I have a friend who is disabled and we communicate a lot via webcam instead of having to use a keyboard. I am currently recommending the brand name to him as he was interested in upgrading from his current one. He owns a Mac.

A very good portable/travel webcam. I purchased this primarily for on the road field service work and communications while traveling, however, I do use it in the home/office/lab. I also have a C910 for the desktop workstation (which my wife has taken over :-)).
The positives - Excellent optics and image quality. Size and weight is small enough not to be a burden when traveling. The mounting mechanism is strong and secure for laptops/netbooks. The included case is a big plus.
The negatives - 1. The webcam overlaps a portion of the laptop/netbook screen. Although this is minimal, I would have preferred it to not overlap at all. A redesign of the mounting mechanism would correct this. 2. The included stand is great to have, however, it would have been nicer if the height was somewhat adjustable. The base is ok with it being weighted, but the plastic pin used for attaching the stand is something to be cautious about because it can scratch and dig into things if it is in your laptop/netbook case.
All in all - This is the perfect webcam for traveling. Excellent quality and function. It doesn't take up much space at all, and is a pleasure to carry. It is designed for portable use; if you want to use it primarily for your desktop, choose another one as the cord is short for desktop use.
I would recommend this as one of the best webcams for travel.

I bought the c905 before I studied abroad, and was sorely disappointed when it wouldn't work. I installed the software properly (and have since uninstalled and reinstalled several times) but am still having the same issues. The camera works (and looks/sounds great) for about 5 minutes, then freezes on one frame and my entire computer freezes. After that, my computer doesn't recognize my webcam, even when I plug it into a different USB drive and/or restart my computer. This has never happened with any other webcam and only happens with the c905 on skype (I don't use it with any other software).
I can't find any drivers online to solve this problem and I REALLY regret spending the money on this thing. It's definitely not worth the trouble!

Some problems are that if you put it on the stand you need to start getting used not knocking it over. The camera is great, but sometimes even with good quality its a little pixled. The microphone is what I dislike the most. It is too sensitive so you need to make it face away from you or make it really far. It literary can hear a pin drop. So far all my attempts to fix the microphone have failed. Its hard to understand at first as well. Now that I have said the bad things here are the good. It looks pretty epic from anyones stand point. It has a lot of functions once you learn how to use it. The camera has many resolutions. You can take pictures by clicking the top of the camera instead of only being able to do that with the computer. Web chats are not laggy at all. If I could I would give it a 4.5, but I can't so I will stick with 4.

I bought this webcam after reviewing a dozen or so webcams online. Setup was fast and without problems. The image is clear, the Zeiss lens is worth the price. I don't use the included special effects often, but they are a hoot when I do. I'd never done a videochat online, but getting a session going took almost no effort on my part. I'd definitely recommend the C905 to anyone looking for a good quality webcam and software package at a good price.

Purchased this camera when I was out of town, and wanted to keep in contact with family. First thing I noticed was how short the cord is. I had to buy an extra usb cable to connect it to the desktop I was using. The stand that came with it is not very sturdy, and would constantly move or fall over. The auto-focus doesn't work correctly either, as my picture kept getting blurry. Picture quality is great, when the camera focuses correctly. Sound is good too. For the price of this webcam, I am not impressed, and definitely would not buy one again.....

Wow! isn't enough to describe this webcam. I'm writing this after 18 months of using this laptop Logitech camera. This cam never disappointed me. Image quality is superior to any other webcam. I use it to chat with my wife who's living abroad via Google Chat & Voice, and Yahoo Messenger, and MSN Live Messenger. In any case, this cam provided sharp image qaulity, and has this smart little feature that will allow the lense to follow you if you move within several inches from the cam. Very neat. The cam fits right on the top edge of my Dell laptop monitor, snuggly. I compared it to my Apple MacBook iSight camera. The Isight built in camera doesn't even come close to the image quality provided by this great little laptop $99 camera. Was it worth the money spent! heck ya!
I just hope that Logitech can do more software upgrades to visual effects that come built in the software side of this great cam.
Thank you Logitech, keep up the good job.

I'm going to openly admit my bias toward Logitech. I've been a loyal customer and supporter since their beginning. But it's not without justification: They make great stuff. Period.
And this camera is no exception. Among the high points are its image quality, and its ability to "see in the dark" (My home office is quite dark, the way I like it, with only a desk work lamp lighting my immediate work area.)
I communicate with friends as far away as Sweden (I'm in Wisconsin, USA) using Yahoo's excellent (and FREE) Yahoo Messenger. It's a lot more fun communicating live with a camera than just voice.
My primary computer is a laptop. I bought the external camera because a laptop's lid must be open in order to use its built-in camera. An external camera is SUPERIOR in so many ways, not the least of which is that its completely positionable / moveable. The QuickCam can attach to a monitor (or other stationary object) but it also comes with a very nice looking STAND. A nicely made nylon carrying case is also supplied.
I also like the LOOK AND FEEL of Logitech products - think "Lexus".
Logitech ROCKS!

This is the best idea that I have ever had , buying the web cam C905, the quality of the video that it is showing is amazing. My reason to but a top quality unit is to see my brother in LONDON. 6,000 miles is along way to go for a visit, now we can see each other in just a call. I have spent over $110.00 on the telephone bills just on any given holiday just to talk , and that is about 3 - 4 times a year. Now for less than a $100.00 BILL we can see him and the whole family can talk for free. I'm paying for the Internet, why not use it.
