Lasts 'til the bitter end

Date:January 31, 2012
I have owned this headset for about four years or so now. I found it at Walmart on clearance for about $30. I'm a semi-heavy gamer (or at least I was when I bought them) and use Skype, Google Hangouts, etc frequently now. After four years the right ear piece doesn't stay in place and I recently lost the foam padding, though it was starting to wear through. However, the audio and microphone are still great. If the loose ear piece didn't annoy me so much, I wouldn't even consider replacing it.
I didn't even own a laptop when I bought it, but now that I do, it's quite handy and I love the case! Not that I utilize it unless I'm on the road. It's spent most of it's time either chilling on my floor near my desktop or draped over my desk. It really does take a beating! I think I've even accidentally stepped on it a few times.
Would recommend this to anyone. :)

Very comfortable headset

Date:December 24, 2011
That said. I have owned this headset for quite a while. I had to put a tie wrap on the volume control to hold it together after I damaged it. It still works fine, just looks funky. The only problem I'm having is getting replacement foam pads for them. Yes, I've owned them long enough to wear out the foam. I can't seem to find anyone selling the pads. Even without the pads, they are still fairly comfortable. Most headsets hurt my ears after an hour or so of use.

Terrible Durabilitiy

Date:November 1, 2011
I have had this product for almost 2 years, and had to have it replaced 3...now 4 times. All 4 times it has ceased functioning for some reason, despite moderate use.
1) The left earcup detatched and then the whole thing stopped working
2) The device stopped working, and was no longer detected by Windows as an Audio device.
3) The mic and left earcup electrocuted me, then stopped working
4) The mic would go in and out with horrible static, and the left earcup started coming loose again.
After this final replacement I have decided to void the H555.
While the sound quality is superb, I don't use things that easily break. 4 Replacements for defective hardware tells me it isn't a 'one in a million', but more like a defective line of product.

Best in class

Date:August 11, 2011
I've had one of these headsets for almost 3 years. That says a lot because I'm pretty hard on wires and cables. Stepping on them, twisting them, yanking them accidentally... I'm a hazard. Yet this headset has lasted me 3 years and only now is it finally giving out because I've gotten to that "one too many crimps" point with the headset cable.
I'm going out to buy another one of these, and that's a testament. The headset is comfortable, and the unit sounds great to people on the other end (as well as having good sound on my end). The headset runs great with Linux (I've been using it with Fedora releases for 3 years) and the case makes it convenient to pack for trips where I need to use my voice-over-IP softphone.
Highly recommended, especially if you can find it for forty bucks, which frequently happens in warehouse stores.

Good headset

Date:June 21, 2011
This is a good headset for the traveller. The unit is light and folds up into a relatively small profile for carrying. The audio is good, not exceptional. The slider tabs on the side of the ear piece broke off the first week of owning the headset, so the construction quality is marginal. The headset squeezes the side of my head behind my ears after using for an hour or longer.
Pros: lightweight, folding unit
Cons: uncomfortable after wearing for some time

Best out of the five

Date:April 16, 2011
This headset is absolutely by far the best I've ever had. I have tried five different models I judge for for quality, comfort, portability. The H555 tops them all. Also works great for Dragon NaturallySpeaking.

Great product

Date:April 10, 2011
I've had these for 2-3 years now they still sound Great. the foam ear piece covers are nearly worn off. I play mmo vid games so I'm wearing them for hours at a time. They are comfortable and the sound quality is Great. I'm disapointed that I can not find replacement foam for them however. I would recomened these to anyone that wants comfort and great sound.
