Only reason i gave it 4 on ease of use was becaue of the setup. I had no problems, but someone who is not very techie may have some difficulties with the whole account setup...software download ... setup steps.
I love this remote though. Its the only one that we found that would work correctly with our Vizio soundbar (the one that comes with it is a cheap little junky one that doesnt have very good signal)
I have also set it up and been using it with my wifes laptop for playing movies...media center etc. works great.
i love the one touch switch from one activity to another. no more turning one thing off and another on and finding the tv remote to change the input. once its set up its just awesome.

Review 2 for Harmony® 700 Advanced Universal Remote
I have a number of components, some new, some old school (such as vcr). There was no way with my other remotes (including universal) that I could had any one of 5 controls that would cotrol all 5 devices flawlessly. It took at least any 2-3 remotes to do all features required to do any task. Some would not provide all menu features for digital set top box, for example. The one remote that would, could not handle the AV receiver menus.
My wife, not being a technical geek had major problems trying to figure out which one to use to get the results she requred.
I thought the programming of the Logitech Harmony 700 was great - as long as you have all the correct model numbers for your equipment it programmed very easily. The on screen computer interface to set up the unit was good, to change existing info was a little awkward to figure out at first, but didnt take too long to get it done.
Once all components were programmed in, the unit work perfectly on all devices with a one touch button to activate the required device. (every function of the original remote was available on the Harmony 700).
I like the way you can power on required devices only, and shut off power to all at once if desired.
Also, if you do happen to get a problem and somehow your equipment gets out of sync, pick the help button and an intuitive instruction list gets things working easily just by following the prompts with easy answers.
I have already recommended this unit to several of my friends that have remote problems.
To sum it up, It's a great unit.

Sleep Timer on a 650
As many consumers have expressed that their Harmony Remote Control cannot activate the Sleep Timer function of A/V devices, I did find out a way to do it and decided to share it. Is not easy at all but worth doing it to have this and other functions in your Harmony RC. Unlike the Universal Remote Controls from the nineties, the Harmony does not have a dedicated Sleep Timer button. As well, most audio/video components nowadays including the new flat screens TVs do have the sleep timer function but dependent on pressing an ordered sequence of keys. In my case, the Yamaha Receiver does have a dedicated Sleep Timer button but the Samsung TV does not.
The Harmony needs to be programmed trough a computer. Initially I programmed the Harmony 650 the easy way, by including the brand and model of each of the five components. With this configuration, the basic functions worked but was unable to access specialized functions such as the 3-D conversion, format selection, components on-screen menus and the sleep timer. Thus, after performing the necessary reset for the RC, (remove batteries and press “all off” for a few seconds), I then proceeded to program the Harmony with commands from the individual remote controls.
Using the Harmony Software version 7.7.0, went into the “learn from other remotes function” and for the Receiver it was just pressing the Sleep Timer Button. The Harmony immediately received the command. Now for the Samsung TV, I did have to follow the full sequence of pressing multiple keys and accessing the sleep timer function. The Harmony did learn the complete sequence. Once you perform this with all functions that you want the RC to learn, need to save them with the software and wait until the RC Reboots. After rebooting, a chart will open on the computer screen and you will check all the new functions for the proper key. Now it is OK to disconnect the RC from the USB cable and test it, Worth mentioning that have not been able to assign the colored keys to any customized functions, yet.
The way to access the Sleep Timer in the Harmony 650 is using the seven keys in the periphery of the display and the sequence is: Devices / TV / Right Key until the eight screen and in the Upper Right quadrant you have the Sleep Timer functions. In my case, on Screen seven I have the Smart Hub and on Screen Five, the 3-D tools. For the Yamaha Receiver, the Sleep Functions show up on screen 13. Be aware that your configuration may vary as I did include all functions in my Harmony RC. Hope this helps and will be worth seeing if other users find alternate ways of accomplishing this as well as how would other Harmony Remotes handle the Sleep Timer function. Photo of my RC with the Sleep Timer function included. Good luck!

I recently purchased a Logitech 700 Harmony remote to replace the 688 that died. I LOVE these remotes. I bought the 700 without hesitation because the 688 was so good and so easy to use. Once you use one of these remotes you will NEVER want to go back to that mountain of remotes that you have to deal with now. If you don't have a Harmony remote, you should! I can't recommend these enough! Worth every penny!

Started with a 650, worked 50% of the time. Got a 700 replacement, works 50% of the time. Got another 700 replacement, works 75% of the time, better. AND....got another 700 replacement, the number buttons do not work at all. Customer service has been awesome! And I love Logitech products, but these remotes are just junk!

My Harmony ONE remote broke from falling off the couch the other day. It lasted less than 6 months in my house. I've had a Harmony 700 series remote for a few years now and you can throw it at your kids and keeps working.
Not to mention, the entire remote contours to your hand. No need to re-arrange to touch buttons on the touch screen. Plus, this remote just feels faster, more responsive. The 700 is best remote you can buy!

I just bought one of these after reading good reviews. Charged it out of the box, setup was a snap. Too good to be true!! Sadly, my unit does not appear to be holding it's memory, i.e. in the morning it won't turn on the television, sometimes it doesn't turn to the right input, etc etc. Drives my wife mad. She'd rather go back to three separate remotes. I have programmed, reprogrammed, recharged, you name it. Hopefully Logitech works with me on either figuring this out or replacing it. I cannot recommend this product with my current experience, but that may change.

I received the Harmony 700 as a Christmas gift in 2010. I think the setup directions were easy to follow. I just did exactly what it sad to do. I've been using it for over a year and still don't have any problems.
The only downside for me is it won't turn on my Wii. Just thought of another -- it's not user friendly for my 5 year old grandson, but he has learned to use it.

I Bought this remote honestly not expecting a whole lot. But my oh my. I read the other reviews and they are not fairly accurate. This device is very very easy to setup. You plug the remote into a computer via USB cable, download the software. And Logitech does the rest!
All the user has to di is write down the make and model of the electronics you want to control. And Logitech guesses which electronic you typed in and does the rest. The only semi-technical thing is it asks you what input into the TV does the device use.. HDMI, AV, VGA, so forth.
After that it asks you very simply what items do you use to watch tv, play video games, watch a movie and it assigns the hot buttons for you.
It is the easiest piece of electronic I have setup in years, And I work in a IT Help Desk..
Thank you Logitech!

I found this remote easy to set up and program to my liking. Logitech has done a good job of making their remotes easy and useful. I would suggest that the numerical button could be located near the center and the less used buttons at the bottom. This is a matter of ergonomics, having to slide done to the bottom puts the remote out of balance. This seems to be true with most newer remotes.

This is the best thing ever!! As inept as I am at these things, this product works exactly as advertised!! I downloaded the program, entered devices I have and viola! it all works great!! Now instead of 4 remotes, just 1 doing it all perfectly. The 700 even programmed for the LG 2d to 3d imagery. This delightful contraption can be customized many ways to suit you. I cannot say enough for Harmony!!! Thank you!! P.S. I delayed trying to set this piece up for several months! LOL I was afraid I would screw it up and have to make a dozen phone calls to get it straightened out. I spent WAYYYYYY to much time messing with 4 remotes!

This remote is awesome! It literally sets up the different modes of entertainment for me. If I want to watch TV, it turns on my Comcast cable box, my TV, and my home entertainment stereo w/ surround sound... ALL WITH ONE CLICK OF A BUTTON! Unbelievable. Same goes for if I want to watch a Blu Ray. It will turn on my Sony Blu Ray player, turn off my cable box (if it is on), and turns on my home entertainment surround sound stereo (if it was off)... ALL WITH ONE CLICK OF A BUTTON! LOVE IT!!!

Great product. Remote works great with all my equipment in the home theater. The only problem I had was when charging the batteries a child hit the cord and caused the remote to fall off a coffee table. When the cords plug hit the ground it caused the plug inside the remote to break off. Of course this happens right after the warranty expires. The remote still works as it should but the remote can no longer be charged or reprogramming. The remote works great with AA batteries and it lasts a lot longer on the AA's. The AA batteries last almost two months while if you use the rechargable battary you have to charge it once a week. I just got a new piece of equipment and purchased the same remote as a replacement. This time I will be using AA batteries from the beginning and wont have this problem again.

All the features and functions of this remote are wonderful, it is great for watching tv. I wish LG posted a link to download and install the icons for favorite channels, but those can be found online and loaded into the remote by any semi-savvy user in about 30 minutes.
This remote does not send a good quality signal to my LG blue ray player. It works fine with my Insignia TV and Motorola cable box, but it does not do well with my blue ray at all. Sadly, I sit on the couch directly in front of the blue ray about 6 feet or from it.
About 1 time in 3 the remote is not successful in telling the blue ray to change inputs. The onscreen help menu is easy to follow and straight forward, but takes too long to go through all the steps.

Comes out of the box with a rattle...You cannot reorder activities or devices within activities which is a huge downside and very easy to accomplish. Also, on the pages where their software does let you reorganize the order of the soft keys for the screen at the top, it will not process the order you have filled in. For example, I said that I wanted the input for a device to be on a certain page - it is within the software, but shows up 4 pages later within the remote itself. Found other examples of the same issue online with their tech support basically saying that they do not care.
I had already recommended the Harmony series of remotes to several of my non-technology impaired friends and have regretted since learning of these simply fixed fallacies that are not being addressed. Don't tell us we can customize something and then ignore some of our settings - that is absurd.

Bought this remote (Harmony 700) to replace a Harmony 670 that I've had for years. The 670 worked fine but we could barely read the screen after everyday abuse until we spilled some wine on it to do it in for good. The 700 is a slight upgrade. The transfer of my existing account settings went flawlessly. I was using this remote within an hour of unpacking and putting the batteries in it. I like the recharge option on the batteries. I also like the fact that it lights up automatically when you pick it up. Some of the control buttons are slightly different, but I'm okay with that...just a slight learning curve. I only gave a four star on ergonomics because it is so thin on one end and thick at the battery end. Again it is different from the 670, so it might be a case of me not being used to it! (Not to mention that it might not slip out of the hand so easy like the 670!). I did not have to use customer service this time as, again, the set up was very easy. I needed their help with the original 670, and they were very helpful. Overall, I am very satisfied with Logitech. Oh, by the way, my 670 came back to life after a couple of days of drying out!!!!

Great: Will replace any remote.. Good: ..provided you still have the original ones (no database is perfect or complete) Could be improved by: 1) letting the user rearrange devices and activities 2) add a print option (list of all button bindings for all devices and screen overviews) 3) ability to save configuration locally and change&load your settings off-line 4) add a "null-device" to the device list (automatically activated when you are in the root device screen) 5) provide a pool of all the commands of all devices which can be programmed to the buttons and screens of this virtual "null-device"
