Patience yields results.

Date:February 25, 2013
As with any product, there will be those who find the Harmony 1100 wonderful and those who have mostly complaints. I fall into the "wonderful" category. Elegant design, powerful software and almost unlimited configuration possibilities. However, it took me some time to get my setup where I wanted it. A fair amount of trial and error. In the end, though, I am very pleased to control my TV, DVR, Blu-Ray, sound bar, receiver, projector, lighting and can even raise and lower my projection screen. All using RF. It's not 100% perfect but I'm still working on it. Most of the issues I encountered during programming were resolved by reading the FAQs. Others with a little patience. And after reading quite a few other reviews I'm sure I saw FAQ solutions to many of the complaints folks have written about. Give it a try. Remember, most things that are cool have a quirk or two...

Complicated programming

Date:February 21, 2013
:Sony Bravia TV, Sony DVD, Motorola Cable Box, Harmon Kardon Amp.
The CD with the program for Mac did not allow the connection. Much searching later in internet did allow for a program that worked. I think the manufacturer should indicate how to download the right program in his installation sheet. The telephone number for service doesn't work outside the USA. He should have a valid telephone number which I can call if I need service.
Lastly, I cant find a way to allow the system to work with the Apple TV box.
I still haven't found a way to register favorite channels on cable vision.
Having a little patience and a investigative spirit the control is a good investment

Clumsy, and Irritatingly Unpredictable

Date:February 15, 2013
I am totally frustrated with where the Help button is, and why it is so tiny. The corner 123 button, and the corner function button are crammed into corners. Why? Why put them where it is so difficult to use, and you do need to use them constantly.
We also have the problem of the remote freezing and we have to pull the battery to reset it, or must do it online.
Nice, and convenient when it works in that all components can be controlled. Just wonder who designed such a cuckoo screen.

DOES NOT SUPPORT MAC!! Don't be fooled by the logo

Date:February 3, 2013
:none, it cant be set up with Mac
The box that this comes in clearly states that it supports Mac, yet it is not compatible with Mountain Lion (Version 10.8.2), which has been out for over 6 months.
If you are a Mac user do not buy this. You will be wasting your money, it can not even connect to the computer.
I made the mistake of buying it with Christmas gift certificates from Best Buy, then waiting to set it up. Now I am outside the return period and have no way to program it.

Fantastic

Date:December 29, 2012
To watch a DVD I would use four remotes. Now I just tap an icon. I was able to replace five remotes with one. Programming took less than 45 minutes with its simple software. My wife can now watch videos without calling me. It is one of my best gifts.

A boy's toy

Date:November 18, 2012
This would have to be the most overpriced gadget ever. In order to even get to the start line of choosing a channel, the user has to go through up to 5 screens. It took forever to set up and even now is obviously not working efficiently (the "boy" did all of this.) Apart from all of the above, the battery life is poor and then requires to be charged off the mains power. A very silly product.

Best Orginazation Tool for any Home Theater!!

Date:November 1, 2012
I bought the Harmony 1100 remote about 2 years ago and have never regretted it. It is a very unique eye catching remote that will defiantly give any entertainment center a sophisticated look with tons of customization.
I use to need 5 remotes to do anything, now it is just 1 simple click and I am all set. I eventually hooked up my Windows Media Center PC to the home theater; with the addition of the RF module I can even control that from 1 floor and 3 rooms away!
I am sad to see people rate it so low but I will admit there is a bit of a learning curve needed to get familiar with the software needed to set up this remote. I'm a pretty tech savvy guy and I admit I still don't fully understand how it all works. With a little trial and error and some patients I was able to set it up exactly as I wanted.
I got my father one of these remotes; he is the apex of anti-technology and initially wouldn't even try it. However even he has warmed up and uses it on a regular basis (once I set it up for him)
**In summary even though this device requires some research and patients I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND it for anyone looking for a high tech look and to lose their collection of remotes. **
Picture details:

*Epson Projector
*EliteScreen
*Sony AV receiver
*X-box 360
*Sony Blu-Ray Player

* Electronic blinds (not pictured but tested)

WORST REMOTE EVER

Date:October 26, 2012
This is truly the worst remote EVER. It's not easy to use and is SLOW. I also constantly have to re-set it. I am buying a new one today and it makes me sick to think I spent so much money on this!!!!

It is a very cool and awesome remote
its a bit slow
iv'e passed from the one to the 900 extreme slow and the 1100 is good not that fast but still not that slow and it has a lot of features and it's functioning very good.
it's a bit messy
some times it takes 1100 tries to find the right fit botton for it and a good place to put it.
plus its comfuzing sometimes
4 stars from me good run logitech.

PC software is awful

Date:September 16, 2012
while the remote itself is nice, the PC software to configure it is just a shame:
- unacceptable functional limitations (like, impossible to manually select an icon for an activity!)
- general awkwardness
- stupid GUI design
- not-so-good English translation (french is better)
I would gladly trade the useless slideshow feature for a robust, well designed configuration software.
While a basic setup will do the job, be prepared for some frustration.
For me, it spoiled the experience.

After 2 years I'm still glad I bought it

Date:July 26, 2012
I found the device extremely easy to set up. It even controls my 22 year old cd player. It works from a further distance than my Directv remote (I'm about about 20 feet from components.) The battery life is great. I leave it off the recharger for a week at a time. I use it constantly during the day (My HDTV, Directv receiver and Denon receiver are on usually 12+ hours per day).
The ONLY downside for me is not particular to the Harmony remote but to touch screens in general---there is no tactile relationship for the screen functions. Buttons give a tactile location (shape, location) to let me know what function I am about to call up.
[Logitech engineers: Maybe add an audible or electric "zap" to let the user know what "button" the user is about to select.]
A HUGE bonus: My husband doesn't have to find his reading glasses to use it.

Horrible!!!

Date:July 24, 2012
Don't waste your money. It's way too expensive, and is more f a hassle than anything else. Half of the time you have to press any button about 5 times for anything to respond. The set up utility for the computer is as slow as slow gets. Buy yourself a $30 universal remote and call it a day.

Absolutely awesome! Anyone can do it!

Date:June 29, 2012
Like so many, can't believe I waited this long to get a remote like this. The problem with all today's advanced electronics is that they all come with separate remotes and it can just be cumbersome to do the simplest things like watching a movie or the news. Pushing a single on-screen button to start up everything in mere moments is exactly what my family needed. Now my spouse and kids won't be intimidated by a pile of remotes sitting on the coffee table! The experience thus far has been fantastic, with the programming of the unit completely simple and straightforward (truly, anyone can do it in minutes). Coupled with the fact that I got this as a refurbished model from Logitech directly (looks brand new, just no box), it doesn't get much better. Even refurbished it cost a bit, but frankly I think it's worth it. Thanks, Logitech, from a long-time fan of your products. I have never been disappointed, and this just adds to the long list of great products I've purchased over the years.

works every other time (after reboot)

Date:May 13, 2012
This remote was selected by the AV professional who built the system. Nearly every time it is removed from the charging station, it presents us with the white screen of death. Watching television or movies has never been so complicated or time consuming. The question of whether or not it will work has become a household joke. On the bright side, we have devised a number of work-arounds that have turned out to be more efficient than even the times when the remote is working. We've put up with this for a year (possible only because we rarely watch tv), and are now moving on to a different system.

Expensive and unreliable.

Date:May 7, 2012
This is the second Logitech remote I have purchased. The first an 890 failed after a couple of years. I was told it was unrepairable. They offered me an 1100 at half price ($175). It has worked less that a year. Now because I am beyond 90 days they want $29.95 to reset it. I will give them one last chance, then return to my Samsung remote. WTS

Should have gotten this sooner

Date:May 5, 2012
You can do everything with this remote. It will control the state of all of your devices depending on what you want to do... so if I want to "Watch a DVD" (which is done on my Xbox 360) then it will power on my TV if it isn't on, switch my TV to the proper source input, turn on the Xbox and put it to the DVD section!
My TV is also a smart TV that has a Netflix app. I was a bit disappointed at first to see that this didn't have a setup for that, but I then learned about custom generic activities. It took a bit of finessing but I managed to be able to go control my Netflix App on my TV through this thing as well!
My only wish is that we could have custom icons for the activities, but it's not that big of a deal. Other than that it's GREAT!

I read the low ratings

Date:May 1, 2012
I've owned this remote for two years now. Got it cause the wife needs simplicity when dealing with the home theater. I don't understand why so many folks have given low ratings because it's hard to use. Not true at all. I'm not tech savvy but find programming the remote to be easy. The wife only has to touch the picture of what she wants to watch and everything else is magic!

Best Remote Ever

Date:April 23, 2012
The is by far the coolest and best remote ever manufactured!
Set up is super easy with the walk through software!
Had the whole system set up in under 30 minutes, and would have been faster if I wasn't trying to work at the same time.
I would highly recommend this!!!
