Pretty Good Remote

Date:May 18, 2010
I've got a Phillips reciever that uses a button to cycle through 4 input options, and 3 other buttons that select 3 other inputs. The remote can control inputs one way or the other, but not both, and I now have to manually select my input after choosing an activity. This is my only complaint, but all in all this has been a great remote. I would buy a Harmony remote again, but only if the new version has corrected this problem.

I like this remote a lot

Date:April 8, 2010
ive owned this remote for two moths now and it has made operating my entertainment center so much easier not having 5 remotes to fumble around with. the only draw back i can see is the 5 device limit i did not think i would need more but i was fooling myself i want a higher logitec model to cover all my endless expansions.their software covers every device you can think of even my remote light switch i can only imagine the features of their higher end remotes

very pleased

Date:March 13, 2010
I have had this remote for about 3 months now and i love it. I bought 2 of these on Black Friday from Best Buy for $40 each. One for my father and one for me. It can not be easier to set up. Took me about 30 minutes if that to set up. the longest part was finding all the serial #'s on my devices.
My father had a hard time with his though. I went over to see what the problem was. He was trying to use the learn IF function. I set it up for him and he loves it now.
My one complaint is that the input on the tv does not change right sometimes. not really that big of a problem. I also wished it controlled more than 5 devices. oh well.
Oh yea, my wife loves it too:)

Great remote

Date:March 10, 2010
I have had the remote for about a month and love it. I bought the remote based on the recommendation of the salesman. I needed a remote to replace three other remotes (TV, DVD, Digital TV Box with DVR, and Surround System). The Logitech 510 remote was easy to program and works better than I expected and it replaced all the other remotes. Highly recommend it to those that have 5 or fewer devices.

Very Poor Design

Date:March 10, 2010
I liked everything about my product, until it died after ~3 months. The battery leaked and the "juices" got on to the pc board thereby rendering it inoperable. I find it unbelievable that the battery compartment is not sealed to prevent such things from happening. Very poor design. I will not buy another Logitech remote ever again, which is too bad because I liked it.

works as advertised

Date:March 4, 2010
I bought the 510 based on price and reviews I read online. I only needed to control 5 devices so it was adequate in that regard but I could see if someone had more components to control, the 510 might not be the best choice. A friend had used a Harmony product in the past and complined that if he turned the tv on without using the remote it messed up the "activities" function ie; if the tv was already on when you pressed "watch a dvd", the remote then turned the tv off. I have found this to be a non-issue as in that case you simply need to push the "help" button and the 510 asks you which component is not on and turns it on. I also don't turn the tv on without the remote. The only complaint I have with the 510 is the number buttons are pretty small and that makes it just a little awkward to change channels. Otherwise the unit is attractive and feels good in my hand. I am tech challenged but my poor wife is hopeless. I came home on several occasions to find her sitting on the sofa with 5 remotes in her lap trying to figure out how to get the dvd player to show her a movie. With the "activities function on the 510 even she can get all the compnents tuned to the appropriate settings and see her movie. His makes her happy and that makes me happy. So tech challenged masses rejoice. These things really do work and can end the frustration

Poor Product

Date:March 2, 2010
Cumbersome to use, even more cumbersome to program. Does NOT control even half of the devices and brands stated on the box. Takes a VERY VERY VERY long time to update the settings in the remote. Random and extremely erratic operation.

Great product, great support

Date:February 21, 2010
I have only 3 devices to control so this remote works great for me. I am usually watching TV/DVD/Bluray through my HTPC or occasionally watching DVDs through a stand-alone player, routing audio through an A/V receiver. This remote works great for my set-up. My wife has always been complaining that she want a single button remote that she would not have to remember button functions and this seems to be as close as it gets. You only pres one button and the remote tells you what options you have and how to activate them.
Something very important - while setting-up the remote I got into a problem with switching the correct input for my LCDTV. I had to call support and they were very responsive, very helpful, were able to fix the problem online and even improved the set-up with some shortcuts so that everything would work faster. Good support is hard to find these days.
Have had it for a few weeks now and would highly recommend it.
Pros: Sleek design, easy to use, highly programmable - in my case it could repeat every single function of the original remotes, and even more - for the LCDTV it can directly switch the input source without having to scroll through all, whereas the original TV remote only does this through scrolling.
Cons: Only controls 5 devices.

LOVE IT- Took the place of 5 Remotes PERFECTLY

Date:February 19, 2010
I have a Plasma Samsung tv, a Sylvania Bluray, a Yamhaha reciever, a comcast DVR/cable box and a Xbox 360 and this remote controls each one perfectly and in unison!
At a touch of a button it will turn my tv on to the right compenent setting whether I'm watching T.V. or a DVD/Bluray eithe rturn on/off my yamaha reciever and does the same with the xbox 360. Every button can be customed to your likeing or don't change anything and you'll be amazed at the simplicity.
It only took 20-30 minutes to progam the remote.
The only downside I see see are the small buttons... but then again I think I might have fat fingers.
: ) Great purchase for $100.00 from BestBuy. The best part is only seeing 1 remote instead of 5. : )

Don't bother

Date:February 8, 2010
This remote worked well for about 6 months, and then many of the buttons started not working well, and you had to push them harder and harder to get them to work, and finally several buttons don't work at all, too late for any warranty. Waste of money. I would be afraid to buy the more expensive ones as they would probably do the same thing.

Economical and exactly what I was looking for

Date:February 7, 2010
After watching a recent episode of 'Modern Family' and seeing their new home theater setup with universal remote I went online to search for one. I noticed this particular model was from a well known manufacturer, and was definitely in the price range I was interested in. I'd love to buy a $500 remote, but this $100 one does exactly what I need it to- why not keep the cost down. It took 5 minutes to show my wife how easy it is to use- she was concerned about our DVR not working properly- not an issue. Blu-Ray, DVD, CD, TV, and... Probably going to purchase some sort of remote lighting setup for our new den. If you haven't noticed I'm very excited about this new toy!

This was absolutely amazing; first ever "all-in-one" that actually did all; even rotates the discs on the 5 disc dvd player - everything I could think of putting it through the tests. Pulled the windows 7 software - was done in 20 minutes. Best damned "thingy" I ever bought.

It is what I hoped for

Date:January 15, 2010
I have spent years trying different remotes and always came away disappointed. This one did the trick. I saw the price and bought 3 refurbs. 1 for the family room, the theater room and the bedroom. I am no Genius, but that was a great move to shorten the learning curve. It took less time to program all 3 than 1 from all the other remotes including URC. It operates everything as expected (or hoped!). Whatever room I am in, it's all alike. I made the mistake of letting the wife name a remote, so 1 name is ridiculously long. But, the ploy worked and she loves using it, the ultimate test for the tech challenged. I am 48 years old and this is one of my best tech purchases ever.

I LIKE IT!!!

Date:January 12, 2010
I liked being able to download the exact controllers I have been using for 5 electronic devices... not an issue... You still have to understand how to use YOUR equipment.. like speakers on/off... ....I had problems but they were MY problems... nothing wrong with the unit. I would like a BIGGER unit with fatter keys... and it could use more balance in the hand.... BUT none of those concerns would stop me from buying it again... In summary, it is a very good unit.... and I was afraid to buy a universal remote... very pleased

Bought to Replace Harmony XBOX 360 Remote

Date:January 10, 2010
Like the title says, I bought it to replace the XBOX 360 version of this remote which, after 3 years of service, suffered a blank LCD screen after falling off he couch and onto the hardwood floor. I wanted another 360 remote, but they have been discontinued. I was still able to find them online but I ran across the 501 while I was at Best Buy. I noticed the 501 also had the colored buttons, similar to the 360 remote, and I wondered if it would be able to control my 360. So I bought it and figured I'd give it a try.
I got it home and installed the software. It went very smoothly. Even thought the Harmony XBOX 360 remote and the Harmony 510 look very similar, I was concerned that I would have to spend the whole evening reprogramming this remote. Nope! There is an option within the software to upgrade to a new remote. I just hit the upgrade button, plugged the USB cable into the remote and it transferred over all of my settings!! The only thing I had to do was remap the A, B, X and Y buttons, which was also pretty painless.
My overall impression of this remote is that it is an improvement over my previous XBOX 360 remote. The buttons are better, they have a crisp feel to them and work every time they are pushed. On the old remote sometimes I had to mash the buttons. The font in the LCD is bolder which makes it easier to read.
The only change I would make to the remote is to move the directional pad up and the DVD controls down. I didn't rate 5s because there isn't a 4.5 and there is still room for improvement. Other than that, this is a great remote at a great price!!

Is what it says it is. All in one remote.

Date:January 7, 2010
Setup was a llittle confusing at first because of my computer is runnig windows 7. But after visiting the website for a download for windows 7 it worked well. I did have to program the remote for some of the directv buttons but with the help button I changed the buttons to the correct settings and it worked fine. It took about 20 minutes to setup. Make sure you get all of your equipment model numbers right or you couldl have problems. It was nice to use one button to watch TV and then switch over to a DVD without having to find three different remotes.

Nice Remote, but some challenges

Date:January 3, 2010
Fairly straightforward to configure using the software and online facilities, however, I was unable to get it to successfully work with by DISH DVR. Manual training of each button resolved the issue, but wasn't intuitive.
Sometimes have to press an activity multiple times before configuration of all devices is set correctly.

Not what I expected

Date:December 25, 2009
Purchased for myself to replace several remotes. Bought based on Logitech's reputation and on my past experience with their products. Sadly this unit fails to perform on many levels. Data base was lacking, online support was poor, and unit does not work as advertised. I have tried to reproggram the unit and nothing has changed. Sadly this item fails big time in my opinion.
