Squeezebox™ Radio ROCKS!

It connected to my WiFi in no time at all. The sound quality for the size of the radio is excellent. I’m using it in Algeria and very happy with the stations from the USA I can receive.

Excellent desktop radio

I have all of the Squeezebox family, but this fits the bill for my desktop.Small, compact, and interacts with all the other Squeezebox radios. Setup took less than 10 minutes, and I can listen with headphones and not disturb anyone else. Squeezebox Boom is still better sound, but this is much smaller and has the added color display.

Excellent Idea if it would work.

I got this thing home and spent all night setting it up. Apparently the newest version of the Squeezebox server does not run at all as I found out. I spent about an hour with their tech support and did get it set up and running..............for about 10 minutes. There are numerous complaints online about this issue and I took someones advice and rolled back the version of the squeezebox server which has to run on your computer. Everything was fine for about 2 days until my presets just dropped out. Had to reset those again and it ran fine for another couple of days, until the presets dropped out again. When this thing is running as advertised it is fantastic but the unit is completely unpredictable and you have to cross your fingers and hope it will run. I am planning on bringing this back and wait until they get their act together before I drop another $180.00 on a bathroom radio.

WOW! is not enough to say about this unit . . .

I was looking to get rid of my satellite radio in the office and ran across this unit on-line while researching wi-fi radios. I wanted w-ifi + ethernet due to the x-ray environment we are in. I purchased another brand of Wi-fi Radio based upon the local resellers recomendations. It had a very good sound but the wi-fi was very weak and no ethernet connection. Within 30 feet of my router I could not maintain better then 40% signal and anything less then 45% the stations would drop in and out.
With my Squeezebox I can move it through out all 4000 sq ft and maintain 75% or better signal.
Quick and easy setup - less then 10 minutes and we were listening to music.
The feature that I like most is the "Remote Control" through the web interface. I don't have to be in fornt of it to control it. I can do that from any web browser.
Awsome Unit I am in the process of getting another one of these units for the house.
I would HIGHLY recommend this unit to anyone looking to purchase a Wi-fi Radio!!

Miraculous product - best value

Bought this last month so that I could meet my wonderful wife's desire to have access to music in the kitchen & on the patio.
Set-up was exceedingly straightforward - seemed intuitive (I am a senior citizen who my son would say is most emphatically not a 'techie') - and we were working within 20 minutes of opening the packaging!!
[Do make sure you have the password to your home WiFi]
Sound quality seems great to us (albeit we are not audiophiles)
The ability to access both CDs ripped to our computer (we use FLAC format to store the music files) as well as a seemingly inexhaustable supply of radio stations just blows my mind.
This is a 'must have' product - I would like to say 'thank you Logitech' for a job well done!

Very sophisticated product

Received the Squeezbox as an Xmas present. Used it initially to listen to Internet radio. Then downloaded the server software to one of my laptops to connect my iTunes library to the device. It connects beautifully and the connection to my home network (802.11n) was easy.
This product is very sophisticated and well engineered. Sound is excellent. The "favorites" allows you to add a larger list then the 6 pre set buttons. I had been looking for something like this for a year. Yamaha had something similar for > $1100!!. Well done Logitech.

Great Product!

After a failed attempt to register using the radio itself I called SqueezeBox tech support. I was told that since the radio has a limit of 16 characters on password signup I had to create a new password accordingly. Also, I have an AirPort Extreme with latest WAP security. SqueezeBox tech support told me to use the less secure WEP security which Apple tech support helped me reconfigure. I don't like downgrading and would hope LogiTech will send a firmware update to enable a WAP security upgrade soon. Other than that, the radio has lived up to my expectations so far. Once set up it's easy to operate. Great sound for a unit so sleek and small. With update I would give the product 5 stars!

One Word - Amazing!

As a multiple Sirius subscriber I was disappointed when I purchased my Sirius Internet Radio as my favorite channel, #118 was not included in the lineup. After searching for a radio that could bring me "Nostalgia Radio" 24/7 and other hard to hear starions, I discovered Squeezebox at my local Best Buy store. Not only can I now receive all of the "Nostalgia" stations throughout the world, local and out of reach stations, but the sound is great and setup is not as difficult as I was led to believe.
All I can say is this piece of audio equipment is amazing and I highly recommend it to any Audiophiles out there!

The Quick Start Guide is abysmal. You have to experiment with the settings to get internet stations that are not selected by the radio. If you want the "standard stuff" it is plug and play.

Finally My Internet Radio Is Easy

Picked up the Squeezebox Radio up a couple of weeks ago and am really enjoying it. If there is one thing I would have liked, in hind sight, it would have been a larger LCD display. Perhaps I'll now have to pop for a Squeezebox Touch too. When I'm listening to Pandora Radio, and building my playlist, I have to get right up to it to see who the artist is. It would have also been nice to get the battery and remote in the package. Otherwise, it has raised my quality of life quite a few notches.

I bought this with the primary idea of tuning in to Pandora without my computer. I found that the list of online radio stations expands that idea to the ninth degree. The dial selector setup is a little clunky, but not to bad once you get the hang of it. The only thing I found annoying was the lack of a Speaker Jack off the back. With the availability of good quality speaker sets (such as those from Logitech) there should be a speaker jack in the back. The headphone jack on the side works, but can get in the way if you want your speakers in close proximity for cramped quarters placement.

If you want this as an alarm, think again....

I am on my second Squeezebox. Logitech sent me a new one after months of trial and error getting the alarm to work correctly.
I live in the country and get no radio reception, and wanted to be able to wake up to NPR. I thought this was the golden ticket. No such luck. The alarm is SUPER BUGGY, sometimes working right, sometimes waking you up to blaring default techno beats that are nearly heart-attack inducing.
I was hoping that the new one would solve the problem, but it is not to be. Same problems.
Check the net for alarm issue discussions, they're everywhere. I wish I had.

Dumped Sirus for a better way

I love this little radio, And I love Pandora, So this radio fit the bill.
I listen to music out side in my garage and fireside. It came time to renue my sub with Sirus, and said NoWay, too much talk and not enough music,
This radio give's me sooooo, many more options and was fairly easy to set up. Im not real tech savy, but I had this radio up and running in minutes including setting up wifi for the first time.
Thanks Logitech for making my life a little better.

The best radio I've ever had. I'm still trying to figure out some things but I found the sleep function so thats a start. Still adding stations which will take quite some time because theres so many to chose from. I can't wait to master this radio. The sound quality is great, the size is perfect now I have to get the rechargable battery for it so I can bring into other rooms. Fantastic I loveit!

Best thing I've purchased in a long time

Well, I just got my squeezebox accessory pack and I can't think of anything else I could ask for. I already loved it and now I really love it. The battery is just icing on the cake and now I can take it outside when I'm grilling or when I'm out with the kids. My wife loves it too. So much so she's trying to take it. I listen to it in my office at night, but when I get home from work the next day it's gone. My wife is listening to it while she does stuff around the house.
The sound is incredible especially for having only one woofer and a tweeter. Setup was extremely easy also. The only problem I had was a setting on my router. I had it as shared instead of open.
I highly recommend this product. Great job Logitech.

The Best Radio Ever and more...

This is the best radio ever. It comes with a variety of options to listen to music and it even remotely connects to your computer so you can control your radio without actually having to touch it. The sound is excellent and without no distortion, even in high volume. I use it at home and at the office, all wireless. This practically makes a great gift for your loved ones and for yourself.

a great device

When my Sirius account became due, I decided to give this a try and havent looked back. This is an amazing machine which allows the user endless options when it comes to musical options. Getting set up was easy, the only cumbersome aspect was going through all the online free readio out there and establishing accounts. From there is was 'no bars held' on what I could listen . I had recently discovered Pandora and this allows me to listen to it while not using the computer - I konw that sounds silly but by doing this, the computer and connection are not affected.
I did a considerable amounr of research before purchasing and everything I read was great
Have had a great time with the squeezebox and keeping finding more and newer types of music/talk/etc out there

Best Overall Internet Radio on the Market!

Yes, there have been (and still are) a few bugs in how the radio operates, but the sound and capabilities are so superior that I am confident with future firmware upgrades, most of the issues where the radio locks up with be overcome. I listen to AM talk radio at night and it will spoil you if you listen to an AM talk radio stations anywhere in the world. The music stations are also amazingly clear. I have an 802.11n network at my home and I can use the radio at least 200 feet from the house in any direction. I can put the radio on my dock with the battery pack and fish while I listen to KFI in LA or acoutic guitar music in rural Ohio. I find this incredible. My only change would be more presets. It has six and that is not enough. I would keep the same six and make them catagories. Preset 1 could be talk radio (as an example) and then you could scan through your favorites and pick one in that catagory to listen to. I also use the Facebook and Rhapsody apps. There are currently almost 30 apps that can be installed. Great product.

I have always been impressed with Logitech products, and this is no exception. The Squeezebox radio is easy to set up and use, and actually offers more than I expected (chances are if your favorite 'traditional' radio station operates a stream, Squeezebox can access it), and the ability to add third party apps like Pandora, Slacker and last.fm is awesome.
