not compatible with skype!
Date:May 30, 2012
At first we thought this was a wonderful idea, seeing family in Europe from the living room!
We got home and set it up - was super easy! Went on line to access our skype account, only to find that they were not compatible!
We have not had success contacting anyone with it. We discovered our friends and family have to invest in the right equipment to be able to communicate with us on the HD CAM.
Cannot understand why Logitec are trying to reinvent the wheel here! EVERYONE uses Skype! Why go make it so complicated?
Hopefully Logitec will see sense and make this compatible and provide some kind of software download so we can actually use the product we bought!!!!
Love the keyboard and revue though. We are having alot of fun with it. I love how the kids can use the computer in the living room and I know what they are doing on it.
Great product, no need to reinvent the wheel though. The picture is great, just wish we could share it!

Cam View
Date:December 29, 2010
The cam was easy to set up. Attach to the Logitech usb port and start the cam software follow the prompts with your GMail and it is up. Great picture, but if there is a window with direct sunlight in the background, it will glare through the TV. Soft electrical light is ok. There is a built in mic either the Revue or the Cam, I am not sure exactly where, but it dose seem to work very good. If someone calls your GMail voice then it will page you, provided you leave your account active. The bottom line is that it is relatively simple to setup, it gives a great picture in HD, and it is easy to use.

Excellent Quality

This product is excellent. I have had a TV cam before but it doesn't hold a candle to this one. The HD quality is amazing for a TV cam. The sound quality is GREAT! I love the way that it sits on top of the TV. Overall is is very easy to use and is a great addition to any Logitech Revue!

My favorite part of Revue
Date:December 11, 2010
Be warned: You will be surprised how weird your living room suddenly looks.
The Logitech TV Cam is packaged nicely (the attached velcro cable tie was a nice touch). It's very easy to connect and setup. Amazingly easy.
I love the remote control zooming in and out, and panning back and forth. The picture quality was fantastic. We connected with someone on her computer and she said it looked like she was watching TV, not a jittery webcam.
My concern was over privacy issues, and whether or not you could be invisible to others. I don't always need to be "available". The answer is yes, it's like changing your status on your IM account.
It's a great product, but again, you'll suddenly be thinking about filling up some blank space on your walls with artwork.
I recommend placing the webcam lower, like at the bottom of the TV to not get your ceiling in the picture.

One Heck of a Cam!
Date:December 7, 2010
We have had the HD Vid Cam for a couple of weeks and used it to call my brother. Installation was a breeze and it integrated instantly with the revue and my TV. I simply put my brothers email in the system and up popped a picture of him...cool! I had to call him to let him know that I was now on the system and since he already had an older Logitech Cam he was also signed up with Logitech. He then downloaded the free software from Logitech and we were talking in minutes. His cam had lower resolution so his picture on my 60" Sony TV was a litle soft but fantastic. The 720p from my Logitech cam looked great in the box on the TV and my brother mentioned how great it was from his end. The really amazing thing about this Cam was its ability to display a great and bright picture of me sitting 10' away in a darkened room. It looked very bright on the TV. Pretty amazing. The sound was fantastic also. I could also zoom in on my sitting position if I wanted to show just my head (as it would be on a monitor mount cam). I much preferred showing myself sitting in a distance from the cam. All in all a pretty amazing tool. I'm going to enjoy connecting with more friends and family using the Cam. I have a feeling this will give everyone the chance to commicate using video in a very relaxing way. My brothers picture on the 60" TV was almost life-size!! This Revue-Cam combo is just amazing. I'm looking forward to all of the Android apps on their way to the Revue and Cam. Highly recommended!

Great Camera---But...
Date:December 5, 2010
I have had my Logitech TV Cam (& Revue) for about a week. The picture quality coming from my end has been fantastic and the audio has been acceptable. However, trying to video chat with my in-laws in another state using Logitech Vid HD software on their laptop has not been successful yet.
We keep getting an error message saying their computer is not powerful enough to send video. This is particularly frustrating since we successfully video chat with them using Skype & Gmail video chat on a regular basis. The recommended settings found in the online support materials did not solve the issue. We have been successful communicating with other computers from our Revue.
I hope other video chat apps will be developed for the Revue soon and the true potential of this great camera can be realized.
Very pleased with the quality of the video camera. Not pleased at present with the quality of the desktop software.

TV camera with Revue
Date:December 4, 2010
I really like the design and build quality of the camera. I received it in a package of products to review, and I think the camera is great. However, i don't think I'll be using it with the Revue at least as far as using it with Logitech VID. It seems weird to me to ask family and friends to have to download another piece of software to use VID when it's SO EASY to just use Google video chat and not have to another piece of software to accomplish the same feature set.
I'll be happily using the camera for Google chat and Sykpe for the foreseeable future.

The TV Cam works great with Vid, but there should be other apps that it should work with like Skype.

Great Cam but not so useful for now
Date:December 3, 2010
This is a good product but investing about $150 in this product is not justifiable. I liked this for its high quality video and audio quality and easy to use and VID account setup. Main problem I face using it as not many people have VID account and you have to ask them to create one. It would have been great if it is well integrated with Google talk & Video chat. I could have found a lot people to show off the quality and ease of this product. So bottom line is that it seems little bit costly (around $100, will be good) and integration with Facebook and Google chat will give it a much needed boost in the market.

Excellent quality webcam, easy Revue integration
Date:November 30, 2010
I was excited to use the TV Cam connected to our new Logitech Revue, so I set up a couple of video chats with family members that I regularly chat with. The experience was excellent and I'd not hesitate to recommend this products.
I was able to sit back on the couch and chat, instead of being stuck in the computer chair and forced to have the family crowd around when we all wanted to be part of the conversation. This made the conversations much more relaxed and it was easy to bring people into the conversation that are sometimes more uncomfortable with video chat.
I asked all of them what they thought of the picture and sound quality they where receiving and each one of them commented that the colors looked clear and true. With the webcam on the computer, everything comes through with a yellow-red hue that doesn't look natural. In the same kind of lighting, the picture they received was clear and the colors where very natural looking. They all commented that they had no trouble hearing anyone in the room, either.
The housing for the camera seems to be a little bit excessive, but maybe that contributes to the sound quality that gets picked up through this webcam.

This works great for allowing the family to not only talk, but see each other. Great picture and sound. My only complaint is that not enough people have it and that it doesn't use a standard IM protocol like Skype or Facetime to allow for compatibility with a lot more users.

Living Room Video Conferencing Made Easy
Date:November 21, 2010
Just got the Video Camera with the Logitech Revue.
Talking to the parental units just got a lot more comfortable. No longer do we need to call ahead, huddle around the Mac to have a nice video chat.
Setup was easy - even for the parents in Seattle (which is saying something). The parents in Seattle set up the service to use on their MAC - worked like a charm!
Video and Audio quality was great. Even with bandwidth issues - the video service recognized the limited bandwidth and smartly suggested shrinking the size of the video box displayed. We've been using iChat, which is good, but the quality of the Logitech Vid was much better.
My only complaint - not enough of my friends have one!
