Nice keyboard overall but ctrl key failed in less then one year. If you are a heavy user, look for something better.
Mouse is average. Lacks a good scroller.

The mouse is too small and hurt my hand from all the scrunching/bent position when using it.
The keyboard F keys don't work and I recieved a replacement, where they were even worse. All of them went straight to the Help page, whihc is the traditional functon of the F! key.

I have had my 520 for a year now and have had no problems whatsoever. This is by far the best Keyboard and mouse combo I have ever owned. The batteries in the mouse are going 6 to seven months and the keyboard would probably go much longer as I change them when I do the mouse.
Logitech is the best!!!!

Great Combo, the only thing I don't like is that the Number-Lock key does not have a green indicating like the Caps-Lock key does.
I installed this combo on a Linux computer; there is no way for me to know when the Num-Lock key is On or Off.
Other thank that ... this is a great set.

I'm sitting in my lounger across the room form the big screen tv surfin web, doing taxes. or just playing a game. This is outstanding. The installation was dumb simple plug in the usb port. pull the tape on the enclosed batteries and stand back and watch the magic. Set up the function keys and sit back and enjoy this gear.

I've been using this for 1 wk now. I switched from the most basic Logitech model and there is such a difference - this is much better. I like the more substantial feel (heavier and sturdier) of the keyboard and mouse right off the bat. Installation was simple (just take off the plastics on the batteries, plug in the little receiver, and done).
Keyboard:
The rounded edges on the keys feel nice on the fingertips. I've never gotten any lag or non-response so far. However, there are a few things I don't like about the key placement. First, I still have a hard time getting used to the keys between the letter and number pad. It seems their placement created a wider space between the letter and # pad than necessary. In fact, because of this, I feel my arms are squished to the left when typing. When I need to switch to the mouse, my right arm has to swing further away. Also, I rarely use 'Insert' but I keep hitting it when trying to reach for 'Home'. The 'Delete' key is not a longer button anymore, which means a more deliberate effort is needed to find it (which I always need to do). Also, due to the wide space between the letters/#'s, the keyboard seems to be wider than it needs to be leaving less space for the mouse on my keyboard tray.
Mouse:
Right away, the mouse felt really smooth compared to the last more basic desktop set I was using. It is weighed heavier but for some reason feels really good on the hands and takes much less effort to use. It feels like gliding over smooth ice. I also have not experienced lagging or response problems which used to happen a lot with the previous Logitech combo whenever I'm on my cellphone. So I'm 100% more satisfied with the MK520 combo.

I am impressed with the features of this keyboard, how easy it was to set up, and how well it looks and feels. Seems it will last a long time.
The problem I have is that I do some gaming, and as such it requires good response time from my keyboard keys. It would seems since I've had this keyboard i've noticed quite often I will have a lag when typing and moving around. Movement with the keyboard is not reliable and it seems to often cut in and out and lag while typing.
The mouse feels very nice in the hand, but it also suffers from response issues. As far as I can tell the batteries should be fresh as I've only been using it for a couple weeks. I tried it on a mousepad, and then also straight off of the desk - each time it will have a lag problem. I often have to give it a good shake in order to see the arrow, otherwise it doesn't show up or moves very herky-jerky when trying to click on something.
I really like the concept of a wireless keyboard and mose, and the product does look nice and mostly works, so I can't give it all bad reviews. But I did expect a lot more out of this product than what I had gotten. Next time I am in the market for something like this, I will definately try a different brand.

I've been a very heavy keyboard user for years. I don't touch my mouse unless I absolutely have to. I just got this keyboard as a replacement for my existing Logitech keyboard. The keys feel good, but the keyboard is almost unusable to me as is, because Logitech took away the context menu key. Yes, you can stretch your hand and click FN-PrtScreen each time you need a right-click, but that's way too cumbersome. I use that key dozens to hundreds of times a day. I'm probably going to give away this brand new keyboard because of it.
This is after Logitech has already messed up their keyboards in general by moving around the home/end/ins/del keys to that nasty vertical layout, getting rid of the INS key alotgether, (then putting it back in some models).
Logitech used to make great keyboards, but they're about to lose this user as a customer.
Is anyone listening?

If you are a heavy user of this keyboard, like I am, I am a writer, and then you will see its shortcomings in time. After about 6 months the keys stick or even fail to register. The mouse is great and I still use it but have since gotten a cheap replacement keyboard to use. The 'new' key technology is just not for heavy use like the older spring technology keyboards. This keyboard, while awesome when new tended to wear quickly, so if you are a 'browser' or occasional user, this would be a great setup. So it’s a 50/50 call. Great ergonomics, which is why I bought it, but it failed too quickly for the price I paid.

This product is dead easy to install. Plug it in and go. I have several Logitech wireless mice and they all work very well; no complaints, except for this unit I do have a somewhat minor complaint. This one seems to be much more fussy about the surface color and texture of the pad/working surface. I will need to investigate a pad for this one. My other mice work well on most all surfaces except dark and shiny. I plan to keep this unit if I can find a pad that it likes.

Frustrated, I tossed my old keyboard into the garbage, drove to the local office supply store and picked up the Logitech MK520 combo.
Breathing a little easier since I had a possible solution in hand, I drove home, pulled my new mouse/keyboard combo from the box, pulled the battery tabs, plugged in the receiver to the USB port and.. voila! Totally plug and play.. I am no longer frustrated and thinking Logitech has saved me - again!
The keyboard keys are rounded and easy to read, the mouse works flawlessly and the little receiver is so tiny that I can simply close my laptop and go.. forget all the receivers that stick out! This is the way to go!

I was looking for a Linux compatible wireless keyboard and mouse combo that would fit my keyboard tray, and have a reasonable sized (not too small) Escape key. I bought this because another review said it worked with Ubuntu Linux, which I am running on a Lenovo X300 laptop. Yes, indeed, it works out of the box, and I am completely happy with it. I also like that it has a light on the caps lock key. For the record, it is a little less than 7.5 in by 18 in. by 1 in (with the little legs folded). I could not find this anywhere on line in the Logitech descriptions. This kind of information used to be available.
Maybe lots of other wireless keyboards and mice are Linux compatible too. It would be nice if the manufacturer was willing to say so.

Went looking for a replacement (wired) keyboard -- bought this instead. Easy to imstall is an understatement! One question: what's the CORD for? Nowhere in the instructions did it tell you and I didn't need it to install the keyboard or mouse so a bit confusing....

This is the most everyday-usable keyboard/mouse combos I have ever used. It has performed flawlessly for every task I have thrown at it. As a student who types many papers, and as a gamer who plays a lot of games for which response time is key, I could not be happier.
I have had this keyboard/mouse combo for 12 months now and I only recently had to change the batteries in each device.
Admittedly, the glossy parts of the keyboard are slight dust magnets. However, the fact that there is a dead-simple on/off switch in the corner of the keyboard, coupled with the fact that the keyboard is wireless, makes this keyboard incredibly easy to clean. When I notice mine getting dusty, all I do is turn it off, run it up against a sleeve once or twice, and it is clean. The mouse simply doesn't get dusty.
As for media buttons, I find the balance on this keyboard perfect for me. The only dedicated buttons are Previous Track, Play/Pause, Next Track, mute, lower volume, and raise volume, in that order. Those are the only media buttons I have ever used before and it remains true today. There are a bunch of function-key buttons shared with the F-keys, but I never use them, so I appreciate they never get in the way. Likewise with the dedicated back, forward, favorites, and calculator buttons; they never in the way and I never use them.
As for the mouse, it's simple and that's exactly how I like it. There's a left-click, a right-click, a middle-click (on the scroll wheel), and a simple scroll wheel. This is exactly how I like my mouse. I know there will be those who contest me, but I rather appreciate the exclusion of a tilt-wheel. The ergonomics are fantastic. I use it for 3+ hours a day, and my hand has never gotten uncomfortable with it. It's supportive, well-sized, and it slides over my mousepad perfectly. All this, and it looks good too!
As for the keyboard, it's comfortable, the keys are quiet, the keys respond very, very well, and it takes zero getting-used-to. I never could appreciate the so-called ergonomic keyboard designs, so this suits me rather well. When I first got the keyboard, the mandatory wrist-rest bothered me (because it makes the keyboard's footprint significantly larger), but I have come to appreciate it quite a bit. I tend to put my keyboard and mouse very close to the edge of my desk, and the wrist-rest extension have forced me to put my wrists down on my desk during long typing sessions, which is something I never before knew I didn't do. The keyboard is light(weight), but not too light, it has terrific traction on my wood desk, it is angled well, and is an all-around joy to use. By that, I mean I completely forget that I'm using a device to type at all, which is, in my opinion, the best praise that a keyboard can get.
As for gaming, this keyboard/mouse combo will cater to the average gamer, but not to those who require function keys/dedicated hotkeys. I love the set because I can rest the keyboard on my lap while gaming and the wireless mouse gives slightly more freedom than a wired mouse. The response times for each device have, in all of my tests (I frequently play rhythm games wherein timing is an absolute necessity), proven just as good as, and frequently better than, their wired counterparts. Bottom line: Despite their everyday/commonplace appearance, nature, and design, this set does very well for most games. MMO/RPG gamers will find the keyboard and mouse less than ideal, but to puzzle/rhythm/shooter gamers, this set shows no faults. That being said, I would like a backlit keyboard (and I do know that Logitech offers a backlit version of this keyboard), but that would only matter to me is the keyboard was constantly-lit, which exists only in wishful thinking as far as wireless keyboards go.
Let me explain the above star-rating categories that are not perfect:
Quality: The scroll-wheel on the mouse misses detection of scrolling on very rare occasion. It's certainly not frequent enough to be a problem; merely a (very) infrequent annoyance.
Features: The keyboard and mouse are both very simple devices with only the features that the average computer user will need. That being said, there are some people who will complain that they are too simple/have too few features (see above). I am not one such person and I think that everything that should be there is there.
Bottom line: After 12 months, this set is still performing as perfectly as the day I got it. If you need a new mouse/keyboard, or simply wish to go wireless with said peripherals, this set is just versatile enough for me to recommend to anyone. (...and I don't usually review products online unless I REALLY think they deserve praise and/or criticism.

Ever since wireless combos came into existence, I would never buy one because of the performance, connectivity or installation problems other users personally I know were having. As a computer tech, I assessed each combo I came across and never found one I felt I wanted to own. This combo changed my mind.
I can lay the keyboard flat and "play it like a piano keyboard, installation was like magic, I can easily switch the combo from one to the other of my four laptops without a glitch, and the price was hard to beat.
My one complaint is the mouse is a little "high in the instep" for people with small hands (like mine) but that is a problem with all standard sized mice.

The mouse hurts my wrist they replaced my product with this one and I am not too cool with the features they are totaly differnt than my old set and the mouse is smaller which is causing my wrist and hand to really hurt. I am getting used to the keys on the keyboard excet the side keys are no longer there which doesn't really matter cause I never used them at all so the keyboard is great actually helps my arms not hurt but the mouse could be larger where the palm rest on it

I was looking at two keyboards in the store, one from Microsoft and this one from Logitech, they were two competing products of the same range (same priced Wireless Keyboard & Mouse combos).
While the Microsoft buttons felt cheap, the Logitech buttons felt sturdy and yet quiet. The Microsoft product had the Function keys all bunched up together and small, trying to squeeze some extra keys in - which ended up making it very very hard to use the F keys without looking (plus they felt "wobbly" and cheap). The Logitech F keys are a little smaller and rounded, but I barely noticed when using them as they just felt natural to use still. The Logitech keyboard has great F key spacing and just added a special FN key to use with the Function keys. I do however with that the Logitech F keys were still a tiny bit concave. I know they're smaller but it would feel more natural and easier if they just had a tiny dip in them.
Now to stop the comparison and just talk about this Logitech Product for a bit: The extra keys on this Logitech prduct that let you instantly launch some of your most used products (Caldulator, Notepad, or whatever you feel like assigning otherwise, everything is completely customizable) are really nice.
The Palm Rest is great for me - I use the keyboard from anywhere around the room in my lap and so the palm rest comes in very handy.
I don't use the Mouse that much because I have another Logitech one with far more features. The one that comes with this is a solid mouse it just doesn't have much extra. It has the standard two buttons and scroll wheel / press button wheel. Not that you can expect a whole lot, my other mouse cost more than this whole setup afterall. And the Mouse that comes with this still is comfortable and has a nice high performance laser rather than some of the lesser optical mice you see around.
While I would like to see some more keys and a slightly upgraded mouse (more buttons), you can't expect everything for this cheaper price and so for the price to use ratio this is a really great setup. You get a really good product overall and yet if something happens to it you aren't out a lot of money and can get another one.
I really like the feel of the keyboard a lot. They keys are layed out well, have plenty of extras, still with good spacing without being crowded and the keyboard isn't even extra large to accomidate them. It's a slightly more streamlined setup that has all the features and extra buttons and yet it's the same width as other keyboards that squish things all together. Your "Insert, Delete, Home, End, Pageup, Pagedown" keys are back to a normal layout here instead of the squished up two wide layout some other keyboards use and yet the keyboard isn't any wider than the squished up ones are.
The hardware all links up to the same tiny little USB plug. No more big plugs sticking out, this thing is seriously tiny and yet has great range and is made to pick up other logitech products as well to link them all through it.
The quality is great for the price especially. This is fairly inexpensive. Even if you don't use the mouse, it's really nice to have an extra around just in case.
I'd like more features (a few extra gaming keys, one more button on the mouse) but honestly that's being a little greedy for the price point it's set at. Really for the price you can't go wrong here. And it's so much better than competitor products at this level it's hardly worth comparing them once you try them all out. Actually if the mouse had just one extra side button it would get a 5. It's so above other products at this price level it's silly to say that, but it would still be nice.
Also the F keys *could* feel a little better. The size isn't bad, but they left them rounded on top and so your fingers sort of feel as if they want to slip off (they don't slip off but they feel as if they want to). If they were concave a bit your fingers would settle on them easier and it would bring the whole thing up and I'd give the Ergonomics a 5. That's the one single thing holding that back from a 5 for me. I'd understand if there was another row of keys (such as a set of G keys above it) and so to differentiate them one was rounded, but there's only F and despite the smaller size they should have been a little concave.
These are very small nitpicks about it and still for this price it's just overall great. I'd buy it again in an instant. I'm very happy with my choice in this product.

Researched this product extensively prior to purchase. The layout is very good. The touch is responsive, It is very quiet. It is very easy to set up and install the software. I love the Unifying receiver, it is the best I have used. Range is what is claimed. The alerts for the Cap lock and Num lock, etc. are novel, and better than others I have used. At first I thought the FN key would be a problem, but it wasn't, and I quickly adjusted to it's use. It is a very professionally constructed unit. It is comfortable to use ergonomically, and it is able to keep up with my keyboard speed. I was a little curious of the rounded keys, but now regard them as a plus. I like the mouse, it is simple, has good weight, and very responsive. It was refreshing to see that the software was uncluttered and easy to use. I would recommend this combo to anyone. Many features! Excellent buy!

It is a good product. Function keys are good and have lots of hot keys and produce less noise.
