switch sensitivity in game is great for sniping! But now it's dead. Mouse began loosing connection temporarily with the computer about 2 weeks ago. No the lights flash red and it looses connectivity altogether. The problem is with the cable, which is braided. Originally, I thought the braiding was cool as it seemed to be more flexible. I was wrong. The braiding gets rigid and stiff where it meets the mouse. It begins to fray. And that's when the problem started. Looking through the reviews, I see others have had the same issue.
I've had problems with Logitech mice before (the poor quality G7). They have always replaced the mouse no questions asked. But this one doesn't have a serial number or even a part number on it. Maybe it's on the box (long gone now). I'll try to contact support and get it replaced. But the flaw in this corded design plus the price, makes it awful difficult to recommend this mouse.

I bought this mouse thinking w/ the price tag on this mouse, it's got to be something good. I was wrong... From the first day of use, the mouse worked sometimes, and sometimes just decides it needs to take a rest. I thought it was odd, so I updated the firmware thinking it would fix the problem. It didn't... The problem got worse and worse until one day one of the wires (red) decided to come out of nowhere. This mouse is probably one of the worst mouse Logitech ever made. I have used over 10+ mice made by Logitech, and this one is definitely the worst of all, not to mention the price I paid for this mouse... I regret spend that much on this mouse, and I definitely wouldn't recommend anyone to buy this mouse... be warned!

I was ecstatic about this mouse when I first bought it a year ago...But as of yesterday I dont think I will ever buy another G9 unless they improve their design. I was very disappointed when my mouse suddenly started having connectivity issues, which I recognized to be a faulty wire. The only problem I have with this mouse is a pretty major one and that is the poor quality wire that is used in the construction of the usb cable, plus the braided wire inside doesnt help the design. It makes the cable to stiff and cause the small wires inside to break. The braiding also starts poking through the insulation.
I expect my $100 mouse to last me more than a year. Lets hope my wireless one I just bought last me longer...

The mouse is simple good workmanship and just enough features you need from an everage user perspective. It's a little pricy but thats what you expect if you buy better quality. The scroll wheel dispointed me though. The fact that you there is no resistance or click when you turn it make it very difficult to use while web surfing or scrolling pages. It's almost impossible to hone in on a particular page or line of text. The wheel is extremly sensitive even if you adjust the level to the lowest available. Unless this type of scrolling wheel is what you need you are better are better of with one of their other products.

- First, I would like to say that this is the smoothest mouse I ever used and with the greatest response. It has definitely enhanced my gaming experience .
- Perhaps the only problem I personally encountered was the DPI buttons located right above the FIRE button. The fire button is too small and I keep pressing the DPI buttons by accident (must be just the way i grab the mouse). Also, it is easy to press the fire button by accident (while playing) when pressing the DPI buttons to change the resolution
- I was forced to disable the DPI buttons for those reasons.

This mouse was awesome when I first got it a year ago (June 08'), and I never had any problems with it. It was precise, comfortable, had easy to use software and had many awesome features that I took full advantage of. The big problem I had with it came up just a few days ago, the scroll wheel started to act erratically, it kept twitching up and down constantly without me even touching the mouse, and I had no control over it what so ever. It made browsing the internet and playing games impossible and annoying. I've tried every troubleshooting suggestion I could find on the the internet, and still no resolution. I'm very dissapointed with it considering I paid over $100 for it and I certainly won't be buying a replacement.

If someone where to benchmark all computer mice The G9 would stand victorious!
Quite simply the best gaming mouse in the world for a realistic price tag as well the change of body is very useful however its downsides are the placement of the speed up and slow down buttons as you could bump them by accident and it isn't as smooth as the G5 and the entire body thing dose seem pointless for most users who get into a familiar grip pattern with there mice
But if you want a great keyboard and mouse combo then go for a G19 and G9 setup and brag on to you friends about how good they all look aside you Nvidia/ATi video card :P

I got this mouse as a gift for new year. And i have been using it since then.
This mouse is amazing. It is so fast, the precision is incredible, and the SetPoint™ is awsome. This mouse is perfect for FPS and MMORPGs. All mouse buttons can be made as macros witch is awesome for MMORPGs. The weight tuning system is very nice, because i have big hands and some mouses feel very light to me. MicroGear™ is very good for sniper games, and camera in some MMORPGs. The only thing that i dont like is that the mouse is too big for some people. Logitech could have made the mouse a little smaller and put 2 grips with same shape and different size, because people with small hands have problems using it.
Overall, an exelent work Logitech.

Hello to All,
Considering I have only had this mouse for a week, I would like to say that I mainly bought the G9 because I needed a new one and I needed to upgrade. I definitely did my research and compared other products and decided to go with the G9 for various reasons.
My main reason was to acquire a mouse for gaming and design since I play games on the Windows XP partition and do my photoshop/3D designs in OSX Leopard (Apple OS) side.
I have to admit that mouse was recognized as soon as I plug it on the Mac side as well as for the Window. On the Mac side the buttons works fine but you cant setup profiles, macros, etc and all the great features of this mouse. But since I only play games on the Windows XP side when I ran the CD setup and changed all the settings to my personal choice it was easy and fast.
I would like to add that if you setup a default profile on the windows side and apply an specific LED color display it will remember those settings according to that profile once you boot up you Mac.
ergonomics i give it a 10+
thanks!

This mouse would have to be, by far, the best mouse I have ever used! Not only is it good in performance, it is also very comfortable. The weights that are placed inside the G9 also make a difference, I'm using 8g at the moment. This mouse has also noticeably increased my skill in gaming.
I would definitely recommend this mouse to anyone.
