Absolutely no range

Date:June 14, 2012
This product is very easy to set up with the Harmony web-based software. I can tweak which ports control certain devices, etc.
However, my 1100 and 890 must both be about 5-6 feet away from the extender if it is not in line-of-sight. This poses a HUGE problem for anyone who wants to put this thing in a media cabinet of any kind.
I bought a few of these, and sadly, they are are completely useless and don't do the ONE THING they advertise that makes them useful at all. I should have just bought 100' of IR wiring and put a cheap repeater in my cabinet. This thing is 100% junk!

Works but extremely slow and ineffective at times

Date:March 10, 2012
It works with the remote but very typically will overshoot with volume control (annoying!!!) and hang on a set of instructions. Pairing can be a challenge... big difference between the responsiveness of line-of-sight IR and this RF relay as I have 2 different Logitech systems in my house... wouldn't buy it again as it has been more trouble than it's worth.

Disappointing

Date:February 25, 2012
I bought the extender because it said Z-wave compatible on the box, but found it doesn't actually work with a home Z-wave network. It's slows down every remote button press by about half a second. The pigtail power cord is completely baffling, as it's located out the side and not in the back with the rest of the connectors. It has to be separately programmed along with the remote, so every remote update requires un-plugging the four IR bugs and bringing the device back to the computer. Even the shape is awkward and it doesn't fit well anywhere.
The only positives are it allows the remote to work (slowly) without worrying about line of sight, and it enables the use of IR bugs to ensure good IR reception.

Does the job

Date:May 26, 2011
As other reviewers have said, there's a delay between the command and the response from the device. And you do have to update this whenever you change the remote configuration. And the power comes out the side instead of the back. And there's no way for it to receive and relay IR as well as RF.
But for what it advertises it will do, which is allow you to hide your equipment inside a cabinet, a closet, etc, it does the job.

Slow and doesn't work with baby monitor

Date:September 30, 2010
Before I had kids, this product worked ok. The RF perfromance is VERY slow (i.e pressing the volume up/dn and the release, RF still keeps on going - this feature really blows!).
Then I got kids and added a video monitor. The video monitor uses the same RF band as the remote so the remote is near 100% unreliable.
Cool idea, just not robust.

I purchased a 890 Pro in 2006 that model came with IR extender. The extender sat in the box for the next 3 years due to I'm military and I have to move alot. Our current home was set up so that I was finally able to hide all of my components. The remote and extender work flawless together and the IR repeaters are long enough to accomodate nearly any type of setup.
In 2010 I added the Harmony 1100 to my setup. The 1100 and the extender work well together although the speed is about 35% slower that when using my 890 Pro.
Cons:
The extender will only pair with ONE remote.
The extender must be unplugged/disconnected anytime you make a change, even if the change is only for the remote.
The power cable for the extender is on the side of the extender and NOT on the back
The cons are why this product did not get higher ratings in 3 of the above categories.
Setup:
52" Bravia, 400 DVD Changer, DVR, Rx-Z11, HTR-5990, Apple mini, Wii, 360, PS3, 8-port 10/100/1000 switch, modem, E3000 router,3x Subs, 10 in ceiling speakers, 6 flat panel speakers , Panamax power conditioner, 2x 80mm exhaust fans, 3x 120mm exhaust fans

Works but complex to set up

Date:June 23, 2010
Just bought an 1100 remote with the extender to replace an old universal remote. The wireless extender was a bit complex to pair with the remote and required plugging and unplugging from the USB cable on the PC several times. Later when configuring the Favorite channels on the 1100 remote it still required me to plug in the extender for updating the remote. This was a bit awkward and very inconvenient. As other reviewers have noted, the response is a bit slow, I guess you just get used to that. However, it operates all my devices correctly and is a very nice upgrade over my previous setup. I'm happy for now!

Great piece of equipment!

Date:June 9, 2010
Works great, I've had this product for about 8 months.
I would not be able to hide my components without it. I bought it along with the Harmony 1100. I recently just purchased a new Denon receiver(AVR-891) do to a power surge. They did not have the model on the list of remote codes because it was such a new model, but the remote learning process was a breeze! I also bought the PS3 adapter and that makes it great to only have to use the 1100 for everything.

I give up

Date:June 7, 2010
Unreliable, at best. Every time I updated my remote. I had to unhook the extender and attach it to USB to update it, even if I wasn't updating devices from the remote location! Then it failed after about a year.

SLOW but usable

Date:March 2, 2010
Everything works OK. It is just much slower to respond than IR. It can be frustrating at times. It is still cheaper than the alternatives so you really have no choice but there is really no excuse for the slowness. Also there have not been any firmware or software updates to the 1000 in years. ALSO if logitech wanted to catch up to the times they would release an iPhone app and receiver.

Extender Incompatible

Date:February 14, 2010
I just had the same experience as Andre from Raleigh. The box should clearly state remote compatibility for the RF Wireless Extender. Not surprising that Best Buy staff was nice, but clueless, after two trips. Extremely disappointing that the Logitech website lacks overt compatibility information as well! Much time wasted!

Compatibility with Harmony Remotes

Date:February 8, 2010
It is truly sad that I bought a harmony one and the RF wireless extender only to find out that my harmony one is not compatible with the RF extender I bought from Best Buy. The staff seemed to be knowledgeable at Best Buy but they did not let me know that my purchases were incompatible. The RF extender compatibility with remotes are not even described on product page. Sony 400 DVD carousel not even in device selection catalog.
