This is probably the best all around mouse you will be able to find. Simple 8 buttons that are more than enough for gaming and just browsing the web comfortably. It has a good natural weight to the mouse and the multiple DPI settings are right on top to make changes on the fly while in game. As far as the durability is concerned, I do not think any other mouse could have survived my 6 years of nerd rage throwing across rooms, ripping it from my computer, hitting into walls, and even spilling a couple drinks on it. It still works like bought it and it is few and far between you see a good product. I would recommend this mouse hands down to anyone.

Pound for pound best mouse ever.

Date:April 22, 2011
On my second MX518. I still have the first one I bought many years ago. Minus some of the shiny gloss, logo and little feet it is still a perfectly functioning mouse. If you are looking for an excellent corded mouse with some great programmability, then look no further. I've tried alot of "higher grade" mice and was always let down.

Great Mouse, Love the multiple spd/res settings!

Date:April 18, 2011
I love the multiple setting for speeds. I use fast for vehicles and tanks and such, the slow setting for sniper rifle/long range shooting and a mid-range for just running around/regular battles.
I would like the overall size to be a bit larger, I have large hands and they get cramped if I play for more than an hour (which I do often when the gf goes to bed early :) )
Also, would like more buttons, but they have other options for mouses, so thats my bad for not shelling out some more cash.
Will definitely look to logitech for my next mouse, overall, I love it.

The Legendary gaming mouse

Date:April 16, 2011
I've had this mice basicaly for more than 10 years. I've started with the MX500, which was the first of the famous MX5xx series. At that time I was a pro Counter Strike player and Logitech MX was the best choice for progaming. Togather with fUnc sUrface 1030 mousepad it was the best on the market. It took me some time to get used to the unique ergonomy (for that time), but once I was familiar with the shape, I've become unstoppable.
I've gone through MX500, 510 and now 518. Each of these excellent mices have last me for atleast 3-4 years of everyday hardcore use. I'm soon going to replace my current mouse, and even though I've tryied the G9 and G500, I'm still going to get another MX518, because they just feel right.

Really Long lasting/comfortable

Date:March 30, 2011
I've had this mouse for about 6 years. It still works. It is really comfortable. I dislike using other mice on other computers, since I am used to the nice contours of this one. Awesome.

Fantastic Mouse

Date:March 25, 2011
I have had this mouse for over 5 years now and I have loved it the entire time. It has been through Counter-Strike, DOTA, World of Warcraft for 3 years, Battlefield 2, Battle Field Bad Company 2 and just my every day uses of a mouse. For anyone that wants a reliable and dependable mouse for gaming or just every day use, I would recommend this to you. It is comfortable, it has forward and backward navigation buttons on the side, and it has never caused me any problems. The Mx 518 is definitely my choice in looking for a good dependable mouse.

Buy this mouse.

Date:February 23, 2011
I've used this mouse on and off for two years, gone through about 3 other gaming mice but nothing compares to the power and simplicity of this. The mouse is very accurate and performs very well for long sessions, the two side buttons are perfect, even if you don't think you'll need them, you'll find a use. It doesn't have as many fancy features as other mice have, but unless you're really into that stuff there's no need. The ergonomics get a little bit of getting used to, but after a few days it feels perfect. The mouse buttons can sometimes build up some residue from your fingers (atleast, if you have oily skin like I have), but it's nothing that some general looking after like anything else won't fix.
Overall, great mouse. A must have (or try, atleast) for any gamer.

Amazing. Simply amazing.

Date:February 12, 2011
I've had this mouse for over 5 years now without having to perform any real maintenance on it (other than brushing the dust off the pads every few days with my finger). It has fallen many times, but still works great.
My only issues with it are as follows:
1: Sometimes I wish it had 2k+ dpi. Only sometimes, though.
2: I wish you could program key SEQUENCES into the buttons.
3: I've never once had the setpoint software actually recognize that I'm playing a different game, and switch the settings in the mouse to match the game. I sorta wish they'd fix that. It would be nice to have those two thumb buttons do different things depending on what game I'm playing.

Scared To Try Anything Else

Date:January 14, 2011
I've had 2 of these, and... I love it. Its so comfortable, its a great FPS fingertip mouse its just, I've been mmo'ing and FPS'ing with this mouse for About 4 years and I'm so comfortable with it I'm scared to try anything else. If you dont need anything complicated. If you're not hardcore into macro'ing but just want a comfortable versatile mouse this is perfect for you. You have no idea how great this mouse is... and for this price?

Surprising gaming mouse!

Date:January 3, 2011
about six months ago I'm planning to build a new PC system. It will be mainly used as my gaming, entertainment, and editing PC.
I was looking around here in Logitech website to find an affordable gaming mouse, and I found this MX518. It looks pretty good, has all the basic of a gaming mouse features, and most importantly has an affordable price!
The first time I opened the box and felt the real thing, my first thought is "is it gonna fit on my small hands?" The answer is sure does! As a matter of fact, even for users with small hands, the mouse is very comfortable and the grip felt just right.
Setting up the mouse is in fact too easy. Just plug & play, and you're ready to go! Setting it software wise, is also easy & simple, but it definitely helps you to get the most of the MX518.
In conclusion, if you're looking for an affordable gaming mouse that has all the basic features of a gaming grade mouse, then I highly recommends this MX518!

Best I've used!

Date:December 22, 2010
I have been using this mouse for nearly 6 years, it is GREAT! It is still working like it's fresh out of the box and at least as good as any other out there. I tried using different RAZER gaming mice since the MX-518 was getting up there in age, I sold them shortly after and returned to my 518. The finish is a little worn after nearly 6 yrs of daily gaming and I am looking forward to wearing more of that finish off in the next few years. GREAT PRODUCT!

Best gaming mouse that will last you years!

Date:December 16, 2010
I've had this mouse for over 6 years now and haven't had to replace it once. I play games on a daily basis and it is EXTREMELY precise, very durable, has barely worn out on all ends of the mouse including the feet at the bottom. Split water on it and never had issues afterward. This mouse is the best you can get for a gaming mouse. Fits nice in your hand, easily to pick up and move quickly without missing a beat. Works PERFECT on an X-Ray Thunder8 mouse surface, slides like ice. Sensitivity speed adjustment on top is very useful same with other buttons; which can be disabled. HIGHLY recommend buying this mouse or if this one ever bites the dust!

Not the best but not the worst either.

Date:December 2, 2010
This is my 3rd MX-518 mouse purchased, so far I like the ease of use and the PS2/USB interface, plenty of room for adaptation.
As of 12/2/10 due a needed WinXP reinstall the latest drivers are a disappointment, the previous driver version allowed better customization and speed switching, up to 5 settings were selectable while the current version only allows 3.
The wheel on the mouse is the reason of my changes, it goes out very quickly and will become useless or twitchy in a few months.
Do not use this mouse if you prefer a good grip, the mouse is small for big handed people like yours truly but I use a nice mouse pad with a cushion where most of the hand rests and fingers move the mouse with ease.

Win7 64bit_dont buy it

Date:November 27, 2010
I love Logitech mice & speakers. Great quality for the money spent. I replace an old one with a newer one because the older one wouldn't allow me to use the newly assigned thumb buttons in my games. This has the same issues. I run a Win7 64bit system. I am highly disappointed in this product because it is newer and should have had this quirk worked out. Also, the buttons to switch between DPIs should be on the palm side of the wheel, not spaced out. When playing a game, my finger needs to be able to switch my DPIs faster than this setup allows.

A Man

My opinion

Date:November 26, 2010
I got this to replace an older logitech portable laptop mouse and i was used to the weight of the two AA batteries inside. This one was very light and i didnt like it, the cord was too thick, not for gaming and the smooth plastic outside literally stuck my hand to it and gave me an almost "itching" feeling. But the mouse would be better for multimedia. I sent it back for a g500 and im impressed with it.

Best Mouse on the Market

Date:October 3, 2010
Moving from a Logitech MX 510, I didn't think I could find something that would feel the same. Although it was very hard to put down my MX510 the MX518 has been very successful as a replacement. The MX510 was a 800 dpi mouse, the 1800 dpi MX518 works great. It took a while to transition, and by a while I mean maybe a week of gaming at most. The weight is a few grams lighter than the MX510. The mouse software is good, but I prefer to use it without. The sensitivity buttons I could do without, but the extra buttons are re-programmable so its really not a problem.
I first tried to replicate the MX510 by turning the dpi down to 800, but it wasn't quite the same. I just went with it, and decided in the long run getting use to 1800 dpi wouldn't be that big a deal.
Overall, great mouse, great feel, great affordability and will never buy another brand as long as they make a similar model. Simple and effective.
