I like the size, the looks, the feel, if only I could get it
to work. Each time I turn off my computer I have
to re start my mouse. Sometimes it won't start at
all, like now :-( Someone must have been reading
this report. It's working now :-) Good Luck !

Super Mouse.

Date:June 9, 2010
I have used the M555b mouse for the last 8 months.
I looked at reviews before I got it and while the reviews were generally good, there were some complaints that the cursor wandered, the batteries didn't last long and that the connection wasn't very reliable.
My experience is that none of these complaints were anything to do with the mouse.
I have found it to be extremely reliable, precise and a joy to use.
Of course an ambidextrous mouse will not have the exact shape of your hand, but look at the advantages.
The spin wheel makes navigation easy, it can be used as a remote control, there is only one object to pack, and it is a design classic.
To those reviewers who complained I would say, if you complain about the battery life - use good batteries, if your cursor wanders - find out which program is overloading your PC, if you have trouble connecting - use the Logitech set up software and check that your PC Bluetooth is enabled.
My M555b connected immediately and has performed faultlessly ever since.
It would be nice if it beeped in response to a whistle similar to a key finder. I would then have less trouble finding which papers it's hiding under!

Love It!

Date:June 1, 2010
I had been looking for a replacement for Apple's skittish Magic Mouse because I'd often set the screen scrolling just by grabbing it. And successfully manipulating a right-click was like doing brain surgery - arrghh!
I already had replaced Apple's tiny, Chiclet keyboard with a full-fledged one from Logitech and was hoping to find a mouse that used their unifying USB receiver - not many of those do so for the Mac. So I ended up looking for a Bluetooth model.
I have not been disappointed. It is small and meant to pair with notebooks, but I use it with my iMac and appreciate the fact it doesn't take up much desk space and I'm not wielding this gargantuan mouse with more bells and whistles than I really need.
Only once towards the beginning did it seem to have a time delay where the pointer wasn't moving in sync with me. Other than that, it has been as precise as any mouse I've had.
Scrolling is a breeze. Clicking the scroll wheel between hyper-scrolling and notched-scrolling is convenient and a capability I really appreciate. Sometimes you just want to notch down through text and other times you want to breeze through your album cover art in iTunes.
It comes with software to fine-tune your button's capabilities, but it will pair up with your iMac without even loading it and I haven't had the need to do so.
I highly recommend this mouse!

Disappointment

Date:May 4, 2010
Bought this mouse since it was Bluetooth and I have it on my laptop. It eliminated the need of a usb receiver and tying up a port, but that's about all I have to say about this mouse that's good. Connectivity is the number one fault and although I do consider myself rather tech-saavy, this mouse almost ended up through my window. It took almost two hours to figure out why tis mouse wouldn't work. I made sure the bluetooth drivers were installed prior to connecting, but that didn't seem to matter. I eventually had to connect my phone to my laptop through bluetooth to troubleshoot whether it was my laptop or the mouse. Funny, after the phone was connected, then the mouse worked...talk about a royal pain! Battery life....what of it? I have had this mouse for about 3 months now and I have had to change the batteries 3 times already...that's pretty bad considering my old usb mouse battery life was almost a year. I may be shopping for something else...Logitech didn't hit the mark on this product.

Love this mouse!

Date:April 22, 2010
This mouse was exactly what I was looking for. I could not find it in nearby local stores, so I ordered it hoping it would fit the bill. I was not disappointed. Nice size, great tracking (except for my glass covered wood desk), and I even like the "click" sound it makes.
Best feature: the two-mode scroll wheel. Most mice either have a bumpy "detented" feel when they scroll, or a smooth feel. This one has both! Just click down on the wheel and toggle between your preferred scroll feel. Awesome.
Highly recommended!!

Poor Tracking

Date:April 12, 2010
While this looks just like the USB version, it just doesn't track as well. It's a little jittery. This might not affect a lot of users, but if you're in need of a high-resolution mouse that responds exactly as you move, stick with the USB version. I'm a graphic designer and need precise control. This mouse doesn't cut it.

Bugs Fixed by LCC v3.2

Date:February 13, 2010
The latest version of Logitech Control Center has fixed my issues w/ hangs when using Firefox bookmarks and OS X Finder (OS X v10.6.2).
The mouse is now smooth as silk, and I couldn't be happier. I have also used the Bluetooth version of Might Mouse and the Microsoft 5000 Bluetooth mouse. I much prefer the Logitech M555B.
Highly recommended.

great purchase

Date:January 2, 2010
If you want easy control without wire that prevent you free movement, built in bluetooth control from your laptop/pc to operate, I definitely recommend this mouse.
bside it have nice features as in scrolling the windows, meaning if you have opened many windows you can easily scroll them by pressing one bottom which present the open windows into small shortcuts in the mainframe (desktop) and you have to choose the desired one, actually I didn't see this feature only in iMac although I am using window vista but its cool. the only option that lack is the volume control bottom. even though it has many features to present: as minimize, maximize. that's why I gave 4/5 on feature but overall rating is 5/5,again I recommend this peace

Very Good Mouse

Date:December 31, 2009
I did a lot of research before buying this bluetooth mouse. I'm not interested in "bells and whistles". I didn't load the software that came with the mouse. I use it with a Macbook Pro. It quickly connected. I use it as a three button mouse. The wheel is only for scrolling. I keep it on the lowest speed. I have no use for sideways movement. The button I use most is the square one below the wheel for opening a link in a new window. The mouse responds quickly. I'm not a gamer nor power user. The batteries are good after several months of daily use. I did leave it on overnight at least once. The mouse has good weight and is comfortable in my hand. I highly recommend it for someone who wants a solid, dependable mouse. I must admit, I have had problems when I held it upside down. I don't recommend that.

Disconnect Artist

Date:December 13, 2009
I purchased this mouse to replace another that died. I researched it for a couple of days: my requirement was to have a wireless mouse with a reliable operating distance of at least 10 feet. I also wanted a large, standard size mouse. I chose the Logitech M555b because it is Bluetooth. I did not know the size at the time of purchase. It is a "medium size" mouse...really too small for my taste.
I installed the software. and the mouse worked.
I discovered that the mouse disconnected after an hour of inactivity. I had to use another mouse to rediscover it and reconnect it. No amount of on-off, connect button, battery removal would reconnect this thing. It was DEAD.
I attempted on line support...no good. I called and got a knowledgable tech, not in India, who was very helpful. I described my problem with disconnect. He told me to uninstall the Logitech software and reboot the machine. I did that, and the mouse came alive. He told me that if this did not fix the problem, they would take the product back and in his words "replace the mouse with another of standard size that has less complexity and has no known problems with disconnect".
I have used it this way for 2 days. No disconnect.
My useage is remote to run the computer while watching movies on the big screen via a monitor cable. I think the problem is that while in movie mode, the system is totally consumed with this job, and the interrupt to make the mouse work is drowned out in the other stuff going on. The interrupt, evidently, activates the Logitech software that maintains the mouse options. This is probably where the inability to reconnect comes from. And, after the disconnect, only an overt act of entering the Bluetooth software to discover and reconnect will work. ...Reboot works as well ;-)
Anyway, the Bluetooth protocol, Logitech software and movie watching are all to difficult for this baby.
If you take the defaults and DONT install the software, you might be happy with the M555b.
Logitech support is excellent!

Very happy with this mouse

Date:October 31, 2009
This mouse handles very well. The extra weight from the batteries - which turns some users off - seems nice to me. I get about a week out of the batteries, unless I leave it on overnight. It will be drained the next morning. I wish Logitech had provided for recharging, but you can solve that easily by getting a recharger for 4 AA's. Then you always have two available. In both Mac and Windows, the mouse has to be reconnected fairly often - but not always - when you reboot.

Go Wireless, Go Bluetooth

Date:October 27, 2009
This is Logitech's only other Bluetooth mouse (V470 was the older one) and it definitely has its upsides. It's priced the same as the V470 (at least from the store i got it from) and there are some improvements over the older Bluetooth V470, but there are some minor issues as well which would hardly bother most people.
Look & Feel
1. It looks sleek with its glossy surface and its overall slim design and not forgetting that shiny silver Logitech logo plate.
2. Due to it's slim form factor, it doesn't exactly have the best ergonomics although the slightly raised back helps keep the rear end steady and this is important because:
3. The 2 AA batteries add a bit of weight to the rear end of the mouse resulting in a slightly uneven force distribution. You will get used to it though, none of these are big issues, just highlighting.
Features & Performance
1. The M555b definitely has more features than the older V470. The M555b comes with Logitech's MicroGear (Hyper Scrolling) technology and an Application Switch button which can be reassigned with the included SetPoint software.
2. The tracking on this mouse is excellent, pin-pointing is no issue and there's practically zero noticeable lag. The mouse fairs excellently on this point.
3. Battery life is nothing to shout about, but it is adequate. (Based on the estimate battery life from SetPoint software).
Conclusion
Need a bluetooth mouse? Get one. It works like a charm and feels surprisingly solid, too for a notebook mouse but maybe it's due to the added battery weight. For the same price as the V470, why not get the newer, feature-packed, better looking one?

Nice tracking but uncomfortable.

Date:August 30, 2009
As a pointing device, the tracking and connectivity of this mouse are flawless. I use it for desktop, gaming (TF2 mostly) and some graphic design and haven't noticed any precision error or response lag. It's not that comfortable though. The back edge sticks into your palm if you use it sitting at a desktop (I think it was meant to be used by someone standing at a podium, with palm arched over the mouse). It could use back and forward buttons too, though you can map the wheel tilt to those functions. Decent mouse and a proof that Bluetooth is ready for primetime, but try it out in a store before buying.

Kills the Apple Mighty mouse

Date:August 26, 2009
Bought this to replace a mighty mouse, and its useless trackball that needed cleaning every few days. MUCH BETTER!!! I can dial in just the feel i want with the logitech software. Nice solid feel and Im really liking the scroll wheel, as others have noted at least 1 other programmable button would be nice.

Using this mouse on a MBP core 2 duo @ 2.2GHz, running on OS X 10.5.8. LCC v3.
I really want to like this mouse, but it is causing some buffer issues w/ Finder and the Firefox Bookmarks menus. I am getting very frequent hangs, where the mouse will not work until I wait 10 seconds or so or click on the keyboard.
If this were fixed, I would recommend this mouse over the competitors, which I have tried. But until it is fixed, I would not recommend this mouse.

Great Mouse!

Date:July 23, 2009
I bought this mouse from this site about a week ago and just got it today. It is almost exactly what I'm looking for. Bluetooth works great. I love the expose button. With the free Logitech software SetPoint I set left scroll as copy and right scroll as paste, which is very convenient. If you click the middle scroll button, it toggles between fast scroll and normal scroll (puts/takes away the clicks when scrolling). When you are fast scrolling, it just rolls and keeps rolling until you stop it with your finger.
It's perfect for the MacBook Pro!
The ONLY problem I have is it's ergonomics. It's not bad or anything, its just not that perfect form fitting mouse like the Logitech V450 (which I also have), however it is still comfortable. It's worth it because it doesn't take up a USB port and doesn't have a little wireless numb sticking out of the USB port.
If Logitech made it as form fitting as the V450, it would be the best mouse in the world. Again, it's not uncomfortable, it's just not perfect... It's still a great mouse! The best bluetooth mouse on the market!

Love This Bluetooth Mouse

Date:June 25, 2009
We desperately needed a new mouse for our iMac after growing to despise Apple's Mighty Mouse. We had two simple requirements: Bluetooth (no dongles), and full sized.
The M555B is obviously Bluetooth. And while it's not quite full sized, it's bigger than the typical "notebook" or "travel" mouse.
It paired with our iMac immediately (I did have to press the "Connect" button on the bottom while our Mac sniffed for Bluetooth devices). I never bothered to install the Logitech software.
Ergonomically it feels substantial - nothing cheap about it.
The wheel is fantastic. In fast mode, it scrolls super fast and smooth - like a race car. I love it! If you click the wheel down, it shifts into "slow" mode, where it basically feels like a "normal" mouse, with little clicks as you scroll.
And that little "application changer" button on top works perfectly out-of-the-box, it brings up the Mac gadgets, similar to what F3 on my keyboard does.
Totally love this mouse. Perfect replacement for the outrageously bad Apple Mighty Mouse.

Almost perfect

If it had one more programable button on the left side to the back of it and if the right click didn't push into my finger (based on how I naturally hold the device), it would have been perfect.

Could use some work

Date:June 18, 2009
The build quality is great, as expected from a Logitech product. No lag from the mouse either. However, it doesn't feel as good in my hands as the VX Nano did. My major gripe about this is the lack of side buttons and a second scrolling wheel on the side.
It's not a bad mouse by any means, but I highly suggest Logitech to make a bluetooth version of the VX Nano.
