Almost perfect, best bang for your buck

I "took the risk" - because of some reviews - 4 months ago to buy a set of these. Plugged, tested and immediately smiled. Incredibly clear and very loud. I tried only with the green plug connected and they were already very good. Finding they were so brilliant, they did worth a 5.1 card, what I bought just the day after. Couldn't believe it, they managed to be better! The sound is simply astonishing. I listen to 4-5hrs of music every day and watch some films. I didn't forget to break in for about 30hrs and today they work perfectly. My 3rd Logitech speakers system bought within a year, 2 being offered, and they all work, they are very reliable.
However, there is something wrong - note that it might be related to my sound card - : if you set the sound over 80%, the subwoofer continuously rumbles without a reason... Not a problem as usually I prefer not to go over 50% of its ability, faaaaaaar enough to make my windows rumble and the neighbourhood quickly come to my door to complain.
I highly recommend them, and recommend using them with a good 5.1 sound card.

Great for the price

If you are looking for decent speakers for a computer, or TV, look no further. The sound quality is pretty good, I wish there was a little more bass sound - not what is coming from the sub, that is plenty.
The rear speakers seem a little quiet, but that might just be because I am only using one 35mm cable. The headphone jack on the speakers is always welcome.
If you are looking for some system that can rival the best that Bose has to offer, well, Logitech isn't a great place to start for that. But if you are looking for a relativity cheap set with great sound for the money, this is it.
*note - The first song I played with the system was Cliffs of Dover, cranked it all the way up, did not blow the speakers :)

So my brother gave me his x530s because he was in college. Those were really good. Recently he took the x530s to college and I had no speakers. I really liked Logitech so I looked for a speaker like the x530. Then I found this. Cheap, in fact very cheap. I ordered it on amazon and it came. I opened it. It is very easy to set up and longer cables than most Logitech speakers. I hooked it up and played all sorts of music. It handled it very well. It was on half volume. I could hear it from the other side of the house.It is so loud and clear. It is AWESOME. No buzz or anything bad. Hope you like it!!!

We just bought a new Samsung 50" television and needed a sound system. Having seen a friend use smaller Logitech speakers with their 55" model and being thoroughly impressed I looked at these.
WOW!!!!!!!!!!! Don't believe the garbage salespeople feed you about needing to pay hundreds for sound. We bought these and connected them to the TV's headphones-out socket and let me tell you they sound quality is simply amazing. I read here somewhere about somebody experiencing (in their case) poor sound? You obviously have a dodgy set, take the back! What gives? They are really good quality looking too not poor as someone else said - that's rubbish (sorry!).
Guys, these things are simply astounding and rattle my house so why would I want to spend hundreds more?? Turned them up...zero vibration. Zero buzz. Only had the volume to 50 max otherwise too damned loud they will deafen you - and your neighbors.
Brilliant bass too guys. But these I guarantee you won't regret it.

Easy to install but poor in quality of sound. A lot of popping from center and front speakers. Very little sound from back speakers which are not clear.
A huge amount of distortion and popping from the base.
I had to replace Logitech Z-Cinema speakers because they were not compatible with Windows 8. If only there was a driver for the Z-Cinema I would put them back on the system.
If you are looking for a quality set of speakers, look elsewhere.
I have always had good products from Logitech, but this is my first looser.

Wonder what that buzzing noise is?? look at the base of the sub only to find that the bass is so powerful (or the material is bad) that it rips its self....but otherwise its really good!

Biggest Bang for your buck

For $100, you cant even buy an equal quality sub...This set up is amazing, you can combine your audio from your tv, mp3 player and your computer to do some serious mixing. Great for moderate gamers! The Bass is amazing, you can feel gun shots and explosion's without a doubt.
Music is a 9/10, but for the price it is above and beyond.

Awesome power for the price!

As usual, Logitech does not fail to impress me. I was on a budget when buying a new 5.1 system and I found this ones. The power they deliver for the price is simply spectacular.Even if I need 6 channels for a flight sim, or just 3 for some intense electronic music, this system performs to my every need. Of course, its sounds just like I want it to because I have a dedicated sound card on my pc.

What a Sound?!

I started out with this and it is a waste of money. What is that buzzing sound? It is like it is dying and needs CPR or something, but it was never used before, so I quickly replace the "Surround Sound Speakers" with Speaker System Z623 which is much better.

Great Computer Speakers (X-540 Replacements)

This 5.1 system is obviously a replacement for the Logitech X-540. Given the $100 or less price point, I'm quite impressed with the Z506. The only thing missing from the old system is the remote which gave desktop access to the sub-woofer volume. The matrix button is also gone, but I personally didn't use that. I do find that the surround effect is better with the Z506. With adjustments to the sub level itself and digging into the Windows, Sound Card/motherboard sound settings, you can get these to sound quite good. Although I do miss having control of the sub-woofer on my desk, it is nice not to have the wired remote adding to the clutter.
The speaker housings look better than the boxy modules from the X-540. They have a sleek, slightly futuristic look. A fine mesh protects the drivers instead of a snap on grill. There is one full range driver and tweeter per satellite except for the centre which has two drivers and no tweeter. As I type this, and glance at the centre channel speaker, I can't help feeling like I'm being watched by Wall-E. The four satellites have no provision for wall or key hole mounting, unlike the X-540s, so rear speaker placement might be hard for some. The centre speaker has a base that allows for upward tilting or mounting on top of a monitor. I just tried it to be sure, and it works well, (plus the Wall-E thing was creeping me out a little).
I wouldn't use these for a home theatre application. There are better (albeit a bit more expensive), solutions. These are not audiophile speakers by a long shot, but for 5.1 gaming audio on my PC, I'm more than satisfied.

I bought these speakers about two days ago because the reviews say they are pretty good. I am always excited when first opening and installing the product. I have got to say that Logitech have done a good job in the labelling and packaging. I have tested these speakers and they are much better than the last set of Logitech speakers I bought and returned due to the flat treble quality. I have tried the speakers and the highs are good, the mids are also good, and I am impressed with the bass quality. Personally I would recommend using this system on a computer and watching tv as they do transform a standard 3.5mm input into 5.1 surround sound. The only thing I advise if you want better surround sound is to get a 5.1 or better sound card for your computer if you don't already have one. If you are a very high standard listener, then you sould buy a better system. By the way Logitech, throw in a matrix decoder for virtual surround and this system would be even cooler.

my first review i wrote was a bad one..now i change my mine..if u learn how to hook it up right ...it the best sound i have ever heard from a pc...the sound just blows u back in ur seat.am one of the happys person on the earth now for buying this product..i have told some of my friends to buy this and two of them have already ordered this system and can't wait to set it up on there computer. you don't have to take my word for it..but if you do..you won't be sorry .. a very happy buyer of this system...cowboyedd

I bought a Z-5500 & it was the wickedest speaker I had to date. I had to sell it to a friend to stop him from hassling me all the time, he bought it from for hundreds more than I had recently paid for it & in use for over 1-1/2 years. He Loved It Too. But I soon bought the Z506 5.1 speaker system and I was amaze for it small size that it can produce such quality.

I don't know how Z506 is able to simulate 5.1 connecting only 1 3.5mm jack, but it does. If you connect a TV it is really 5.1 (front speakers have different sound than rear) fornt are voices, and rear are ambient, or if voices are far, they come only from rear.....it is really great!

After reading the reviews i wasn't really sure who to believe, but i have just hooked these up in my living room to my t.v. and it sounds great, and my living room is huge, obviously not as good as the $399 set from longitech but for the price these are hard to beat, i just hope they last. Only bad thing is no remote. Great bass also.
