What great Sound

Date:January 22, 2010
I received my squeezebox radio and within 5 minutes was up and running. The set up was easy and I love the clarity and sound. I like listening to different radio stations around the world. This was a great buy, well worth the money.

About to oreder my 5th Squeezebox

Date:January 18, 2010
Why blast music from a central location when you can have a squeeze box in every room with the sound adjusted to the perfect level for listening pleasure.
Extremely well designed.
I had a little trouble with the remote (internet control); called tech support and had the best experience I ever had with any company...and I've been calling tech supports for 35 years!

Gave as gift I must have one too!

Date:December 31, 2009
Purchased this radio as gift for 80 year old mother in law.
I was concerned that this might be too complex for her. I was soo Wrong! The radio is really user friendly and easy to navigate. Yes 6 presents is the only negative I can find, but the variety of music and talk is unreal. Facebook and other apps make this much more than a radio. After setting this up, I realized that this is something that I must have too.

Amazing what comes out of such a little box!

Date:December 29, 2009
I bought this as a gift for my wife. Our vacation home is over 100 miles away and we have limited radio reception there. This will be the perfect solution for her to listen to our local radio stations as well as our collection on Rhapsody. Excellent sound and build quality. Love the color screen for album covers and radio station logos. The web site control over the radio is an easy interface to manage. Not the most straight forward set-up but I got through it. Wish there were more than 6 presets though, and that the forward and back buttons weren't so close to the large selector button. I find it a little awkward. Otherwise a GREAT product.

Stream Pandora to Outdoor Speakers

Date:December 27, 2009
Easy interface setup to WiFi secure network, just make sure to turn up the volume (to ensure higher output via headphone jack to RCA's & amplifier) this little baby streams music from the internet (Pandora) to my backyard speakers, truly the best uninterrupted audio stream available

Radio is terrific!

Date:December 26, 2009
I recently purchased a system from a competitor, and a large hard drive, and set about moving 1,000 CDs onto the hard drive in FLAC form. This worked great and gives me great music access on my living room stereo system (note though, I could have used the Logitech Duet for this). But as I began to really enjoy this approach, I realized that for a very little additional money I could pick up the Logitech Squeezebox Radio and access ALL of this in another, new spot in my house. So, next to my easy chair in the family room, I can use the headphone output of the radio to listen to my music.
The quality is terrific, the sound is as good as the headphones I choose to use, and the interface is much easier to use that I expected, even for for 1,000 CDs, and 10,000 tracks.
For a while I plugged in a set of large AR powered speakers, and this unit was really terrific, at a very low price.
Unlike one other reviewer, I find that I don't even use all the presets; it is easy to choose my Pandora stations and my Sirius stations without the presets, but six buttons give me substantial access. My S...s system, driving my home stereo, at much higher cost, doesn't have any presets (and tunes the same stations), so I am thrilled to have the six presets on the Logitech Radio.
The setup was a little more difficult than the S...s, especially setting up Apps, but it wasn't all that hard.
If you have a substantial music collection, already stored on your computer, or you just want a great way to access your internet sources (Pandora, Rhapsody, Sirius) this is a terrific way to do so at very low cost with a great result.

Awesome Player!!!

Date:December 24, 2009
The Squeezebox radio is a great internet radio device. I replaced my alarm clock and love it. The alarm feature slowly increases the volume to wake you gently. With the internet radio->Local app, I can still wake up to local FM stations. The sound quality is great too!
My only complaint is the lack of portability for use on the patio or at other people homes. When is the battery accessory coming out?

Love it!

Date:December 1, 2009
I absolutely love it. I love the retro feel of an old wireless. I like how I can remotely control it through the website. As an expat, I love having access to radio stations back home.
The connection drops occasionally, but not enough to cause a real concern. This is more for the kitchen, bedroom, or casual listening.
Love this device.

Great relacement for bedside or table top radio

Date:November 24, 2009
I have used the radio for about 4 weeks and my wife and I love it. It replaced the clock radio in our bedroom but when the battery unit becomes available we will use it around the house.
I recently returned a competitive product for the Squeezebox Radio and I am glad I did. The number of services available are many and using the Linux system for operation means upgrades and features will follow.
I had problem with the alarm clock and the support folks quickly acknowledged the issue and I expect and firmware fix to make the alarm more reliable.
The sound is great, setting easy to use (buttons are a little small). The dimming feature is great but it could use some adjustment. The connection is flawless and it quickly tunes between stations and my library which I have uploaded to one of the available services.

Crashing, Not Enough Presets

Date:November 21, 2009
The unit comes with 6 station preset buttons. SIX! There stations built into the catagory index are numbered in the hundreds, the best way to find anything is to search for it, but when you find something good, you only have 6 presets! That's forking crazy.
Also, all weekend long, sirius does something to their servers that cause the sqeezebox to crash all weekend long. You get about 15 minutes of sirius, then the entire radio reboots, it takes 2 -5 minutes to reboot. If you put it back on sirius again, it will reboot again, over and over. ALL WEEKEND LONG! Update the consarned sirius app!
I still can't find this battery they keep talking about, its a mystery accessory klt!
If you could save the stations and sirius didn't crash all weekend it would be a great radio, but otherwise keep shopping.

Retro Tech Done Right

Date:October 30, 2009
Retro Tech -- First off, for some reason the Squeezebox Radio reminds me of a retro Bakelite radio from say the 50's. Not because it sounds bad or anything, but the overall design; with that being a very good thing IMO. In hand it just feels right.
Screen -- The color screen is very pretty and easy on the eyes. With the menu's easy to navigate by push-button dial. Sometimes I do wish the screen was a tad big larger / higher res, but that is just being picky!
Sound/Handle/Wifi -- Sound is very good for a single speaker design. This little guy can pump out the music. The built in handle and wifi makes sure of its portableness. Once they release the rechargeable battery pack (hope with a long run-time) I can see it getting toted around doing tasks in and around the house (all wirelessly streaming my music). Works flawlessly over wire or wireless so far.
Evolution -- Being a owner of a very gen 1 SliMP3 model player (still playing to this day -- daughter listens to her music everyday on it) from the "early days" of Slim Devices and Sean and Dean building them, this is a great evolution of the product line. Thanks to their original vision and Logitech to get it to the masses and providing the backing of such great ideas. I am glad to see Slim Devices did not go to Logitech to die! Thank you to both sides.
Update -- It was great to see how easily the radio updated its own firmware after I said sure when first starting it up for the first time. Just like Squeezebox Server (latest name change <BG>) always has new releases all the time, a device like this can grow and expand via its firmware. Nice to see it just does it for you. Worked like a charm.
Apps -- This will be interesting to see how it continues to grow. Love that I have my Pandora account all there with very minor configuration in Squeezebox Server. Streaming is quick and responsive. I wish there was a thumbs up and down on the radio and not have to use the web server web interface to rate the songs.
Overall, it's just a plain likable device that does its main feature (play music) really well. You pick your source and just enjoy!
