If you have large hands, consider this grip as part of the purchase price of the G9. As a point of reference, my hand is about 9 inches from the wrist to the tip of the middle finger. As described, it does feel more like the traditional Logitech shape that many are used to. It reminds me of the MX1000 a bit. The default grips that came with the original mouse were okay for me. I was previously using the wide grip. When I use a mouse, I don't necessarily lay my palm on it. My palm usually lightly touches the mouse, but adds a lot of stability to my usage. The normal wide grip for me left me using my fingers only, which made me feel as if I had less control based on my style and fatigued my hand quicker. When I got this grip, it immediately felt home to me and I felt as if I had more control. The original grips with the G9 felt like a different experience that I was trying to get used to. Also, the side buttons seemed to line up better for me and "in the right place". With the wide grip, I needed to do some dexterity moves to hit the foward button.
The grip is a bit heavier than the default grips. I think it needs to be more solid since it is noticeably bigger than the default ones and this could be to make sure it does not flex at all. I noticed the difference in weight at first, but got used to it quick. Speaking of flex, none at all. This grip pops in and is very tight. I noticed some flex with the default wide grip (since I needed to use my fingers more than I am used to). Again, this grip is well made, of good quality and solid.
I did not customize, so I cannot opine on that. However, I took a conservative pattern and it looked really good. I will probably do a more gamer personal grip one day.
My only comment is the price. It is not a concern to me personally, but I can imagine that many people might pass over this grip because it is about $30 after including taxes and shipping. The biggest shame is that many of these people might have a completely better experience after getting it as I did. From owning the grip, as noted before, the quality is really good and it feels well made. I would suggest that maybe logitech lower the price a hair and offer free shipping to get the final price closer to $20 even.
In summary, this grip made the G9 go from pretty good to being glad that I have the mouse. I instantly noticed that I have better control and it felt closer to what I am used to.

I went with the Trance design because I wanted a nice stock image looks natural to the grip. Mission accomplished! The design is actually gradient, being dark on the top and a little less gray than the gallery portrays at the bottom. The design is actually of corduroy, which balances out the braided cable nicely. I am more than pleased.
I only gave 4 stars for features because the skate on this grip is a bit bigger than the one on the stock wide grip, making it hard to find a third-party replacement. It has been a few months since release, and I haven't been able to locate a single one.

the shape is pure perfection, however the print quality leaves a lot to be desired. they seem to be using a low dpi printer. how low i could not guess, but not nearly as good as i was expecting. the other thing about the print that bothers me is the feel of the surface that the image is printed on. its a hard, pressed plastic, so sweaty palms become very clingy, and it gets a bit uncomfortable after a few hours of use. lastly, i really wish the whole grip were made of the polymer material used for the precision grip. that material is much better at A, providing a griping surface, and B, keeping your hands dry during extended use. overall I'd say ~8/10 if they would release one with the same shape, no printed images, and made with the other grip material, it would be perfect beyond words. *hint hint nudge nudge* logitech :P

I upgraded from the famous MX518 so i already had an idea of what an amazing gaming mouse was like. Every design aspect of this mouse is great; from the interchangeable grips to the hyperfast scrolling, on-the-fly profile changing and especially customizable weights.
The weights allow heavy handed people to fine tune the performance of their mouse for perfect control - so when you're leading sniper shots you don't accidentally zoom your mouse across the screen missing completely.
So if you don't quite have the precise hands of a sugeon, you can still shoot like Rambo.
Both the grips offer a superb level of control, my personal preference the large smooth one. Another amazing feature is to be able to control the polling on the mouse
Overall a grreat purchase, but the setpoint software needs to be updated to accomodate keystroke assignments on the side buttons, for example shift and ctrl.

The G9 stands alone in front of all the other gaming mice. The changable grips are great, but I prefer the wide grip. The width of the grip shape sits perfectly in the palm of my hand. Also it feels like silk with an ultra-soft tecture. After an extended battle scene with my palm soaked with sweat, I had full control of the mouse sliding smoothly across the mouse pad.
The laser tracking never skips a beat with the dpi range of 200dpi-3200dpi. With 5 mouse profile settings and macros make gaming better than ever.
But the feature I really enjoy is being able to change the weight of the mouse. I always griped about mice feeling like feathers. There is finally a gaming mouse with what I think is one of the best features you could have on a mouse. The weights and the wide grip are what make the G9 stand above the rest. Keep up the great work Logitech.
