Bad features..

Date:February 20, 2012
Brilliant quality, but horrible features of the camera and the software itself. I mean the recording feature is so bad you can't set a time limit or a schedule. The Web Commander recording playback feature is so bad, it doesn't even load up and I have internet speed of 40mbps. This camera needs to have an external DVR feature.. That would just solve the problem of mine because it's complicated with the micro SD card when I don't have a computer available all the time.

Great product if it weren't for one major flaw.

Date:October 30, 2011
Overall Logitech security cameras and software are outstanding products, but these systems continue to suffer dearly from one major flaw in that the cameras do not continue to record for at least 5-10 seconds after motion has been detected. This problem is within Logitech's solution as it has been proven to be independent of operating system and PC hardware. As a result you often end up with critical dropouts in the recordings despite continuous motion within the defined motion frames. This is a standard feature on all respectable security-camera systems in this price range. But rather than applying a proper fix, Logitech only seems interested in giving lip service. Without this important feature it self defeats the whole purpose of having a security-camera system to begin with.
The only other somewhat minor issue is Logitech only packages these cameras as a powerline solution. If you don't mind the extra cost of $200 for a good PoE network switch and a box of Cat5e (and in turn eating the cost of the included powerline network adapters), you end up with a much cleaner and often much easier installation - especially if there are several permanently-mounted cameras. However, powerline network adapters are great for a detached garage or remote barn, or for moving cameras around.

This is very easy to use and set up.

Date:October 22, 2011
This was the easiest system to set up on my computer yet. Anybody should be able to set this 750i up. The pictures are great. Sharp and clear. All you need is an outlet buy the camera and a computer. It is very easy to view on my andorid phone. I have my camera pointed out toward the front yard. Can't wait to buy the outdoor camera with night vision. I like the movement actived recording. It doesn't use up memory.

Very Pleased so far (after one day)

Date:June 30, 2011
Only a day into it, but works as advertised.
The Install Wizard told me setup had failed, then I noticed the window behind had my video, so ignore the Wizard.Lost video after updating everything; eventually remembered Reset button on Camera and this got me going again.
On a slow connection, or one with high latency, (satellite ISP), cannot view remotely with my iPhone G4 on WiFi, but can with G4 connection. Can view with the laptop via WiFi though.
The App doesn't seem to work on the iPad, crashes. Maybe due to the aforementioned Bandwidth/Latency issue I have, but a notification of deficiency would be better than an App crash with no feedback.
The alert options are good, text and/or emailed snapshot, and you can set up multiples. Seems like about 1-2 minutes for email alerts to go throu Logitechs servers to my Gmail account.
Some have complained of having to login to the Remote Apps repetedly. There is an auto-login option in the App settings, which works on my phone. The video stream is pretty solid on the phone too.
Yes, the AC adapters/interface boxes are enormous!
If you read the instruction sheet, you'll know that it may not operate if plugged into a power strip or surge protector, because the camera is communicating over your houselhold AC wiring; so the big adapter boxes need to plug directly into AC wall outlets. This may be why many users report failure with these. Data over AC systems can be finicky.
Images of moving object is blurred. If someone moved quickly, you wouldn't be able to ID them from the video.
I'm unclear about what the $79 service is. Will I lose ability to view remote video after free period, or just won't be able to change settings remotely without the service? I won't be adding service.
I will buy another for the other side of my shop pretty soon, I like this device, though I will look for sale pricing.

Way to easy!!

Date:April 12, 2011
I purchased this Alert 750i Master System at Best Buy. I thought this would take hours to install like all other computer software but I was wrong. Just Plug and Play. It took me 5 minutes and I was up and runnning. Great HD picture, no running wires, very easy to install software (it does all the work for you). It even updated the camera's software as well as the main software. Very impressed and manual was well done and easy to follow. Love how it uses the house's AC wires to transmit the video.

The quality seems to be fine. It is easy to install but you have to fix it somehow to something and it's not a mobile unit. E.g. if you want to use this as a baby camera it won't allow you to take the camera viewing unit everywhere and look at the baby instantaneously. You can try using it on the Blackberry or iphone or lap top but it's only a snapshot after you sign in. It takes quite some time to sign in. Also, it doesn't alert you really when the baby cries. Even if it does it takes too long. I use another baby monitor unit instead.
In theory it is a good device to be able to view the home remotely but in reality 9 times out of 10 it doesn't work. Either it says there's no signal or it's down. Sometimes my husband can see it other times both of us cannot. He has an iphone 4, which seems to work better, probably because of the 4G?
Overall, it's been quite frustrating and I spend more time trying to log in than actually viewing.

Have All 3 Security Products

Date:March 18, 2011
I have 4 of the Logitech Wilife indoor cameras and just bought a Logitech Command Alert outdoor and 1 750i. All of the products work great. Even caught someone breaking into the neighbors and the Sheriff's office caught the guy 2 weeks later with the help of my video. The great thing about the Command Alert is that BOTH the indoor and outdoor cameras work on the same software, you don't need to download separate software for the indoor and outdoor cameras. Took less than 5 minutes to set up the indoor camera and most of that time was the computer trying to locate the new camera. I have had the Wilife cameras for about 2 years and they work great. I can only hope that the new Command Alert cameras are just as reliable. Very satisfied!

desired features

Date:February 7, 2011
I love everything about the system so far. Setup was unclear about rebooting system after software update, but tech support was very patient and worked me through everything. One feature that I would like to see added would be the ability for two way communications. That would be helpful both in the security aspect and also the monitoring capabilities.

Great with IPAD and IPOD

Date:January 29, 2011
I had a problem at first with my lap top and the overall system, but the problem was with my lap top not the Logitech software. Now that I have everything working. I now have the Live camera on my IPAD, IPOD touch and your system workes great.

Problems for ever

Date:January 23, 2011
I have bought this system and was very happy with the features and quality of the images. The big issue I have faced many times is the camera couldn't be seen online (remotely)
and eventually even at home the camera could not been detected at all. I tried to reset it but still not detected.
I returned the camera after 2 month of success and failure.
Very disappointed.

GREAT SYSTEM!

Date:January 23, 2011
I bought the outdoor camera and the indoor camera. I had the first camera up and running on my home network in about 10 minutes. I wired the second camera last and had the sytem up and going in under an hour.
It works great! I expanded the functionality by taking the videos from my PC and syncing them with Microsoft's Live Mesh service so I have a copy in the cloud just in case I ever needed them and best of all this is free!
These cameras are awesome, the quality is outstanding and there are indeed HD cameras. I will be buying more.

Does everything as advertised!

Date:January 10, 2011
I'm not sure what the other reviewers are complaining about- I had this out of the box, and providing video in about 10 minutes. Yes, the power supplies for the Camera and Master Station are big, but so what.
The software is intuitive, the setup instructions are just about idiot-proof, the functionality is exactly what they claim. The motion-detection can be isolated to specific areas in the field of vision (I saw the configuration tool, but admit I didn't try it). Sound can be turned on or off- after agreeing to a legal statement about recording/listening (legality in each state is different).
I do have two (minor) complaints:
#1: Pricing- my suspicion is the price will come down to meet competition- There are other major networking companies with motion-detection cameras that are about 2/3rds the price, not sure about an exact feature-by-feature comparison, but there are others out there. For ease-of-use, the Logitech Alert would be tough to beat, so you may be paying for peace of mind.
#2: The remote-access full functionality costs another $79 (per year?). You can do everything to fully configure if connected on the same LAN- but if you want to reconfigure a remote camera setting, you have to pay, or physically go to the site being monitored. For me, this is a minor inconvenience, because the site being monitored is 3 hours drive away, I guess I could just pay the $79, but I feel like I've paid enough already and should get the full remote access. Note that I understand this was documented before I bought, but now it's principal. I still highly recommend the unit.

Room for Improvement

Date:November 28, 2010
If you are comparing with the Panasonic, I also have 2 Panasonic security cameras. Panasonic Full control on line is free vs. Logitech charges for full control (bad). Logitech has much-much better image quality and lower light image but no tilt and pan like Pana. I have had no problems with either. This is a good selection for a 15 foot fixed location and with decent light provides an excellent image. Blures image if someone walks by quickly though. Pricy overall for what is in the box.

Date:November 15, 2010
I have had this system for 3 weeks and it has either been down from a system migration or will not load to a remote laptop when I am on the road.
Customer support folks are great, equipment is good but the internet system is weak at best and, simply does not have the capacity to support remote access.
