Harmony 650, GREAT!!

Date:September 29, 2011
We've got a fairly simple system, and the 650 works perfectly for it! Set up was a breeze, took about 5 minutes, and it's worked flawlessly. No complaints to speak of. I could make some suggestions, but Logitech seems to have incorporated all of my suggestions into the Harmony One. Great job Logitech!

One for 5 remotes!!!

Date:June 17, 2013
I love the idea that the Harmony 650 replaced my five remotes, it was a good addition to my home entertainment set up. However there are few details that made this remote flawed. It took me at least five times setting up the activities for my the H 650 to finally work properly and the durability is questionable, I have not dropped it but there is a sound of loose parts coming from inside, it did not have the sound before when I bought it but after almost a month of use, the rattling sound started.

It is great!

Date:June 16, 2013
:A Vizio 60-inch LED tv, a Vizio 3d blu-ray dvd, a Time-Warner cable dvr by Cisco, a Pioneer VSX-822 a/v receiver and a Sony Play Station 3 with the Harmony PS3 adapter.
I love it! It was easy to setup and to use and I had no problems doing either. Everything works perfectly. I particularly like the "Help" button, if something doesn't turn off or on, you just press it and it automatically turns that piece of equipment off or on. My one mistake is I brought the 650 because I was being frugal, trying to save money. The 650 only controls five devices, when I really need a remote that cannot control at least seven or eight. However, I am very satisfied and happy with the Harmony 650.

Replaced 4 remotes!

Date:May 27, 2013
I have a dual tv setup in my room so I can watch a movie and user the other screen for computer, ps3, wiiU, and Xbox 360. I have it setup with GoogleTv and also my cable box. All of this running through a surround sound system. I went from using 4 remotes all into one. Using the intuitive activities I can easily 1 button to watch TV on either of the screens, control the volume through my surround sound. I can also use this to turn off all devices. I also have shortcuts setup for my favorites channels and inputs so I can quickly and seamlessly switch between systems and even have it change my surround sound input. I am going to be replacing the remotes in all of my other rooms with this one. What a great remote.

A friend of mine suggested that I consider purchasing a Logitech Universal Remote. He convinced me so I ordered the Harmony 650 on a Tuesday and received it on a Saturday afternoon. I set it up on Saturday evening. It couldn't have been easier. Really!! I ordered another one on Sunday morning. It's a snap! End of story.

Quality Decline, Trouble w/ Microsoft XBOX 360

Date:May 19, 2013
:XBOX 360
I purchased another Harmony since the 550 has served my family well. However, I'm disappointed in the 650 relatively speaking. The quality of the product itself seems lower/cheaper. The big issue I encountered was the difficulty the 650 appeared to have with the Microsoft XBOX 360. Specifically, the remote would not consistently turn on the 360 as well as execute other commands. As a result, I use the 550 for my office home theater w/ the 360 and pushed the 650 to my living room with lesser devices (no XBOX). Yes, I tried the Help on the remote and patiently worked with the Logitech Harmony Remote Software version 7.7.0.

I wanted to really love this remote (as I do my other Logitech products). I would love for Logitech to implement a time link of when devices are activated (such as how many seconds after TV is turned on it should activate input/channel switching). or even recognize when a device is already on. While I have the ability to navigate within these issues, no one else in my house can. Seems as if we end up pressing the help button more than any other function/button. Almost makes reason I have this remote useless even though I have activities programmed for everyone to use easily. I would also love if remote could also replace my Media Center remote (which is generic) so I can operate my HTPC. I also think there should be an update for the remote to fully utilize transparent images (GIF/PNG) for favorite channels.

If you like to read screens and constantly press buttons that the remote requires before you can use it then its for you. I personally don't like 100 actions of help and did you know before using a remote...

I own a 659, 600, and 650 series remote. They have always worked as advertised. I cannot imagine any of my setups without them. For those who are having issues, read the instructions. My 659 is eight years old and can still control 7 tv's, 8 dvd players, ps2 & ps3, and 3 different blu ray devices in that time period. Trust me, it doesn't get any simpler!

DO NOT BUY THIS REMOTE

Date:March 31, 2013
A ton of great features. Too bad they don't work. I have had the remote for three months and it has never worked properly. I have spent countless hours on my own and on the phone with tech support trying to get it to work properly.

I bought this because I was tired of all the remotes I had to use and it has gone beyond everything I expected. It's easy to program and easy to use and works flawlessly. I became even more impressed with it after switching from a Comcast DVR over to a TiVo. I was worried that with all the specialized buttons on the TiVo that the remote wouldn't have all the needed functionality. Boy was I wrong. It does everything I need and then some.
For the price, there is no equal in the universal remote world!

Product Does Not Work As Advertised

Date:March 13, 2013
Maybe this product will work properly on some systems, but it will not play nicely with mine. I find this to be odd, since I only have it hooked up to a television, receiver, blu-ray player and cd player, all of which are manufactured by major electronics companies. This remote randomly switches inputs on my receiver, and is unpredictable as to whether it turns the proper devices on or off. For the price I paid, I would expect the activities feature of the remote to work as advertised. Otherwise, why wouldn't I just buy an inexpensive universal remote to manually control my devices? Online troubleshooting failed to result in any improvement in operation. This remote is going back to the store for a full refund.

Almost Good

Date:February 27, 2013
The remote does what it is designed to do but has a couple features I find annoying. 1) The bottom housing has a rounded contour. I assume this was to make the device more comfortable to hold. The problem is it will not sit securely on less than perfectly flat surfaces. Every time it falls (even a couple of feet) the remote resets to a first time user welcome screen that requires the user to go through a 12 step orientation before it can be used again. 2) It seems to be very directional. I use it to power three devices on and off with a single button push. You must aim the remote at the devices you are controlling for several seconds. If you get impatient or point the remote ever so slightly away from the devices, it will not work. I spent less time when I had three separate remotes.

It won't last

Date:February 5, 2013
When the 650 works, it works great. This won't last long though. I've had mine for about 18 months and now some of the most used buttons are not working. Others on this review stream seem to have the same problems. I've contacted customer service. Since it is just out of warranty, they tell me its trash and to buy a new one as no repair can be done. After a year of use, consider yourself on borrowed time.

Great Remote

Date:February 2, 2013
:ATT Uverse, Panasonic DVD, LG 3D Smart TV, Pioneer Reciever
I was an AT&T remote user until I went through three remotes in less than two years, and looked through many different options because I was not really looking to spend the extra dollars for a remote. However, I purchased the remote and signed into MyHarmony and was up and running in 10 minutes...
The best review is that my wife loves (definitely not as nerdy as me) the remote and works all of the devices by activity rather than one setup and then mashing function buttons to work the DVD or receiver.
Thanks Logitech team!!!

Good remote, bad software

Date:January 29, 2013
There are two software programs you can use with this remote, Logitech Harmony Remote Software 7 and MyHarmony. I recommend the MyHarmony as it took me two days working with Logitech Harmony Remote Software 7 and didn't get anywhere with it. I had it working within 20 minutes with the MyHarmony software. Don't know why they need two. But it works great now.

Super easy to setup and generate macros. I really like the remote when it works. That's the problem though, it constantly crashes and goes into assistant mode. If I give it a nice rap on the side of the remote it will work for a couple of days. Eventually it will go back into the crash loop though. I've performed all the troubleshooting stuff and it just won't work consistently.

Does everything that I need to do

Date:January 27, 2013

My Harmony One developed an expanding battery issue and died! I did not want to spend the money to replace it, thought that I would try the 650. I works better than the One every did.
The other added plus is the big improvement in the ease of programming.
