I have purchased everyone in my family this remote just to stop the phone calls "how do I turn the movie on?' I wish that logitech would look at bluetooth, but I knew that going in. I have set up 1 remote at every house for all the sitting areas. My remote works for 3 different areas of the house. I got rid of at least 7 remotes and my family stopped waking me up in the morning. Great buy but it can't help you with the PS3.

I now see what separates Harmony remotes from the $20 “all-in-one” competitors. It took me a little while to learn, but I actually found it fun learning to tweak the activities. Even after a couple months, you still find ways to improve on your home theater. I almost look forward to replacing one of my components just so I can reconfigure it.

I like the hefty feel of this over some the of the other, more expensive, Harmony remotes. I also like the grippy feel on the bottom.

My skeptical nature of "too good to be true" products was not rewarded: this device is everything it should be. In fact, don't know why you'd buy a more expensive model. I am impressed by the AI decisions made: what devices to have on & off, channel selecting, etc. The only con: it takes a few seconds to perform everything. At first, I didn't hold it up long enough. Super wide angle on the IR sender. You may need to spend some time tweaking. 5 remotes down the drain! Yea!

I've had this remote for about 3 years. The database had the codes for my 10 year old Kenwood receiver as well as my brand new Vizio TV. It took a while to get it set up, but once i did, it was perfect. It even switches presets on my radio receiver - something the original remote wouldn't do.
Logitech support has been very available the few times I've had questions.
Great product.

I bought a Harmony 500 on December of 2007, by July the screen had lines going across and by october it was dead. So I blamed my kids and went on to get a new Harmony 550, I was EXTREMELY careful with this remote! After ONE month the screen died without notice. One day it was blue... nothing on it :(
I love every thing about these remotes, but the LCD quality is UNACCEPTABLE! Specially coming from a company as good s Logitech.
Very Disappointed.

For quite some time I had been contemplating buying one of these. Until my wife kept saying to me “too many remotes just to turn on the TV.” . So I went ahead and purchase one online the 550 got a bargain on EBay!. THE BEST INVESTEMENT I have done she said!!. This product is great it took care of 6 remotes. I was really impressed it even worked with my Psyclone switch box. Impressive simple to set up by using the wizard, I would highly recommend to use the wizard sets up everything for you. You can even control one item at a time by clicking on the device button. Thanks Logitech saved my Marriage!.

I've used the Harmony 550 for a month - it's programmed for a TV, A/V sound system, DVD player, iPod video, iPod music, and VCR. Pros: works as advertised. The programming went flawlessly (helpful hints: know ahead of time the exact model numbers of your components, and, for each activity, know the source inputs labels for the components.) Cons: (minor) - remote would benefit from larger volume and channel buttons. While it's too soon to have experience with battery life and durability, I'm very happy with the remote control so far.

I got this remote for Christmas 08, and I love it. It does help to set up if you have a little computer/electronics experience, however it still wasn't that bad. I would highly reccomend this remote to anyone with several items in your entertainment system.

I bought to remote for my Dad for Xmas. My parents call me quite a bit because they pushed the wrong button on one of their remotes and now they can't watch TV, or watch a DVD. I talk them through it and get them to press the right buttons on the right remote. They have a full page of notes on how to run their entertainment system. I saw this remote and thought I'd try it. I got all the model numbers off their home entertainment system. Came home & hooked up the remote to the computer, followed the online instructions and set up the remote in about 20 minutes (simple setup). Now when my parents want to watch TV they push a button that says "Watch TV" Automatically the TV turns on sets itself to the correct video input, the DVR turns on, the surround sound comes on and sets its self to the right input. If they want to watch a DVD they push a button for "Watch DVD" and it sets up the whole entertainment system for them to watch a DVD. Now when my parents call me, they keep thanking me for the remote and how easy it is to use. Dad put away all 5 of his other remotes. GREAT PRODUCT! It's parent proof!

I do not understand all of the excellent reviews on this remote. Yes, it will control different equipment in a sequence, but if you try to control an individual component, forget it. I tried to use the power button to turn the TV off but the power button wants to control everything in the sequence. To get to the 'power off' button, I need to go thru 11 menu screens. Unacceptable.

When I was looking for a Universal remote. I couldnt for the life of me could figure out why these remotes were so much money. After all I could have spent $20 on another brand. But I bought the Harmony 550 instead. At first the look at the product it appears to well made. But after only a few months of use the channel - button does not work. Lets see how there customer service dept is.

I had at least 5 remotes that I had to juggle to do anything with my home theater system. This is a much easier way to change the channels or to watch a DVD. I like the fact that it does work with my Gateway tv, ALOT of other remotes didn't even have a code for it. I do have a few problems with it though. First of all it said that it could control my (remote) lights, it doesn't! It even uses my model number as an example when you set it up. I don't quite understand that one. I've had it less than a year and some of the writing on the buttons are coming off and I've had to replace the batteries at least four times. Also, sometimes my lighted background stays on longer than it should. I don't know if it's just mine that does that or all of them, that could account for having to change the batteries every 2-3 months. I've never gone through so many batteries with a remote before. Overall it does make it simplier to work with my devices but there are a few kinks that need to be worked out.

At the risk of using an old cliché, the dog ate my original TV remote so I went looking for a replacement. Along the way it seemed like a good idea to combine the other two as well and finally purchased the Logitech Harmony 550 based on many positive reviews.
Overall it’s a good remote, handles everything I need in my uncomplicated setup; TV, DVD, VCR. It is by far a better looking unit than the hourglass or peanut shape that seems to dominate the market; substantial in the hand and easily programmed and used.
My only complaint is the display. Unacceptable. Very little contrast with small thin font making it very hard to read under any lighting. Not at all as it appears in online photos. If this unit had a better display I would have given it a 5 across the board.
A good, nice looking, versatile remote otherwise.

I am so glad somebody came up with the idea of a remote like this. It can do everything! I wouldn't be able to live without a remote like this anymore. Every button on this masterpiece is programable to do whatever you want it to. I even programed my air conditioner to it! Even if you're having trouble finding one of the IR commands from the original remote, you can scan that signal manually off the original using this remote. I've had this remote for about a year now and it still works great. I bought a couple different components for my system during that time, and it was as easy to set up as the first time. Many of my friends have bought this after they saw what it can do. I even bought one of these for my not so tech savvy parents, and they love it! "No more changing inputs!" With the number of cheap $20 universal remotes I have bought before this one, I probably could've bought 10 of these! Buy this remote and you will never have to buy another universal remote again! (Unless you need more than one!)

This remote has been pretty decent over the last month or so that I've used it. The remote looks slick and is holding up well under normal day to day use. However the support that came with it makes it leaps and bounds above all else!
A knowledgeable, friendly, and UNDERSTANDABLE technician helped me through tweaking it so I could control the four devices I had in my HT setup. He took the time (about an hour) to really help me through the oddball set up I have (Astar LCD caused the most hiccups with inputs).
After getting it going 95% of way out of the box, he helped me the rest of the way. I liked it so much I ended up buying an 880 for my downstairs theater setup which is a bit more complex.
Kudos to Logitech for keeping very good technicians in house...
The only two issues I have with it are button size and input control. The buttons are small and that makes it a bit difficult to control everything while holding it with one hand. Not impossible, but not super easy either. As for the input issue...the Astar is a bit of a bear to deal with inputs so maybe that's it. It works, but sometimes the remote can't settle on the correct input.
