I love this product with the following exception...
There is a button on the keyboard right above the number pad that says "PC"... this button can be programed to turn the PC off, hibernate or go into stand-by...
the last wireless keyboard I had, had this same button BUT it could also LOCK the PC... good in a business environment.
The bluetooth range is great, I have my computer under my desk and about 10' from the keyboard and mouse...
MUCH better than running a USB or PS/2 cables all over.
As far as the last reviews "No CAPS LOCK LIGHT"... on the LCD screen there is an indicator that lights when the caps lock is active along with the brief message on the screen.
I am recomending this combo pack to everyone... it is a good buy.

I haven't had one once of problems with this keyboard and mouse combination. It's very precise. I love the mouse's multiple scrolling features. I even have the reciever that plugs into the computer shrouded yet I never have any problems with connectivity. Even at long distances with the reciever in a very well hidden on the computer behind my desk, I still have no problems with connectivity. Battery life is another thing. The batteries last forever.

I love this key board it works great there is just two things about it that bug me. First the antenna needs to be pointed almost directly at the keyboard which can make it lose connection sometimes. Usually it is not a problem. The real problem for me is the lack of Caps Lock light. Its not something you would think would be a problem but it turns out to be a pain. The only indication you get to whether it is on or not is a message that pops up once when you hit the key and then it disappears. It is really easy to accidentally set the Caps Lock and then when you try to type a password just keep receiving error messages about wrong passwords before remembering to test for Caps Lock.

The keyboard is nice and it works just fine. I love the mouse! At the moment, buying this keyboard and mouse combo is the only way to get the Bluetooth version of the MX Revolution mouse. I love the mouse! It works wonderfully. The battery lasts ~10 days. I've never run the battery all the way down. I've not had any connection problems. I think the responsiveness is great.

I recently decided to move my PC out to the living room and hook it up to my 50" plasma TV. The effect is spectacular, but obviously I can't take a wired keyboard and mouse out there and compute normally, so I looked into buying a wireless setup. I came to Logitech since they seem to handle input devices pretty well all-round, and shelled out for one of their nicest keyboard and mouse combos (this one). I have to tell you, I'm not in any way disappointed. I play video games compulsively, and so I was a little worried about responsiveness. Thankfully, none of that's a problem. The keyboard and--more importantly--the mouse are very snappy and sensitive. I was elated to find out just how long each device will run on its respective battery source. The keyboard will run for months and months on a few AAs, but the mouse (intuitively) has steeper requirements and demands more frequent recharges. Not a problem, really, just stick it back in its dock. Most everything is well designed. The mouse is a great fit to my hand, but be warned that it is probably unfriendly to southpaws. The keyboard is a bit oddly laid out in places (the insert, and context menu buttons have been moved to nonstandard locations), but the multimedia and zoom keys are quite handy. I'm usually skeptical of screened keyboards, but this one comes with a built in calculator, and... I have to admit, I find myself using it on the fly a lot more than I thought I would. That said, these devices have a few too many ancillary features I find myself forced to turn off to simplify things. There is a search button on the top of the mouse that is far too easy to graze, and it's not difficult to accidentally hit the Media Center or Gadgets button on the keyboard. Thankfully, these are all simple to disable, but really they just got in the way in the first place. Otherwise, I am very happy with this keyboard and mouse combo, but I must issue an IMPORTANT WARNING to ANYONE CONSIDERING BUYING: MAKE SURE that you have a CLEAR LINE of SPACE between the EQUIPMENT and the BLUETOOTH RECEIVER. I sit across from my PC with the receiver plugged into one of the front USB ports, and there's no problem. Plugging into the back of the PC, however, SEVERELY impairs mouse movement. Make sure that your signal won't be blocked before you buy! Otherwise, I give this set a wholehearted recommendation.

I have a Logitech G19 for my gaming rig and I bought the Mx 5500 for my normal use computer and this thing is the best the only thing I see wrong is the lcd screen is not backlit but i guess without it being backlit it saves battery power also if you have some things in the way of the reciever the mouse will lag a bit but it can easily be fixed with a usb hub lcd screens works great mouse feels comfortable in your hand no pushinn connect buttons it connects when you plug it in scroll wheel on the mouse feels like butter when you get it going easy 5/5 for logitech keep it going.
P.S.
this keyboard blows the microsoft entertainment desktop off the board LOGITECH FTW!

I initially got this combo because my original wireless-keyboard-and-mouse combination was wireless, and kept displaying symptoms of interference. I figured that getting a Bluetooth set would fix that problem, and it has. Everything else has been icing on the cake. The mouse is the best mouse I've ever used before. haven't experienced any issues that others have reported; I've used everything on the mouse, with nothing but joyful success.
The keyboard has a few too many bells and whistles for me, but they are all conceivably useful. I haven't figured out how to use the email function, and don't really care too, but the time and temperature functions are useful; the temp that it displays is the actual indoor temp, not something that is pulled from a weather website. I don't have Vista, so I don't use the Vista dedicated features, but the management software included allows you to repurpose most, if not all of the buttons.
All in all, this is a good splurge for those of us that think a $160-$180 combo is too much normally. For those of you who aren't so concerned about price, but don't want to go nuts getting an uber top-of-the-line combo that costs thousands, seriously consider this one.

I've owned 2 bluetooth mouse/keyboard sets from Logitech. Cordless Elite with the MX900 mouse and the Cordless Desktop MX5000 Laser with the MX1000 mice. They worked fine until they didn't. They just ware-out, eventually.
My warranty expired a few months before the MX1000 began to double-click when clicked. Logitech offered me half price on the Revolution 5500, I believe the cheapest of the two bluetooth combo sets.
All the negative reviews posted here, by users, had me concerned that this wasn't going to be as useful as the older products. Lots of SetPoint issues were sighted - lack of customization, flywheel issues and spotty connectivity. Others didn't like to feel of the keyboard – spongy, some said. I experience connectivity problems with all bluetooth devices so that's a given.
Well, much to my delight, I really like this set. Especially the mouse for it's very flexible customization through SetPoint. Even the horizontal scroll wheel can be assign to lots of useful commands. The application specific feature is where this thing shines. I've customized Firefox, media player, vlc and other go-to apps with amazing results. I can perform complex tasks while never removing my hand from the mouse. Things get even better when tweaking along the way. Then you can back up the user.xml which stores all preferences so you don't have to start all over again if something dreadful happens. The keyboard doesn't have an on/off switch like the Cordless Desktop MX5000 Laser keyboard, but I suspect it powers down when not is use. That's pretty swell, also.
Another plus is Logitech's warranty and tech support. The best I've experienced.

At this price point for a keyboard and mouse combo, the out of the box look, fit, feel, and performance should be stellar. Unfortunately, the MX5500 fell short on several accounts.
I have owned many Logitech products since they first started business. Like the products that preceded this purchase, the feel of the keyboard is excellent. The leftmost multimedia keys are not intuitive and uncomfortable to manage with my big fingers. I love the "Media Center", "Photo Gallery", and "Gadgets" shortcut keys. Keep them! The numlock/clearcalc key and number keypad do not function like a typical vt132. If you play games using this keypad, you may need to get used to the arrow keys to the right of the keypad.
I find the LCD screen utterly useless. If it fell off the keyboard, I wouldn't notice.
Here's the downside. For all the bells and whistles, the mouse really performs badly. When it works, it works OK, but it never reconnects automatically after coming off the charger and the batteries never fully charge.
Besides these big negatives, the ergonomics of this mouse are completely wrong. You will quickly find that it rotates towards the side of your hand and the flip, forward, and back buttons are out of reach of the thumb. Perhaps my hand is too big. Perhaps the mouse is too small. How about an adapter to fit different sized hands? Anyway, the flip wheel is very tight and awkward to move.

This is my second Logitech wireless keyboard/mouse combo so I like the performance and ease of use. The issue I have is that for the second time, my fingernails are scratching off the letters on the keys. I'm not getting rid of the nails but I wish Logitech would make at least one version that has white letters imbedded in each key instead of just painted on the tops. Other than that, no problems!

I have owned this keyboard and mouse for ~ 1 year and use it for work 5 days a week. I do a lot with spreadsheets and formulas therefore I need a keyboard that is ergonomic and for that purpose it is good. The bad part is the keys are sticking horribly. The Ctrl and Shift keys stick causing formulas to go haywire in a matter of seconds. Don't care about the LCD but it is a nice feature that works well. The F buttons across the top are really small as well and invite wrong button pushing.
The mouse was excellent until scroll wheel went out 4 months ago. The actual mouse movement is very crisp and precise.
Don't expect a whole lot from this package!

I own this product for almost a year now, and found it excellent. It has many nice features, very reliable. It doesn't have any interference (unlike my previus Logitech mouse and keyboard) with the other devices, although it's plugged in in the back of my computer, quite far away from keyboard. The keys are very soft.
But first I had a problem. As soon as I installed MX 5500, the keyboard and mouse started to work immediately, but not as they should. The keyboard didn't display the date and time, and the program interface was missing some tabs, including My Mouse and My Keyboard.
So I contacted techsupport by e-mail. They responded quickly and tried to help, but nothing worked. Finally I called them (I was on hold for only couple of minutes), and they said that it was probably a defective product and sent me a new one, without even asking me to return mine!
The new one had the same issue. So I decided to use it the way it was, since in general everything worked, I just couldn't configure it and there was no date and time on the screen.
But recently I found out that there was nothing wrong with the product. The problem was with ZoneAlarm Security suite that I have installed on my computer. Although I was disabling it (as well as the other startup programs) when I was installing the software, it wasn't good enough. The update for ZoneAlarm Security Suite (7.1.254.000 for Vista) had been released mainly to fix incompatibility with the Logitech products. As soon as I installed it - the problem immediately disappeared.
So I'm very pleased with this product and Logitech support. But if you have ZoneAlarm - be sure to update it to the latest version.

This mouse and keyboard combo are the best I have ever used. The keyboard is quiet and the mouse is very accurate. I used a diNovo™ Media Desktop® Laser, until I spilled coffee in it and I have to say this unit runs circles around that unit. No comparision. I am using Windows 7 Beta and the Setpoint software for Vista installed flawlessly. No issues what so ever.
Would have liked the display back-lit, but I knew it wasn't going in, so really not an issue.
It may be by some peoples standards a little higher in cost, but again you get what you pay for. By the way the spacebar is as quiet as the rest of the keys and they are silent. All around a great combo.
No lag and bluetooth works great.

I have always been reluctant to get a wireless mouse and keyboard because i didnt want to deal with dropped signals, well i picked the right one, this thing works all over the house, almost every room even! heck i think it might work better then my wireless router lol. LCD screen is nice but it would be nice if the kyeboard and screen were backlit(or have a button on it to turn backlighting on/off to save battery life) lots of buttons can pretty much program them for whatever you want. Connected right away with no issues, even works with windows 7 beta!

I purchased this combo in early November 2008 and am so incredibly happy with it! The silent keys; the ergonomic mouse; the terrific placement of EVERYTHING... using SetPoint to specify what programs F(x) buttons open is terrific - on mouse, the scroll wheel on top can be programmed to smooth or click scroll - have loved that it automatically adjusts to the type of media I'm scrolling! Have had NO PROBLEM with battery life or connection to the PC; timing is great. The only issue for me is remembering to place the mouse in the charger at night! The LCD is a gadget - time, temp, email notification are nice but the power of this keyboard blows even the need for those features out of the water... it's a plus in other words but definately NOT why you buy this combo. I am the pickiest when it comes to mice (took over 3 hours of opening and trying every mouse at a big box store) so I am so incredibly happy to recommend this mouse without hesitation and with complete confidence in its performance to anyone. Outstanding job Logitech!!!

To be honest, I was not too happy with the mouse. The keyboard is great- my only desire was comfort and quiet with typing and that expectation was met. However, I find the mouse to be difficult to control and the scroll wheel is poor - I tend to have a lot of reverse scroll when I scroll to read through pages. In other words, the scroll is not smooth and that is an important feature. I would not recommend this mouse, unless there is a setting feature that I have not properly adjusted.
