Installation was easy, hookup a little bizarre, but simple. After powering on, I heard that the bass was extremely flat, going through the speakers and never touching the woofer. This also made the speakers provide terrible sound. I didn't have a chance to have them stop working like other people have mentioned because I immediately returned them instead. I hope you're reading this before you buy, because you need to stay far away from these speakers.
How could they have asked 300 dollars for these on here?

first things first, $105.75 after shipping and I am very pleased. My $25 Coby system blew out 2 weeks ago due to an overload in the power supply and lack of an external heat sink. I have had this system on for a while now and my only complaint is the lack of bass until the volume is really high...when the volume is almost at full, it will vibrate the building I currently reside in (which has cement block walls). I am running it on vista and have yet to come across any operating problem...as for those claiming it does not have the wattage Logitech claims, it bascially comes down to what you have running the system. I use my laptop and I can also run it through an external port on a Panisonic cassette/radio/record player with a three band equilizer which gives it plenty of power. I would recommend this to any tech savvy individual who wants a great system for the price. If I come across any problems, I will be sure to poast another review.

These speakers are too risky to get. Unless there's solid USB support by the PC manufacturers, then you're going to run into the risk of the speakers not working. I've had the Z Cinema's for 4 months, and they're a pain in the neck. I've had to reboot my system 3 times a day each day for the past 4 months. Logitech support pages just blame it on the USB controller, not the speakers. I've updated all drivers on my system, and checked them over about a dozen times. I give up. It's time to drive by Logitech's office down in south bay and throw these speakers through their front door.
The added features for the USB speakers were nice, but I should've just gone with tried and true analog speakers. Rebooting to get these things working is such a pain.
If you want to decide for yourself - then check the forums first. Plenty of other better options out there.

Ok, I got these brand new, installed the newest driver from Logitech, and the speakers sound great. However, within about 30 minutes of continuous play, the speakers simply cut off, crashing my sound dll drivers, which is only 'fixable' with forced restart.
This is extremely frustrating considering that the computer freezes 6-7 times every day, making them completely unusable.
I have searched on the Logitech forum, and it appears that I am not alone with with issue, so if you are using Vista, then be careful with these speakers (even though they are released long after Vista).
I do not have an XP system to test out the speakers on, so I returned it to Logitech for a replacement in hope that my set may *somehow* be faulty. But I'll probably be returning them if the second set still fails to work.
Overall, I love the design of the speakers, the remote is a nice addition, and the sound was great for the first 30 minutes when the set actually worked.

I purchased these speakers a few days ago and I know I will return them. Even thou I purchased them at around $80, heavily discounted from sticker.
Pros:
- Cool looking and a functional remote (its completely integrated w/ the speakers, don't think of using some custom API for other products other than WMP and MCE).
Cons:
- Low volume listening, the subwoofer hums and its very distinguishable
- High volume sounds good, but its not loud enough, in fact its great for a pantry sized room
- AUX connectivity is horrible, the speakers completely cut off if there's not enough "juice" on the line. So lets say you're watching a youtube video, and its got even the slightest quiet spots, its cuts off. Meaning, unless you're listening to electro, or continuous output music, its chokes
- I hate that it emulates a sound card on USB, and you can't just use them as regular speakers through a QUALITY sound card (such as the Creative XFi series)
- Software is buggy and unimpressive
It's no wonder that they dropped in price from $300 to $80. However, even at that price I won't keep them, because they are completely worthless to me.
NOTE: I do enjoy a lot of other Logitech products. In fact I just reviewed the Z5500's which are phenomenal.

Z-Cinema sounds awesome. I live in an apartment, so I have to turn the bass down at night. The cross-over from the satellites to the subwoofer is low enough, that when I turn the bass down it still has plenty of bass. (Not to mention how smooth this makes the sat-sub integration.) The clarity from the soft-dome tweeters makes dialog easy to understand and makes music sparkle. It has more features than I need, which is my only complaint. If you can call that a complaint.

I bought these speakers and after having tested them and putting them through their paces I have found overall the product is quite good. There have been some posting that these speakers are soft sounding and were in disbelief that it is a 280w system.
Let me fill in some info that may not be to obvious. These speakers rely heavily on the packaged software to drive the sound. So if you do not install the software you will not be able to get the full amplification from these speakers.
However, there seems to be a fault in the code written for these speakers as I have noted that on occasion the program will crash, requiring a program restart. I had made the mistake of running the speakers after the program had crashed and got that same "soft" sound sensation others had. I recently updated the software from the Logitech website and have had no trouble with them since.
These speakers are excellent and do produce an awesome sound, the bugs in the program that drives them just need to be worked out.

I may have been a little aprehensive to buy this system at $299, but for $79.99 that i payed or even $99 i payed for the z2300, the z cinema is a real great product.. eceptional sound quality, great surround simulation, good bass response, now if your a gamer and you want to upset your neighbors or parents, then buy the z2300 or z5500..!!
i would buy ten more of these z cinemas for christmas gifts.. !!

"I bought this product 2 months ago ...
and now !!! here comes the review
It's all about the tri-Amplified speakers !
These are Hybrid Class-D/Class-AB, actively crossed-over ones that make mid-high range clean and clear. Bass is warm and it creates the feeling for "fullness" , the sound is almost everywhere, from every corner.
let's move on to the details :
satellite speakers use a 2-way config just like the Z10, combine midwoofer and tweeter driver in glossy black plastic and brushed aluminum accents
Sub : it's the Z series , so I have nothing to say about this The driver itself has a thick, stiff paper cone and a beefy large-roll foam surround, allowing it to accommodate large 'excursions' of the cone and generate tons of air movement both from the cone itself and from the enormous port.
Installation:
I opened the box, and it took me 5 mins to set up ,
I started to play my favorite album : Forget about it - Alison Krauss. The guitar sounds soooo sweet, clearer than ever before. I can tell the difference between X-fi Xtreme music+T6060 with this one. Both have great mid range, ( thanks to the 2 way config ) but Logitech is the winner in this battle because it has a "Z" sub that makes the bass richer than those Creative.
The speakers use USB connection which provide a pure digital path from the PC to the loudspeaker drivers themselves. this, somehow, make us , end-user, feel something like "we're using a high-end system, Analog is a museum thing"
IT'S ALL OF THE GOOD
NOW LET'S MOVE ON THE THE EVIL THINGS :
- THIS SPEAKER USESRS TRU-HD SURROUND SOFTWARE SOUND . This means so much to gamers. I notice a frames rate drop in all games I play. Call of duty 4-5 , Farcry 2, Crysis v...v.v In return, you'll have a great exp with the sounds, IT;S TRUE THAT YOU'RE HAVING 5.1 SOUND WITH ONLY 2 SPEAKERS. WHEN I BATTLING THRU' AFRICA IN FARCRY2 I CAN HEAR ENEMY FROM BEHIND !!!
- "SOFT SOUND" , this maybe the bad , but it's the necessary evil , when you put it the 100% volume, the sound is still clean. Believe me, I have complaints all the time I turn this monster on :"Hey Bee, louder a little bit, I can't hear anything". It's from my husband.
- And ... there's nothing to control the speaker except 2 things : the remote control and its software.
what else ?
it's price !!!"

Quiet, so quiet at max volume :(
180rms is pure fiction! Not even near 100w :(
Sound is ok, clear, good quality at low - mid volume... Trouble is when it tops at mid volume!
Not good purchase for that money! Should be returning them soon. Another hassle in my life :(
