I have had this remote now for over a year and it has been absolutely awesome , it was easy to setup through their program over the internet and controlled all of my home theater from the get go and when I updated some of my HT , it was easy to update my controller .
It is starting to show a little wear though , the black on my down arrow on my directional pad is getting worn off , only visible with the back light on . I guess I use the down button waaaay to much . Nothing has fell off or broke , it is a very high quality item .

I have been a harmony user for about 5 years. I decided to upgrade to the Harmony One. It was the best A/V money I spent in a long time. The remote was very easy to set up and within about thirty minutes my entire system was running perfectly. The only thing it doesn't do is RF without using a RF signal blaster. I bought one for about $50 and now the remote controls all of my A/V equipment that is in another room (No more cluttered TV stands). Highly recommended!!

This remote is the top of the line. Setup with my system was a snap. One button and the DTV, Sony sound system and TV all turn on. Press the DVD button and the DTV turns off, and the DVD player turns on. It's so easy even my wife can use it. Love the rechargeable cradle. Never have to buy batteries again. I highly recommend this remote for anyone who has mutiple equipment systems, which most people do today.

Prfct_Nobody was incorrect on his description of proper battery recharging.
He said, "As with any other rechargeable device, it is recommended that the battery be fully dead (or close to) before recharging. Same with cell phones. If you charge your phone every night (even if the battery is at 60%), your battery life will gradually decrease over time. Only recharge the One when it needs to be."
This information is correct for Ni-Cad batteries only which have a "memory effect". The Harmony One uses a Lithium-Ion battery which , like Ni-MH batteries, does not have a memory effect and thus can be charged anytime.

This remote was very easy to setup and use. I love the macros. This remote is a 5 across the board. I read some reviews that stated it was hard to setup. It is called reading the instructions. I love that it has a rechargable battery too. I will plan to buy another when I setup my entertainment system in the basement.

It does everthing it claims. The only problem I have and it's likely user error due to my dish DVR VIP722 is when I touch "Watch TV", everything comes on but I have to hit OK to get the dvr picture to show up. It has the Dish screen that says" click select to watch tv". One other minor issue is my husband prefers to use the Dish remote and when he's started up the tv and dvr, and I want to use my Harmony (we both control the tv with our respective remotes), I have to go to help to get it to start functioning. I'm sure there are some simple corrections for these, but honestly, they're not too bothersome.
This is a truly convenient gadget that I wouldn't want to be without. SO easy when we want to use the blu-ray player! Another plus is that I frequently forget to put it on the charger for days and it's never run down. I got mine on Amazon for $199.

Well, I was a tad skeptical about finding a decent universal remote.
If you are holding off on pulling the trigger, just do it. The software, hardware, tech support is top notch.
I seriously love this remote. Like seriously am honestly in love with this thing.

The remote is great. The software is not. If you don't mind spending an hour going threw this horrible software then your rewards are great. I love how it works with my cable box so I don't have to work with that terrible cable remote for anything. All in all I think this thing is great.

Admittedly, the price tag on this is VERY high. However, I have never seen a remote that can do all that this one does with such ease. There is a learning curve to this remote as with many more sophisticated gadgets. I still give it a perfect score overall. The 4 stars for quality is because I have had 2 of these remotes, and after a while they actually begin to make a creaking noise when pushing the buttons though it has no effect as far as the usability. Features are outrageous, the performance is the best, bar-none. Once you've mastered the learning curve, it's incredibly easy to use. The only other 4 star rating I had to give the remote is in the ergonomics department. The touch screen is oftentimes difficult to use one handed or you'll invariably hit the wrong "button." Also, you HAVE to hold the remote to use it. It doesn't work very well sitting on the table in front of you. One last thing that I love is that it emits the IR signal from the front, AND the bottom. When you are trying to read the controls on the remote and you hit a button, as long as the remote is reasonably in range and at the right angle, you'll get you selection holding the remote straight up and down. All I can say is that, as usual, Logitech has outdone itself again. Other products just can't hold a candle to Logitech (including Microsoft (mice and keyboards)). I hope this helps someone understand why it's worth $250.00. I think $150.00 would be a more realistic price, but I paid the $250.00 and so have lots of other people...

In response to the reviews I've read about the battery life being cut short, therefore giving the One a bad rating, it has nothing to do with the remote or the battery, it has to do with your habits. As with any other rechargeable device, it is recommended that the battery be fully dead (or close to) before recharging. Same with cell phones. If you charge your phone every night (even if the battery is at 60%), your battery life will gradually decrease over time. Only recharge the One when it needs to be. Your battery life will stay at its estimated time period.

In my previous review I mentioned how I couldn't make an activity "listen to music" with the TV device not included. Well, it turned out I just had to read the how-to on this site to make it work! My Logitech now truly works in Harmony with all my equipment! (Remember: Eight devices from seven different brands!!)I I guess it takes a little time to understand the vastness of configurations possible but the rewards are many. I guess that good things come to those who read the FAQ!
In light of this I decided to revise my appraisal of the Harmony One and give it its five stars; well deserved and good on you, Logitech!

One must be reasonably proficient with electronic gadgets and supporting software to understand how to troubleshoot problems. For example, I tried to set up an activity to listen to music. I included my CD player and AV receiver because these are the two devices I use for listening music. (That is "non-digital music" i.e. not from a harddisk.) Try as I may, I cannot convince the Harmony One that a TV set is not part of my CD listening habit. A CD doesn't even have video information.
Apart from this I eventually managed to control ALL of my eight devices from seven different brands to work "in Harmony" (Pun most certainly intended.) However, the 30 min setup procedure as projected by Logitech is on the optimistical side to say the least. As a tech savvy person it took me the better part of a working day to get my "watch TV" activity setup right.
Again, having said all that, the device is a breath of fresh air among the evergrowing forest of universal remotes and there truly is a wealth of possibilities and enhancements for the Harmony one to explore and use. Such niceties as channel logo's, activities (Logitech speak for macro's) and the sheer volume of devices that the software recognises.
Speaking of which, the software does have its quirks however. Once configured, my TV sported a plethora of extra functions and buttons which I had to manually remove as there were no such functions on my TV. Also, uploading minor changes took much too long. On a lesser note: I was a bit surprised by the exceptional glossy finish of the remote; it would put a concert piano to shame. I thought it made the remote look tacky. Fingerprints are very visible and not easily removed. But there Logitech probably knew what they were getting themselves in to and included a microfiber cloth with the package to wipe away the smudges.
Recommend it? Yes, wholeheartidly but for the patient and somewhat technically endowed individuals among us.
If Logitech could iron out these (admittedly) minor flaws, I would give it a firm 5-star recommendation. In my opinion, a warm 4-star rating is the least this wonderful device deserves! Among my best buys of the last ten years!

I have worked in technology for my whole career and am a devoted gadget "junkie". I have bought various remotes to control my A/V gear over the years and have been consistently disappointed until I bought my first Harmony remote at Costco about a year ago. For the first time in my experience, I had a remote that I found much more convenient to use than the half dozen individual remotes, and I only occasionally had to pick up one of those to change a secondary setting on one of my devices. Recently, I bought a Harmony One and all I can say is that this thing is close to perfect. Set up was a breeze, and should be quite manageable for non tech-savvy people as the software is very user-friendly and guides the user through the process. The software has also allowed me to very easily and quickly make small tweaks/enhancements as I have used the remote. Physically it is a beautiful design, sits comfortably in my hand, and has a button layout that is clear, ergonomic and easily visible in a darkened room. I think they may have studied the Tivo remote, which was very cleverly designed. Finally, the touch screen is responsive, intuitive and very attractive. I told a friend yesterday that this product reminds me of the iPhone, which I also love, in that it has been very well thought out, is easy to program and use, and just puts a smile on my face. There are more mediocre products on the market that great ones, and I took the time to write this review because great products deserve recognition. Thanks.

A lot of thought went into the design and function of this remote. Everything is intuitive and I LOVE the fact that it has a motion switch that turns on the back-light when you pick it up. (I find my self momentarily expecting everything to do that now when I pick things up... cell phone, bedroom remote, etc). It's just a smart design. I can't imagine how a Harmony Two will be better... well.. I guess they could put a larger screen on it, add wi-fi, and and RF... but then it would be too expensive. If you're considering this remote... get it!

You can customize it any way you like. Any button can be changed to what every you like. The software sets up Activities in either a automatic intuitive mode or manual. One press does it all. But after using it for a while you can change and rearrange things as you wish. When selecting the device mode the window with touch control can be rearranged in any order. The base for recharging is good. But the software is a little troublesome. I got a whole new system and changing three components only took about 40 minutes. 15 minutes because of customizing. But the software had errors 6 times. It handles the errors good with screens that fix the errors. but each error took a couple of minutes because the screen freezes. at least I didn't have to start over or restart the program. The error said it was a connection problem that could have been a problem with my internet connection. All in all I like this remote and definitely recommend it. When pressing a button near the bottom of the remote while it is on a flat surface with one hand the remote rolls because it is not flat it self. Not much of a problem really.
When manually programming a button the instructions need to say to only press the button for a second, not to hold it till the software response.

I did a bit of research into Universals and a recurring brand in positive reviews was Logitech. A local Audio Visual chain was offering the Harmony One for a great price so after reading the reviews on this website I bought one. The assistant tried to steer me away toward a cheaper one (which should have been a sign, for commission-based assistants to do that!) but I was seduced by the lavishness of a touch screen.
Now, to be fair, I am really, REALLY impressed by the depth of functionality for my devices and the set-up was far simpler than I had been expecting - even making a custom activity couldnt be easier. But in execution, it just kept failing to do the tasks fully. It only works successfully intermittently, and Ive even on occasion fished the old remotes out of the drawer just to get my freaking component working the old fashioned way. The Help Menu is great, but I dont want to be using it quite so often, y'know? For instance, if my TV wasnt on the right Input after starting the Watch TV activity, the One kept trying to change it and it would just end up on any input, from ATV to DTV to a random HDMI or anything in between - IF the TV came on at all. The Activities just dont seem to work out, and as a result I spend a lot of time on the Devices menu. Which raised another niggle in not being able to re-order that menu; the One insists on putting my rarely used VCR above my frequently used Hard Drive recorder which is just one of those tiny annoyances that is constantly reminding by virtue of my aforementioned reliance on using the Devices menu to sort problems.
Im glad I got it for half the regular price; Id have outright taken it back had I paid the recommended retail. My despairing girlfriend thought I had found a problem to the gaggle of remotes on the coffee table, but she refuses to use it at all anymore and sneers at it and me openly in front of company. Oh the indignity...

This is the best remote I've ever owned. The way it separates devices from activities is great. The activities are easily accessible via the touch screen, and the buttons all do the right thing on the right device without me ever having to think about it.
I have not had the battery problems others have noted. Perhaps this is in the way I use it. I rarely leave the remote in its recharging bay. In fact, I run the remote until the green bar is almost empty, typically a month or so, and only then do I leave it in the bay overnight and by the next morning it is fully charged and ready to go for another month.
Note that it does not have RF. This is a complete non-issue for me and, I would imagine, most people, but if you need RF Logitech has other models that do.
In fact, the only (very minor) problem I have is what I came here to note. You cannot customize the icons shown on the activities. I just added a Sirius satellite music system and it is set up under "Listen to the Radio" -- and I already have one of those for my AM/FM tuner. I was able to customize the text to "Listen to Sirius", but both have identical icons. A very minor annoyance, true, but it would be nice if Logitech addressed this.
