Ill just try to keep this short and to the point so here we go.
Quality:
The mouse click feels just right not to hard but soft to press either. The scroll wheel for me tho feels a little bit to soft for me. The material its made from its not very gripy for me with dry hands but if i wet them with a little bit of water the mouse stick to my hand like glue. The glide on this mouse is fantastic I use a QCK mouse pad and it glides without much effort. The cable is not braided but its not stiff so it bends easily.
Features:
Features wise it has all you need for a plug and play mouse works right out of the box without the need for software with 4 dpi settings of 400/800/1800/3600 with 800 and 3600 being the native dpi settings and a polling rate of 1000hz but if you want more customization with the software you can make custom macros, dpi settings and lower polling rate if you so desire.
Performance:
This is were this mouse shines the precision and response in this mouse is excellent. I manly play FPS and RTS games the lOD is pretty low and no matter how hard i try i could not get this mouse to skip or in other words stop tracking so if you are a low sensitivity player this mouse is perfect.
Ease of use:
Its plug and play there is not much to say here really simple.
Ergonomics:
The mouse shape is were some people are turn down its either you hate it or love it for my hand the shape is perfect i can game for hours without experiencing much hand fatigue alto for me its a little bit heavy but nothing to extreme.
Overall Rating:
Overall this mouse is perfect had it for almost a year so far without any problems I highly recommend this product.

On its own, the G400 is a pretty good mouse. Smooth tracking, high dpi, highly ergonomic positioning of thumb keys, great shape that feels natural and allows countless hours of gaming without fatigue. It has a good grip surface, and looks pretty sleek.
Unfortunately, I hold my mice to higher standards, as I believe the Logitech G5 was the crowning glory of Logitech mice. I am a hardcore gamer and I work in the eSports industry with professional gamers from every genre of PC game, so I would say I am fairly experienced with what makes a gaming mouse the perfect extension of a competitive gamer's arm.
The tiny, subtle differences from the G5 mean I am still wishing for a G5 re-release:
The thumb buttons feel more bouncy, which lends it a flimsy feeling and adds a tiny amount of difference in tactile feedback on when the buttons are pressed and released, unlike the g5's hair trigger like instant bounce back.
The crucial difference for me is in the scrollwheel, however. The g5 and g7 scrollwheels are probably the best ever made for gaming: the left and right scrollwheel clicks, when rebound to replace middle button clicking, increase its efficiency, speed, and tactile feedback for the 300 apm gaming speeds of use.
The G5 scrollwheel takes minimal effort to push, without ever having to move my finger off of the right click landing, as it just takes the slightest leftward movement of my finger. Pushing down the scrollwheel on the g400, however, is noticeably more resistant, and, since it is more recessed, requires much more vertical motion. These minute differences add up when playing a high apm lighting fast game where the time between needing to push middle mouse and another key with the same finger needs to be absolutely minimal.
Perhaps I have simply worn my g5 down significantly, but every button just feels faster in terms of tactile feedback. If you question why tactile feedback and hair trigger response time can be so important, just take a moment to try a mechanical keyboard versus a membrane, or the Avenger controller addon for a console.
My only other issue with the g400 is that it is slightly heavier than I would prefer; one more reason to reproduce the g5!
Sorry to deviate the review to the g5, but of the dozens of professional gaming mice I have tried, it is still the paragon of perfection to which I compare all other mice.

Cord broken internally/intermittent (at mouse end) after only a few months use. Unusable now, thin cord is just not durable. Finish showed wear within a week, progressed extremely fast and looks far older/far more worn than my much much older MX518 . Not as solid a grip/feel as the old MX518.
Wish Logitech would simply bring the MX518 back (original DPI version, though updated feet would be OK). Am back to using my old MX518 now, was hoping to finally retire/upgrade it after many years of reliable service, but the G400 is just not a worthy successor (even aside from it dieing so quickly).
Logitech had it right with the original MX518, was (and still is) a 5 star mouse across the board to me. The G400 feels like a huge leap backwards in comparison unfortunately.

I've owned a couple of Logitech gaming mice over the years, and they've always proven to be great products. In fact, one of the first mice I bought was faulty. How is this a good thing, you ask? Well, their customer service was great at fixing the situation by sending me a replacement. They were quick to fix a bad situation, and I'm glad to have that safeguard when buying electronics sometimes.
My most recent mouse is a MX518, and it's been a great performer over the last few years. I can say that it's pretty durable too, considering it's lived through a few of my, um, tantrums. I never did mess with the customization software much, but it has a nice comfortable shape and the additional buttons are easy to use and well placed. If you can live without adjustable weights and the high prices of the "designer gaming mice" then this has to be once of the best values out there.

I have had 2 different MX518 mice, MX Revolution, and G5 Lazer mouse over the course of 8 years. The design and buttons have remained the same great shape they've been since I started using Logitech mice over Microsoft versions. The feet are the same as the most recent models of the 518 and slide easily across most surfaces. I love that the polling rate can now clock at 1000Mhz like most of the popular gaming mice out there. I love seeing that the DPI can be set all the way up to 3600, on par with most popular gaming mice.
The disappointment I have is in the software executions. Please don't get me wrong, I like how you can set profiles for each game that you have, assigning buttons to some keyboard functions (or macros) for ease of use. I however don't use the small thumb button for any sets and have it assigned to "Minimize Window" so I don't need to Alt-Tab out of a full screen game like Fallout3. On my previous MX518 the button would work in every game, and for any window I had open. In this current version the button will not execute the same way for Google Chrome, Fallout3, WoW, CS:S, TF2, Just Cause 2 and others. I hope that it can be remedied along with it not remembering DPI profiles. My MX518 still has some service until these can be fixed.

The first thing I noticed about this mouse in comparison to the somewhat older MX518 model was the ease with which it slid across my mousepad. The feet seem to have been improved from the previous versions. I can barely tap the side of the mouse and it will glide across the pad beautifully.
The specific shape of this mouse has been around for many years now. And there is a good reason it is still used today.
The shape of this mouse is exemplary. I found that it encouraged a hand posture which remains comfortable even over extended periods of time. I often used this mouse for many all-nighter gaming sessions and can not remember my hand hurting the next day from using this mouse. This can not be said for other mice, which I have found can give you quite a lot of cramping after extended sessions.
The side buttons on this mouse far surpass other models due to their shape and placement. As a gamer, I demand a lot out of the thumb buttons in particular on a mouse. They must be comfortable to press repeatedly even hundreds of times in a single session if need be. They must be easy to access. There must not be so many, or jammed so closely together, that I press the wrong one by accident.
The G400 lives up to that standard. Notice the placement of the thumb buttons. They sit just above where the thumb normally rests. This allows you to simply roll your thumb up a tiny bit to press either one.
Their shape is fairly wide, yet rounded. They lack the angular corners present on Logitech's other two gaming mice (currently the G500 and the G700). This means they are very comfortable during prolonged use. Finally there are not so many of them stacked upon one another that you will press the wrong one by accident.
I have seen complaints from people regarding the weight of this mouse. They are mistaken when they equate weight with quality. I found this to be a very well designed mouse. I once spilled a full cup of grape juice on one, and upon taking it apart for cleaning, noticed that its cleverly designed internal structure enabled it to survive such a disaster completely unscathed. Not one drop of liquid had made it to the electronic portions of the mouse. Although i doubt it would survive a dunking, the design of the casing makes it fairly difficult to destroy just by dropping liquid on top.
I have also noticed that Logitech made an attempt with this mouse to address the issue of the mouse cord eventually wearing out by placing a bit of tubing over the wire where it exits the mouse. Though this is not as good as a thicker rubber grommet would have been, it is much better than the previous MX518 design. Of course I will not know if it has truly fixed that particular issue until after 2 years or so of regular use.
My only complaint in regards to quality is the finish used on this mouse. The rubber coating and paint scheme is comfortable and lends itself well to giving your hand an easy surface to hold on to.
But from experience after several years of use and exposure to the oils of the skin, it will start to wear away, making the mouse start to look terrible as the rubber and paint is worn off. The finish of the MX518 was more durable in this regard for at least the top surface of that model was a much more durable shiny finish. And the G7 wireless (which sadly, Logitech no longer manufactures) had the most durable finish of all.
The updated sensor engine is welcome, and the software which accompanies it is simple and easy to understand. Although others have mentioned the lack of ability to toggle angle snapping, I have not found it to be a problem at all. The angle snapping is so minimal you will honestly never even notice it is there. I do work in graphic art and work with cad programs and have encountered no negative issues using this mouse. It is Very precise and accurate, even doing work on individual pixels is no problem.
All together this is an exceptionally well designed mouse. I feel confident recommending it to everyone. Gamer and non-gamer alike. This is a wonderful mouse to own.

While I'm a fan of the mx500 over the newer mx518, this g400 is a decent update to an already great line-up of mice.
The quality is always great coming from logitech, performance is on par with the former mx518, and the ergonomics of it are something that i have yet to see matched or exceeded.
However, the mouse is seriously lacking in features that have proven to be important to many gamers today. The biggest concern is the inability to disable angle snapping on a hardware or software level. I was extremely surprised by this knowing how many requests for a 518 without angle snapping were present before this release and am very disappointed.
The other issue is not being able to adjust the polling rate to 500hz on a hardware level. The software must be installed for it to save correctly. 1000hz is a total of 1ms faster at the cost of a ton of CPU resources being used versus 500hz.
If you can see past these issues, I highly recommend this product as it is truly a great mouse. Though I would absolutely like to hear an update as to why logitech decided not to incorporate these features into a brand new gaming mouse.

I have never seen a mouse that is so smooth and it is so easy to use and perfect for gamers. As soon as i saw this mouse I knew it was gonna be a long lasting one. I have not had one problem with it and it never stops working and the eight programable buttons are easy to use in game. Pros: EVEYTHING
