Like it,but one improvement
Date:July 5, 2012
I really like the stand. One improvement would be to have rechargeable batteries. The power cord is very short, so I rarely use it as a speaker. The iPad is meant to be portable and this stand should be too. Love it otherwise. Very sturdy. Never worry about my iPad falling over.

Logitech Speaker Stand does not work with SKYPE
Date:June 9, 2012
I was very disappointed to discover that the Logitech Speaker Stand for iPad DOES NOT WORK WITH SKYPE.
When calling, the ring tone comes through the speakers and then as soon as video call is accepted, the sound switches back to iPad speaker.

The black and brushed aluminum match the iPad very well. The device also feels well made, sturdy, and not cheap even though the "list" price is only $69.99. It holds your iPad firmly and allows it to be rotated easily between landscape and portrait orientations. Even when only being used to charge the iPad, it presents a quality look.
The sound quality is not as good as a $400 speaker arrangement but it certainly sounds much better than the speakers in the iPad and better than one might expect. With the "default" iPad settings, I feel the sound is a little "tinny" and totally lacks bass, but by going in to the
iPad "settings",
selecting "music",
then "EQ" (Equalizer),
and finally selecting "Small Speakers",
most of the "tinny"-ness is gone and the bass is improved slightly. While another setting might be better for your specific type of music, this seems to me to give a reasonable overall improvement to the sound and, again, at this price point, is very acceptable.
I recommend this to anyone looking for a solid-looking charging docking station with speakers at a reasonable price.

Nice design, bad firmware features
Date:January 13, 2012
No way to turn off auto start play when speakers are turned on or ipad is connected to unit when speakers are on. FAQ on web site says to shut down background music apps. You cannot shut down the ipad built in music! This can cause many accidental music at inappropriate times if you do not always stay aware. And the lack of support for Facetime is a deal breaker. Sending it back today. Better luck next time logitech.

No Facetime Support
Date:December 27, 2011
I bought this for my family members to use with Facetime. Thought this would be great for my hard of hearing mom but it doesn't work with Facetime! Speakers work with music, video and games but when you make a call in Facetime they do not work. Very disappointed, they would have been great.

Versatile stand, good for video
Date:October 30, 2011
Securely holds the iPad2, and the landscape mode and built-in powered speakers make it especially useful for watching Netflix or other video. The speakers are not hi fi, but are much better than the iPad's internal speaker...they're on par with the speakers in a small flat panel TV.
Pros: Flexible vertical viewing angle, powers/charges the iPad when speakers are off. Swivel to landscape mode is very easy. Stand is heavy enough to provide a solid, stable base.
Cons: Swivel to landscape mode only works 90 degrees counterclockwise--can't rotate both directions (some apps require iPad to be rotated clockwise to its right side). I have to remove both my Belkin back cover and the front Apple SmartCover when the iPad is in the stand.

Needs to support Smart Cover
Date:October 20, 2011
I bought this stand because I like to watch Netflix on my iPad while working around the house. The speakers won't blow your socks off, but they are MUCH better than the ones built into the iPad. It is not battery powered, so you must keep it plugged in at all times.
I have two main complaints: 1. You have to remove the smart cover to dock it 2. Docking isn't the easiest thing in the world. You really have to guide it carefully. That's a side effect of the idiotic docking port on the iPad and the small amount of wiggle there is when sliding it into the gripping arms.
