Great Remote

Date:January 4, 2011
I just purchased the Harmony 300 and it is such a time saver and a geat solution to all the remotes required prior to purchase. It replaced 4 remotes. I can now watch TV, control my home theater, control my DVD/VCR combo, and control my satillite box, all from the Harmony 300 remote. The DVD/VCR combo I have is old but there was a code for it in the remote control database! Even the website is so easy and straightforward to use. It had answers to some of my questions and directed me on how to do "special options".
I am thrilled.

Lag/Delay makes a beautiful remote unusable

Date:December 5, 2010
I love everything about this remote except its performance. They lag after puhing a single button is so long, you press the button a second time as you think you didn't press it hard enough, then finally it moves two places.
There is no documention on how to change the delay settings and the setup software doesn't seem to allow changes to low level things like this. The delay settings only appear available on the more expensive units. But given the money i've wasted on this remote, i can't justify the risk....

Solved the problem

Date:November 5, 2010
Bought 2 for 2 cheap, no-name lcd tv's that would not work with the stock cable pvr remotes. Both tv's were not in the Harmony database, but I tried same brand/ different model # for one and that worked, other tv had to be "learned" which was simple with the Harmony software. Happy to be on 1 remote for each tv now, the only complaint would be that the 300 is made of a slippery plastic and is quite unbalanced; still prefer the stock Atlas if it would work with the 2 tv's.

No Macro

Date:September 5, 2010
If the "My Device" Buttons were One Touch Macro and whould change the inputs on the Receiver and TV this would be the perfect remote for anyone hands down. Simple, Easy, Not too may buttons, whistles, and bells, no complicated screens with buttons beside them confusing the heck out of people because the think the screen is a touch screen and get all upset when they cant figure out how to turn the TV on.
Make the "My Device" button Macro-One Touch, keep the price down and I will buy thousands of these for all my properties.

does not work with Yamaha receiver

Date:August 24, 2010
It's probably an excellent remote except for not operating my Yamaha RX-V563 receiver. And that is the sole reason I bought it, to operate the audio receiver. I lost the receiver remote and was told that the Harmony could run all 4 items, TV, cable, DVD, and audio receiver. It will turn the receiver on but will not change the settings (tuner, straight, DVD, and TV viewing) to the TV viewing. I must walk over and do that manually. And it will not turn the receiver off. I again must walk over, open the cabinet door, and turn it off each time.

Good Remote for the Money

Date:August 23, 2010
I have been using this remote for a couple of days now and only had 2 problems.
1. It would not work on my Orion VCR, even though it found the settings for it
2. The volume on my Panasonic Tv changes by 2's when I use the remote.

Perfect!

Date:August 17, 2010
This remote was an absolute breeze to set up. It works with everything. I have an Insignia tv, motorola cable box, xbox 360, and logitech z-5500's for home theater. It works flawlessly for all of them. We went from 4 remotes to 1. I would recommend this remote to anyone who is looking for a truely universal remote. With its huge product database, finding what you want to control is very simple. I am a long time supporter of logitech and all logitech products. This is just one more logitech product that I fully stand behind and would recommed to anyone. I have zero complaints. Logitech gets two thumbs up and 5 million stars all around. Thank you Logitech for a perfect solution to remote control clutter.

Not the easy programing I was hoping for

Date:June 21, 2010
This is my second Harmony remote. I also have the Harmony 890 for the main system of my house. Although the 890 is one of Harmony more premium remote I have come to hold it's ease of use and and basic features as a standard for Harmony remotes. I was very excited when I found out about the 300 as an entry level advanced remote for my secondary system. I was immediately disappointed with the online setup as opposed to the program that was included with the 890. When I tried to program the remote to use my Denon AV receiver, I ran into my major "problem" with this remote. I was unable to program the simple function of changing the input directly to my "DVR" input on the receiver without programing it like a learning remote. My problem isn't that programing a learning remote is too difficult for me, its that I spent the money to have an advanced remote not a learning remote. When I suggest Harmony remotes to customers, I tell them they can program the remote completely on the computer in a non technical setup. Many of my customers whom I suggest Harmony remotes too cannot or do not want to program a learning remote. Also if you are one of the many people that have lost or have broken remotes, then you might not be able to program all you features using the 300. If you are looking for a remote that doesn't take your teenager to program I would not suggest the Harmony 300 and will not suggest to my technologically illiterate customers from now on.
After completing the programing for the remote I was highly satisfied with its performance in running my devices. Although I would prefer the favorite buttons to control my receiver instead of just channels, as I don't have cable or satellite and do not have favorite channels. I hope that Logitech updates their software for programming the remotes to include more features and give users the ability to program every button regardless off expected purpose to do whatever the individual might want to do.
To anyone looking to purchase a high quality advanced remote I definitely suggest moving up to at least the 690 over the 300.

The Not So Perfect Gift for Father's Day

Date:June 20, 2010
Don't get me wrong, I like this remote. It's just missing the one feature that makes me buy a Harmony. It has the Harmony look, the Harmony feel, and the Harmony Interface (new one is amazing BTW).
What this remote does lack is multiple activities and even the one it has is lacking. This remote only has one activity, and that is Watch TV. In this mode, you can program it to turn on any of the four programed devices, but thats it. No swtiching to HDMI 1, or Optical 3, just turning things on.
I know logitech is positioning this thing as an entry level harmony, but without the ability to set activites, its just a 10 dollar universal remote with a 40 dollar usb interface.

Another excellent Logitech product

Date:June 17, 2010
I have tried other universal remotes but for ease of setup, this one has them beat. The software had all the setup information for my TV, Cable Box, and xBox 360. The only difficulty was in training my xBox. The xBox controller is a little difficult to maintain the RF signal during training. Would recommend this to anyone wanting to dump the mulitple remotes scenario.

This Is A No Brainer

Date:June 12, 2010
Considering that factory remotes usually see the upside of 100 dollars, and they only work for the one device, buying a Logitech 300 universal remote that can control up to 4 devices makes this a no brainer; you're getting what is equivalent to 4 remotes for less than half the price of one factory remote.
I have several of the Logitech remotes, another 300, a 700, and a 720. I especially like the simplicity of the 300 and the layout of the buttons. It mimics logically the devices remotes that I am using it for. Everything has a learning curve but this one is minimal.
I especially love the price, but if I had my druthers, I would pay a little bit more and get a backlit model. I often watch in the dark, and until you grow accustomed to the layout, figuring out where everything is takes a little getting used to. Most of the important buttons come naturally; it's the unusual ones that you go probing for.
The build quality is substantial, and the buttons feel just right.
I could go on for hours, you can see why I am glad to have 2 of them, but believe me, once you go with one of the Harmony series remotes from Logitech, you will be hooked. I am. Highly recommended.

Pleantly Surprised

Date:May 31, 2010
This turned out to be the remote control I needed to replace the two remotes I was currently using. The controls are responsive, well placed and fairly easy to use. The hardest thing was unlearning the habits of using the two old remotes.
Very well done Logitech!

Logitech Keeping it Simple

Date:May 30, 2010
I have been waiting for Logitech to come out with a remote like this for some time. It gives you the logitech online support and interface without being 100% activity based ("watch TV","watch DVD", etc.)
I pulled 1 star from features for 2 reasons:
1. Only supports 4 devices. Great if you have four or less. Not so great if you have more.
2. It would be nice to be able to cross program the remote so that you can access additional TV functions while under cable/sat. It does this for volume ofcourse but I'd like to be able to program the 1-5 buttons across the top to select my TV inputs without having to press TV.
Other than, I couldn't be happier.

No nonsense remote control

Date:May 20, 2010
I can't verify that this remote control is compatible with "5000+" brands, as it states on the box, but it worked with every product I tried it with. This rc doesn't have the fancy screen that its big brothers have but it gets the job done simply and without hassle.

Logitech Harmony® 300 Remote

Date:May 20, 2010
this remote is a breeze to set up, but make sure you have an internet connection, because it doesnt come with a driver disc. after downloading the software, i programmed the remote to control my LCD flat screen TV, cable TV receiver, media center PC, and xbox. everything worked on the first attempt. there is a slight learning curve if you are used to your original remote(s), because some buttons dont perform the function you are expecting. but the payoff is getting to put those three extra remote controls in the junk drawer.
aside from the Harmony 300 Remote being a little back-heavy (because of the batteries), it fits pretty comfortably in your hand.
one other minor thing is the absence of backlit buttons.but if you are willing to pay a little more, there are other models available with that feature.

Does the Job!

Date:May 19, 2010
This is the first time I have ever had all my boxes in one. I had entertained purchasing a Harmony for a long time but I have a simple (4 component) setup and it seemed that the others were overkill (at least for me at this time).
The Harmony 300 is perfect for me and most important "It does the job!" The setup couldn't be easier and its ease of use has surprised me. The Only criticism is that I wish it was back-lighted. One thing is for sure I will never be without a Harmony remote again.
