Great product. I would only change a few things about it. I would definitely use the thumbstick for movement unlike what another reviewer said. I thing the thumbstick ability to move is key.
The thumbstick material is not so good as it's just plastic, I found my thumb slipping off it and sometimes hard to use. I ended up modding the pad by removing the stick and replacing it with a thumbstick from a logitech gamepad....much better. More like using a PS2 thumbstick and one of the few engineering changes that should be made.
The other change has to do with the positioning of the keys. With my middle finger resting on the G11 key it is not so easy to lift it and press the G17 key, just below it, so I would prefer to pull my middle finger towards that button as if clenching my hand. This would require the g17 button to face more towards the g11 key or more horizontal than it is now.
I own two of these. Hand size will be important.

I have used a number of gaming peripherals for MMOs. I tried the Belkin n51/Razer Nostromo and even one of those older Warrior Xxtreme and the zBoards. Nothing has compared to the ease of use, logic and functionality of this peripheral: the G13.
I have owned mine for about 2 1/2 years and it has been such a blessing if you are someone into PvP or RvR. I have recommended this peripheral to a great number of my gaming buddies and they have all said this is the greatest thing they own for gaming.
Now, it does take some getting use to. Not very long though. It is more of a personal way you want to set up your G13 than anything and remembering your keybinds, etc.
One word of advice with this device. The thumb-joystick is not something you should use as a movement device. Instead, lock it into some keybinds like 1,2,3,4, etc. I have found, and so have my friends, that the best movement keys are using the G4, G10,G11 and G12 as your WSAD keys (those Gkeys even have little indents in them so your fingers feel them out easier as your WSAD keys. And the G22 key is PERFECTLY positioned to be your space/jump key.
All in all, this is a fantastic peripheral and you would be an idiot not to buy this. This is far superior to any MMO mouse or keyboard. This is device is the pinnacle of gaming peripherals.

I love this product and use it daily for both my work (Programming) and video gaming. Setting up profiles and macros is rather simple, and lets you automate tasks that are repeated often.
I only have 2 dings for it, the first is that i have larger than normal sized hands, and sometimes i wish that there was some sort of adjustable screws to adjust the curve of the wrist rest and the location of the thumb stick. The second is that i wish there was another row of keys above the current lay out. Mostly for video gaming purposes, i keep my fingers on the "WASD" layout keys and that means i don't have any keys above my position, somewhat limiting the number of items i can bind to the keypad. Were Logitech to add these features id easily spend any amount to get that item.

No two people's hands are the same size , so sure, some will complain about the ergonomics. But , that being said, this keypad is all you could hope for. Most issues i have read in other reviews are simply a matter of others not understanding how to operate the macro features or other tech issues. Bottom line : GET THIS !,...you will not be sorry!

This is a very great pad. Works exceptionally well with the new 8.0 software which ties all the logitech Gameing devices into one package. The main flaw to me is that I am Left Handed so I need this for my Right Hand. Please Logitech have some faith in the fact that a item like this will sell as there is a large number of people out in the world that is Left Handed. you make a left handed gameing mouse just test a right hand gameing pad. I will definately by one.

This isn't about the current functionality. It's awesome and easy to use. This review is suggestions for how it could be made better.
1. Move the 'Macro Record' button to where the light button is. Nobody would want the lights off. It looks cooler with the lights on and it makes it where you can tell which bank you're on with your peripheral vision. Also, I can't tell you how many times I accidentally hit the MR button when trying to switch to bank 3.
2. With the Macro Record button out of the way, use the fourth button for... oh, I don't know... a fourth bank? Bam! 33% more buttons, instantaneously. Not to mention, no more accidentally hitting the Macro Record button.
3. Make the 'thumb controls' area able to be put on either side of the unit. Also, give it a third button on the top. This would make it ambidextrous. I'm sure the number of people who use the mouse with their left hand is a very low number, but why exclude them? You could also make it where, when switching from one side to the other, the buttons reorient, so the function assigned to the bottom button when it's on the right is assigned to the bottom button when it's on the left.
4. Be able to have 2 completely independent units. My friend and I hooked up both of ours to his computer and, although it recognizes both of them, it treats them as one. When you switch profiles, it switches for both. When you switch banks on one, it switches on the other. By combining this with suggestion 3, you could virtually eliminate the need for a standard keyboard and mouse. Also, by being able to position each G13 comfortably for each arm, reducing fatigue and carpal tunnel. Not to mention, having eight banks of macros and 2 joysticks.
5. Fix the glitches on Macs. Standard functionality is fine, but I have to unplug from my mac and hook it up to a PC if I want to make any changes to programming. I've had macros crash the software.
I think that's all I've got. Again, I love the G13, but these changes would make it phenomenal!

The newest software updates have improved on this device greatly. You can configure a default layout, which is very helpful (previously you *had* to configure a layout for each game separately it seemed).
The gamepad is responsive, comfortable, highly customizeable, has plenty of keys, lots of light color options and nice software support.
I only have 2 small complaints. You cannot change the order or designate a default LCD app (at least not that I could find). The little "thumb stick" is not analog, it is a 4 way switch. I am actually fine with this except that it handles as if it were analog. It would be nice if the stick were designed to feel more like a 4 way switch (like maybe only moving in those directions). However, I use the thumb stick as my weapon switcher (1 - 4) and it works great, superior to scrolling with mouse wheel in FPS games.

I love this controller. Replaced an old Speedpad N52 that I finally wore out. Still trying to get familiar with the layout. But the possibilites seem endless. My only wish is that there was a left handed version of this controller and that maybe it could be a little smaller, really takes up a lot of desktop real estate.

Well, where to begin? First off, let me disclaim this post by saying that this is the first GP I have OWNED, but not the first I have USED.
I have had the pleasure of using the speed pad that two other certain companies sold, which is nice, but lacks button capacity, features, and FEEL.
The G13 (despite what others have said) is perfectly ergonomic... to a degree. There was one major thing I didn't like about the non-G13 gamepad: Freedom. The G13 is ergonomic ENOUGH to cradle your hand and offer comfort, but what most people don't realize is anything ergonomic to the human anotomy constricts versatility.
Another complaint I hear is that it is that it is too large for your fingers and that people have wasted buttons out of reach. It does give you quite a large number of buttons, but they are all of differing in shape and spacing, meaning that you know where your hand is at all times. Also, the 'free ergonomics' of it allow you to place your hand in one of about 10-20 positions, either laying your hand on it and seeing where your fingers fall, lining up a row of buttons, WASD set-up, ect. Also, just because you don't use ALL the buttons for EVERY GAME, doesn't mean they are useless.
Lastly, I like how sturdy it feels. The 'other' pad I used felt cheap and almost all plastic. The G13 offers a nice heavy metal base plate, a cross-hatched rubber wrist rest, solid rubber feet, and my favorite part.... BEVELED POLYMER COMPOSITE BUTTONS! Not that cheap PETE or PT or PE2 plastice, composite, like what they use in military grade plastics. I now own the G13 and the G700 and still am devout to Logitech. Have fun friends, and see you on the battlefield.

I am not at all a gamer. Instead I purchased this to use with Adobe Lightroom. I spent 30 minutes deciding what keys/scripts I use most. Programming them took maybe 2 minutes. I edited some photos for 10 minutes and I don't know why I never got this thing before. It's frakin' AWESOME!!
One thing I don't like is you can't extend-press buttons. For example, I programmed the G15 button to be "Shift". But when I hold G15 it only presses Shift once. It doesn't keep shift held like when I do on a real keyboard.

A friend actually recommended the G13 to me. At first, I was a little caught off guard on how much it took to get used to using a device like this. I honestly thought after the first 5 minutes to put it back. I am telling you, once you get past the weirdness of using a new device (especially this one) you will be greatly rewarded for your patience and persistence. I use this game pad for all my games now, its just marvelous. I used it all the time for WoW and I use it currently for PotBS and Rift. There is something to be said about having 20+ hotkeys comfortably within reach of one hand. The fact that you can customize every key is just awesome. Really, if you put time into this peripheral, you will wonder how you ever enjoyed using a regular keyboard for gaming. I can't recommend this product enough, its worth it.

I've used this gamepad for over a year now, after throwing out a couple other that were worthless, and I must say this one is great.
I have read the reviews on here siting poor ergo and this making the pad difficult to use, but this concept is lost on me. I have had no problems with this whatsoever. Sure I'll miss a press every now and then, but no more often than I would have a typo using a keyboard. I configure the buttons the way I want them (I use the middle of the gamepad keyboard as my primary action sets) and away we go. That's the beauty of the product, it can be configured however you want it. I have had no software issues, no multiple key reaction issues, really no issues at all. It may not be the exact shape of my hand, which would be awesome, but it certainly does what it needs to do.

The keypad works like a dream, but, like some of the reviewers are mentioning, the ergo design, how can you say how bad that is.... There is nothing good about the ergo design.
You should be able to lay your hands on it and know, with your eyes closed, which keys you are on. Seem a little extreme? Get a good game, last thing you want is to hit the wrong keys and have to take your eyes off the screen to see where the right ones are.
I resorted to gluing drawer glides on it to help, but even 2 of those, one on top of the other, are not helping.
The programming of the keyboard is a dream, I love the screen, and that I can make it say what I want.

It's a good looking product that is easily programmable and with very attractive features, however, one of the main factors in a decent gaming keypad design is a logical, comfortable key layout that is easy to master. The keyboard layout of this device leaves MUCH to be desired.
In future designs I would recommend keeping the movement keys at the bottom of the keypad and your action buttons on the top and to the sides.
Also, keep the rows of keys to groups of 4, and don't worry about crowding the landscape with so many keys.
One more thing I would do is make the palm rest adjustable (not all hands are built the same.)
In all there is potential here, but in its current state it's just too clumsy for practical use for gaming IMHO.

I've been using the G13 for over a year now and going through these reviews I think I should mention that the buttons will sometimes macro surrounding buttons.
So if I press g17 for example, it might fire off g16, g18 ect which is detrimental most of the time.
I also use the G15 keyboard 1st and 2nd edition and this does not happen although it isn't the same 'type' of keyboards.
Will I continue to use the G13, yes but when I wipe the group I'll be blaming it.
