Great Design Poor Quality

Date:March 25, 2013
I had the 900 for a month and was able to return it. Almost immediately it began re-booting when placed in the charging cradle. Then it started freezing. I did a safe restore of the firmware and re-setup my activities and devices, still kept failing.
My recommendation is stay away from this device! There is no excuse for the problems this device has!

Even my wife likes it

Date:March 14, 2013
I recently purchased the Harmony 990 to replace our Harmony 880. While I liked the 880 my wife and I love the 990. It is lighter, more responsive, easier to maneuver and since it has the capability to respond to commands through cabinet doors we are not forced to make sure we have an unobstructed path to the device we are trying to control. We use it to control other devices such as a DuraFlame heater as well. I am not a tech genius, however, I was able to program the remote and customize the buttons to perform our various activities without much difficulty.

1 year and counting

Date:December 26, 2012
After a friend recommended the One, we bought this 900 as a refurb. Loved the price compared to the normal price. Programming via the PC is fairly clear...and some fine tuning is needed to really make it foolproof. Works well and completely eliminated all remotes for our Directv DVR, Pioneer AV Receiver/Controller, Sony Blueray player with Wifi and our Sharp Aquos with Wifi. All do what they are supposed to very well. Battery life could be longer, but a charge lasts about a week and charging is no big deal in the included charge dock.

Won't Last Long!!

Date:November 29, 2012
Great product when it works, but all the good reviews are by people that have had them less than a month. Read the reviews by unhappy owners that have had their Harmony Remote for longer than 6 months. I paid $450 for a Harmony H1100, it should last longer than 3 years for that kinda cash.

Does NOT last!!!

Date:August 30, 2012
I purchase two Harmony 900 Remotes a year ago. When working they are great, but the problem is they do not work very long. I have gone through five, yes FIVE replacement units during this one year period. We do not abuse them so there is NO reason to go through this many remotes in such a short time!
Each time we have to process a replacement, we are without a working remote for at least a week or two. Doesn't sound like long, but when you are controlling multiple devices, it is a pain to go back to using several remotes (assuming you still have them all).
Good remote...TERRIBLE reliability! Almost $400 for a remote that won't last more than a couple months...NO THANK YOU! I'm done with Harmony! Very frustrated!

Too Delicate

Date:July 24, 2012
the one i bought failed after 6 months and was replaced under warranty. the replacement failed about 9 months later and since the total elapsed time was in excess of 1 year it was out of warranty.
It is a great remote but way too delicate and doesnt last. I have a good friend who bought one and the led screen has failed.
For the price of 350 i cant recommend it.

Disgruntled

Won't Last

Date:June 19, 2012
Purchased a Harmony 900 refurbished unit in December 2011. Set up was easy. Needed the RF to control equipment behind doors and worked as advertised for the most part. Didn't work well with a Zvox soundbar. Had to manually turn on the soundbar about half the time. Biggest problem with the remote is the quality. Died after 6 months and the refurbished units only have a 90 day warranty. Very pricey for what you get. Must have a lot of issues with new units as well, since they seem to always have refurbished units to sell.

Excellent Remote

Date:September 20, 2011
I read a lot of negative reviews about the remote but at the end decided to buy it refurbished. My set-up includes AV receiver, TV, BD player, XBOX 360, Digital Set Top Box (for Internet-based BG tv), and computer connected to the AV receiver to use the Windows Media Center with the TV. The remote hasn't had any problems controlling all of my equipment even after learning the commands from the set top box remote (it could not find the remote in its database). As you might guess I have some complicated activities to switch between these devices and once I set them in a correct way I haven't had any issues with it. Of course it took me two days to figure out how I want my activities set with all the details. The RF system works through a wall in the next room about 35 feet away. So far (3 weeks) no issues what so ever. The remote works the way it supposed to!
