This mouse is very comfortable. I use this mouse on my Windows 7 laptop and mostly for gaming. I play FPS and RTS games and it's does a nice job. The battery included is rechargeable AA battery and the battery life is about 4-7 days. The USB cable included is good for playing and charging at the same time.

Great durability and ease of use

Date:October 14, 2012
Though this mouse does not give you 467834684 extra buttons to use like other mice do (see G-series) it feels great to your hand (like every other Logitech mouse does) and it performs really fast. I own it for over 2 years and a half and it has never let me down (and i am not known to behave properly to my peripherals (has fallen on the floor several times etc.). Sadly modern production line products are rarely flawless (a machine cannot know if everything is fitted in correctly - it just does what humans tell it to do) this mouse, like any other product of its kind, may have/have not any inherent problems. I was lucky to get a pretty nice one. i hope you enjoy this mouse as much as i did.

Battery Life Below Average

Date:October 4, 2012
I love the mouse for what it is and does but I hate the very short battery life. It needs to be redesigned for improved battery performance. I'm lucky to get through a week before it requires charging. I keep several Sanyo Eneloop's ready for changing out because I don't like the clumsy power cord being attached. I'm afraid the battery compartment door is going to wear out at this rate.
On the other hand, my wireless K800 illuminated keyboard rocks. Battery lasts for several months before needing a charge.
Logitech, you need to go back to the drawing board on your Performance MX.

Great for Everyday Use and Gaming

Date:October 2, 2012
After contacting Logitech's excellent customer service about my broken MX1100, they sent me this free of charge. When it arrived I was skeptical that it could beat it's predecessor, but after a few days of using it I knew that it was a worthy addition to my desktop. With its perfectly contoured ergonomics and free scrolling wheel, the Performance Mouse MX performs admirably in everyday life, and although it caps at 1500 DPI, it was just enough for me to game wirelessly without noticeable lag. I would recommend this product to anyone who asked and would say the same about Logitech in general. 5/5

No MX Revolution

Date:September 28, 2012
Noe a replacement for the MX Revolution mouse. I wish Logitech would bring back that form factor and weight with the updated tech. This performance MX was sent to me as a replacement for my revolution MX and I wish I had kept the revolution and just replaced the battery myself.

Approach with caution

Date:September 27, 2012
This mouse has an excellent assortment of features, which are, for the most part, easy to use. The duel-moded scroll wheel is amazing. So is the zoom feature (although it can be a bit wiggy).
Do not buy this product if you have a black mouse pad, or plan on using one at any point in the future. It seems that the technology Logitech used to allow the mouse to work on glass for some reason makes the mouse extremely slow and imprecise on black surfaces.
The only other issue I have is that if the connection goes out (after I step away from the computer for a few minutes or what have you), then the only way to re-establish connection is by restarting the computer. This is extremely frustrating.
It's a great, forward thinking mouse with a multitude of features. But buy with caution.

Significant downgrade from prior flagship

Date:September 21, 2012
This is a great mouse for anyone who hasn't used Logitech's prior flagship mouse, the MX Revolution. This is its replacement, offered at the same price as the now-discontinued Revolution (which you can still find, but only for a very large mark-up). Unfortunately, while there are some nice enhancements, it's an overall downgrade, disappointing many users of the MX Revolution, myself included (there were over 100 complaints on Logitech's announcement blog before they locked the post down, disallowing further comment).
First, the good:
- The new sensor allows you to use the mouse on any surface, including glass. They're promoting this like crazy, but it seems like it's not really a big deal (hard mouse on hard glass is a recipe for scratches on one or both, if any grit gets between them, so I don't see myself wanting to use it on glass). This new sensor should mean better tracking on all surfaces, though, which is great.
- The new thumb button underneath the rubber is really cool, and very convenient to use.
- The DPI can be changed on the fly if you use the software that the mouse ships with.
- The accessories are very nice - a travel case, a USB charge cord and a USB-to-outlet-power adapter (which presumably can be used with any USB-charging device), and a USB extension cord for the receiver.
- The new receiver is tiny, so there's no risk of accidentally hitting it and breaking it if it's plugged directly into your computer.
- The new receiver is a "unifying" receiver, meaning it'll work with other cordless devices that support it. If you plan to buy another brand new Logitech input device, and if they stick with this interface in the long term, this could be really useful.
The bad:
- What made the MX Revolution revolutionary was the smooth wheel scrolling, which could be activated by a customized "SmartShift" setting - spin it fast, and it'll switch to smooth scrolling mode automatically. Since it was controlled in software, it also meant you could program ANY button to toggle scroll modes. Once you get used to this feature, you'll NEVER want to use a mouse without it. Unfortunately, Logitech dropped the feature, so you'll never again find a new mouse that has the feature. It was replaced by a cheap-feeling mechanical toggle button that cannot be reprogrammed. This is a major step backwards. They claim it was removed because it confused users, but public user comments _unanimously_ say otherwise. I strongly suspect it was discontinued because it was more expensive to implement than the current method.
- The MX Revolution had a cradle, which made it really easy to charge the mouse - drop it in the cradle overnight. The Performance MX replaces it entirely with a power cord, which has a small, fragile plug. This is probably better for travelers and laptop users, but a step backwards for desktop users.
- The Forward and Back buttons were shifted forward on the mouse. Unless you have a very long thumb, this means that the Forward button will require some reaching to use. Their placement on the MX Revolution put both of them in easy reach.
- This mouse's discharge/charge cycle has been inconsistent with the included cord. I instead resorted to replacing the batteries with ones freshly charged in a high-end charger (from LaCrosse) every few weeks. If I didn't, the batteries would stop holding their charge for very long.
- Same button switch as the MX Revolution = same reliability problems. After a bit over 2 years of ownership, the Performance Mouse MX started double-clicking with single clicks of the left (i.e. most-frequently used) button. Thankfully, while Logitech reliability isn't stellar (I've had MANY Logitech devices fail while still under warranty), their customer service is excellent.
Some people decry the loss of the side rocker wheel, but personally, I never found it to be a useful feature on the MX Revolution. Regardless, that wheel served as three buttons (rock forward, back, or press), which have been replaced by the single thumb button that I really like. If you want lots of buttons to assign functions to, the Performance MX has two fewer assignable buttons than the mouse it replaces, which might be annoying.
I got used to this mouse after awhile, but at its price, if I had paid for it, I would return it for something else. Fortunately or unfortunately, Logitech's reliability isn't what it used to be, so my MX Revolution failed just before its warranty expired (the latest in a long string of Logitech devices that have failed right around their warranty expiration for my family), and Logitech's wonderful customer service replaced it with a new Performance MX. I've always found Logitech's customer support to be absolutely top notch (which is why I keep buying Logitech hardware even though it keeps failing), but in this case, their warranty replacement turned out to be a significant downgrade that would not be worth the price this mouse sells for.
Still, this isn't a bad mouse. Whereas I'd give the MX Revolution 4.5-5 stars, I give this one a solid 3 stars. For the price and features, though, 3 stars aren't enough to make this mouse a good deal. There are sure to be better mice than this available at this premium price point from other companies.

Wow!!!

Date:September 20, 2012
Have had this mouse for just a couple of days now...I paired it with the Logitech K800 keyboard and so far all has been fantastic! I found this mouse to be more comfortable in the hand than the trackball I was considering. I really enjoy logitech's products and so far they have proven to be reliable. I deducted a star for various small issues such as the scrolling wheel feeling wobbly or somewhat unstable when using and for the fact that it should offer side to side scrolling for a mouse in this price range. Overall, quite satisfied...thanks Logitech!!

great for a couple months of use

Date:September 10, 2012
I got the MX Revolution and loved it. But suddenly one day it just stopped responding. After much troubleshooting with a tech it was decided that it was just dead. Logitech replaced it with the Performance MX. It's been a little over a year since then. I used to love it, but now the left click is failing and I cant drag at all. The lower thumb button is also no good... its dropped a bit lower and there is really no where to push it at this point. Less then 2 years and Ive had to replace 2 supposedly high quality mice from Logitech. I'm now in need of yet another mouse, another Performance MX? the Logitech G700? or another brand all together? I really did not expect such low quality equipment from a name like Logitech

My Favorite Mouse

Date:September 8, 2012
From the beginning, the feel was comfortable, the scroll the smoothest I've used, and the click the quietest! It took me a little bit to get used to all the additional button features, but now I hate being without them. I love being able to charge while I'm working, and after about a year, I have not had the first bit of trouble. If I could afford to, I'd have this mouse at every computer at home and work.

Main Buttons Garbage

This could have been the best non-gaming (business) mouse ever.
Best Points: weight, shape, design, charging method, feel, movement and control
Worst Points: left and right mouse buttons are the most important parts to consider besides the movement and control. These "buttons" are cheap. They rattle, provide little 'feel' feedback, only noise. A single click should make ONE SOUND not a few distinctive ones. A single click should provide a SINGLE CLICK FEEL as feedback- not, for lack of one perfect word, cheapness and noise.
This is an expensive mouse. The laser may be worth it but I nether 'feel' or 'touch' that. This should be a 'solid' product and it's not- at all.
The pic shows 2 floating pieces of thin, cheap plastic- should not be the main part of an importing computing tool.

Great except for the left click...

Date:August 31, 2012
Not a whole lot else to say... It's a great mouse. I love the shape, size, and weight of it. I love the wirelessness and responsiveness. I love the battery indicator and the battery life isn't bad. I love the cord charging instead of having to put it in a stand. I love the fast scrolling switch. There are annoying parts like how the foot pads wear out relatively quickly and leave behind particles on my mouse pad, and how the position of the zoom and application selection buttons are a bit awkward, but I got used to them being there so I rarely hit them on accident anymore...
Sadly, as great as this mouse is (for the most part), I find myself having to get it replaced every year or so because the left mouse button wears out so quickly. I really wish that Logitech would correct this in their manufacturing process. They surely must be losing money with how many of these they have to replace all the time. Hopefully they will get around to making these without this flaw within the next few months or come out with a new version that doesn't have this problem at all.

The MX Revolution it ain't!

Date:August 8, 2012
I purchased this mouse originally because my MX Revolution started randomly double clicking with the left click button, after over 4 years of impeccable service, and I couldn't find a new MX Revolution to replace it with. I loved the thumb scroll wheel on the MX Revolution, which I set for volume, and being able to set it in it's stand after use and keep the battery charged made the $100.00 price tag worth every penny. On the Performance MX on the other hand, you have to fiddle around with a cord and a little bitty socket to recharge the batteries which is annoying and difficult as the plug goes in at a slightly downward angle and the connector is very small. Overall the MX Revolution is to date the best mouse I have ever used. Enter the Performance MX! Now I have to contend with accidentally clicking on the third upper thumb button instead of back paging which just increases the volume. Very annoying. It does however track very well due to the darkfield laser and the ergonomics are pretty good as well. The skid pads on the bottom seem to be wearing out rather quickly, considering I have only had it for about 6 months or so, and will soon need replacing. The pads on the old MX Revolution are still fine however after more than 4 years of use on the same surface. If Logitech were to combine the darkfield laser with the Thumb scroll wheel instead of the 2 additional buttons, and give the mouse it's wonderful charging stand back, I believe they would have a winner. As it is, the Performance MX is at best a distant second to the MX Revolution, which is unfortunately no longer being produced.

Beutiful Garbage

Date:August 7, 2012
I loved this mouse when I got it... for about a month. Then the plastic lense over the laser fell out. And then the click wheel sticks. Then the click wheel is stuck in click only mode. Then the laser stops tracking correctly. Now it only works on black surfaces, no ther color. And even then, the tracking is still useless for gaming. It's only useable for surfing the web. Had just over a year and a half. But was garbage in about 9 months.

Low quality experience

Everything perfect except quality, and it's not the first Logitech product that breaks down under a year of service.
For this price I'd expect products that last for at least 2 years, but my last mouse had to be replaced after 6 months.

Great mouse, Ghost in the House?

Date:July 30, 2012
I really enjoy using this mouse. Love that it can be wireless or wired when the previous model needed to be put on a charging dock; thus no down time. My only major problem with this mouse is that the left button is ghosting every now and then. Quite irritating when your trying to edit photos that require a lot of clicking or when playing games.

Design 5, Quality 1

Date:July 22, 2012
I have 3 Logitech mouses (MX Revolution, Performance Mouse MX, VX Revolution) that started double clicking on single click after a few months. Too expensive for double click problem.
The design is excellent, but quality is not.
This is for sure I will not buy another Logitech ever again.

Looks Great, Feels Grea...eh, not so much

Date:July 13, 2012
I've have a Cordless MouseMan Optical that I've used for ten years and recently decided to replace it. This looked to be the highest quality cordless mouse I could find and I was excited to get it. I liked almost everything about this mouse...except using it.
Pros:
* Well packaged and easy to open
* Looks nice and feels solid
* Cordless and rechargeable
* Great performance/responsiveness
* Handy storage bag for holding recharging cords
Cons:
* Mouse button plane is sloped sideways but mouse wheel is still perpendicular to mousing surface, requiring unnatural finger motion to push or scroll mouse wheel
* Not comfortable. Medium size, man's hand and feels like hand is hanging off the side because there's no comfortable way to rest the ring finger
* Battery doesn't last long (maybe 20 hrs of use)
* Hand and wrist hurt after using for a while

So very comfortable

Date:July 4, 2012
Like the title says, this mouse is comfortable, almost the perfect size for my hand. It's big, but not in a bulky or heavy way. The only complaint I have is I wish the thumb buttons were a little more accessible, maybe under the zoom button instead of over them, as I find myself hitting the zoom key more often than a thumb button. I think doing that would make this mouse perfect as it would place those two buttons in spot that requires the least amount of thumb movement, as well as eliminate the zoom issue I mentioned.

COOL, COMFORTABLE and POWERFUL!!!

Date:July 3, 2012
-COOL... just look at it.
-COMFORTABLE... The size of the Mouse and Receiver are JUST PERFECT!!! I got use to it in a matter of few hours and it feels REALLY COMFORTABLE, this is the first time I bought a mouse with this ergonomic shape. I don't use the Zoom function neither the scroll sideways. But the Navigation Function, the Switch between Windows Function, the Two Scroll Speed and The Software are REALLY EASY to use, making this mouse a VERY PRACTICAL MOUSE.
-POWERFUL... I am pretty sure that this mouse performs better in gaming than my Razer Black Mamba wireless gaming mouse. This Mouse is PRECISE and FAST!!!
On the Down side, still no stickers from Logitech :(
WONDERFUL MOUSE, VERY LOGITECH!!! :)
