I used to work at the Apple store, so I got to listen to an alarming number of iPod/MP3 Player docks and the only one that beat the pure-fi is the Bose Sound dock which costs more than double this product when you add the rechargeable battery.
The Pure-Fi is pretty amazing. I've owned two over 4 years, dragged it across 10 countries and frequently "throw" it down on rocks outside while rock climbing. Stands up to just about everything. The battery still runs strong. I had the previous iteration to this product and the battery conked out (went down to like 60% capacity), but logitech was happy to replace the product very easily and without hassle.
It's also really nice to have a system that can accept an aux-in so you're not limited to ipods.
The old model that I had did have a problem where if the volume on the ipod was too low it would stop playing..but that problem was easily solved.
Seriously, this product is hard to beat.

I bought this as a display unit from Circuit City when they were liquidating their stores. I've had it since Feb 09 and have used almost every morning while in the shower since then. The battery life is amazing and the sound is nice and loud. I do listen to a lot of podcasts on it, and while in the shower, I do have to turn it to max volume to hear spoken word over the water, but music is fine at a lower volume. The remote works well and is convenient during a party.
I've seen a lot of poor reviews on here complain about the quality of this product. Either, I've gotten extremely lucky or they are just an outspoken minority. I have had zero issues with this unit, and very little with Logitech in general. I've been buying their products for years because of their great features and awesome quality and customer service.
Also, I've used this product with an 80GB iPod Classic, 8GB iPod Touch 2G, and a 4GB iPod Nano 2G, and other sources via the 3.5mm auxillary input with no problems at all.

Sounds pretty good when it works. But mine seems to have a similar problem to many others. Began cutting out for no reason after about two weeks, and battery wouldn't hold a charge for more than a few minutes. Now it won't even work when plugged in. Worst electronic device I've bougt in several years. Will not buy from Logitech again.

i know there are a few people saying there batt wont last a song etc, thats wack ! mine lasts almost the 10hrs unplugged playing my ipod/iphone as described,it stays charged for days if it has been charged and left, sounds good, plays quite loud, bundles up nicely in the case, remote works around 5-8m in a fairly straight line of sight, def a good little setup to travel with or to even play @ home if u dont have a stereo,. the only prob ive found is with my new iphone 3Gs it says " not compatible,do you want to turn aircraft mode on? if so u cant make/receive calls while playing" even though it does work, dunno what that is,.

My wife bought this unit to listen to our iPod outdoors. We enjoyed it for about a month. The sound is good, though not fabulous. Portability is excellent.
The power button has always been hard to push, and it failed intermittently. Then it became impossible to turn the unit on.
I had quality-related problems with a Logitech headset for my laptop. I returned it under warranty, and the second one failed too.
I am reluctant to buy any more Logitech products and will try to get my money back for this one. As someone else has written, be sure to keep your receipt!

Wow the quality of the sound that comes out of these speakers is out of this world. Although the sound is good their is one thing wrong with them. After a full charge the battery dies very quick. So you have to use it on the mains 90% of the time.

After a bad experience with an equivalent competing iPod dock system from another maker--the iPod connection failed after 2 days of use with my iPod Classic 120--I bought this one with some trepidation. So far its connector seems more compatible and robust--one quibble: there is no adapter included for the Classic 120, a thinner model than its predecessors, making it a little wobbly in the seat.
THE GOOD: Mostly well designed, especially when you finally find out that there are legs on the bottom that swing out. It is unusual to have a remote on a model this inexpensive that also controls the menu system; I find this very useful. I have not used it on battery only and can't comment on that. The sound is not spectacular, but more than decent, though such small speakers can not reach a deep bass. Can fill a room, but not a huge space.
THE BAD: Hard to push buttons, no Classic 120 adapter and (if you care) no FM radio or computer link.

While this unit sounds great, it does not hold a charge...After charging for several hours, the charge rapidly fades off in a couple minutes. Using this product as a " plug in" is the only option, as you cannot change-out the battery. My purchase was to get a portable, ....didn't get one!

I received this product as a Christmas present, however, I never received a gift receipt. I loved everything about the product, it had a clear quality sound. It was easy to use and I absolutely loved the product.. However, a month after I received the gift I noticed that it would not hold power for long periods of time. Last month when I attempted to plug in the product it will not hold enough power to play an entire song. Unfortunately, I must have gotten a lame duck without a receipt to return the product. I have reviewed that others have used and abused their player, mine still looks brand new but is of no use. Make certain that you have keep your receipt because problems due occurr with this product.

I own an older model of these speakers and use them every weekend, mostly outdoor use in the backyard. These are the perfect go anywhere speakers. The battery will usually last all night. Mine has taken alot of abuse. It has been dropped, left outside all night, gotten wet and it still works and sounds great. The only problem with mine is it will no longer charge my Ipod when plugged in which is not a big deal since I have alternative means. I like it so much that I am buying a second one and giving my old one to a good friend. They're pretty loud for their size, but don't expect them to shake the walls in your house. Great buy.

It's a great product and we have enjoyed hours of listening. If only the instructions had pointed out the legs swing out for balancing the unit we could have save a lot of time and worry trying to figure out how to balance it. Us dummies need all the instructions included!

Sound quality: distorted at higher volume outputs. Not the best sound for a comparable price, but has much better battery life so more numerous sounds.
Unlike other varieties, this unit can be balanced on its end to watch a video or complete movie with the screen in landscape mode, but its not very steadily.
Top controls are stiff and imprecise. Remote offers much more control over the sound volume. Menu button on the remote does nothing in my 2nd gen iPhone 3G. The dock does not have a forgiving fit.
Overall, sensible design,and goes anywhere.
I hope for a 20 year battery life, as it can't be replaced, and that durability is as good as they say.

i love this thing, it sounds great, much better than ihome, about the same as altec lansing but way more portable, its very very small but sounds incredible for its size! very simple, and very very durable.. mine has gone down the stairs twice and fell out of my car while turning at about 20mph and landed in the grass and still works great lol
i listen to a lot of tori amos/alanis/nirvana/poe type music and even all the way up it is crystal clear, no crackle, no distortion, no hissing, just clean clear smooth music with tight bass, this thing really excels with vocals!
i use it my car because it was cheaper than 4 new speakers and a cd player lol and it fits nicely on the dash.. u probably shouldn't try that tho, it can be dangerous.. like when it went out the window lol but if u have a volvo 240 it fits nicely!
the battery in this thing is probably the biggest surprise, it seems to never die!! we used it all day today (July 4th) at our bbq and it is still going strong!
my itouch fits snugly in the dock, and everything works great, i would highly recommend this to anyone, i do wish it had a usb thing or something so i don't have to take it out of the dock every time i want to sync with itunes, but i guess its a very small price to pay for what is probably the only simple, affordable, clean looking, not flashy but not dull ipod speaker system that just works and sounds great!

The portable audio for iPod is the best buy ever! the speaker sounds great. Has a built-in, rechargeable battery. comes with a travel case. The wall charger is awesome. Had a small and useful remote control.
Something that Logitech will put on the future a audio out RCA or 3.5mm jack to connect an external amplifier.

With the small small exception of the unit having balance issues, this is a fantastic buy.
No need for endless supplies of D or C batteries, which in turn makes it lightweight and very portable.
The case is well padded and has a spot to hold the nifty remote.
On top of all that, it charges your iPod/iPhone
And, last, but certainly not least, the sound quality is top shelf. I put my iPod in and played "More Than a Feeling" and was blown away. Hard to believe such a good, rich sound comes out of such small speakers.

This speaker system for the iPod is awesome. The sound is great for its size. The carrying case and the compact packaging make the speakers great to take it with you when you travel. The power is compatible from 120V-240V so it can go with you all around the world. The only reason why this didn't get a 5 star was the remote. It works, but it could have been made a little better. The buttons sometimes overlap so when you try to decrease the volume, it sometimes skips to the next song.
