Love this device so far - if you have kids and or wife who always asks you to help them with tv, movie etc you will love it - case in point. Daughter walks in today has standard remote in hand asking for help getting the guide on screen, as if the guide button she presses every day has moved... Lol. So I press guide and she says, thanks looking at me in the other room as if how did you do that. Then 30 sec later asked me to turn it off - I did. Worked like a charm....
So here is my actual review:
What I like:
Access from any iOS device - we have multiple iPads,iPhones, iPod touches in the house and are already using them for controlling our lights, cameras, baby monitors, thermostats etc and this just feels right for us.
Setup was very easy/simple compared to some of my $500 remotes from the past and just works out of the box for my HDTV, Uverse, ps3(adapter required), sound bar, & apple TV. Very happy.
IPhone app gets the job done and allows access to all commands on my original remotes. iPad app is pretty awesome! Very easy to find what I want and gets me to it fast. (judging from others bad reviews, maybe there have been a few updates since its release...
Apple tv & soundbar support has been flawless so far.
PS3 watch a movie activity is working like a charm - my 5 month old could start a movie with this thing. Click watch movie insert DVD and it just starts.....
Replaced 5 remotes painlessly, can access from any room, turning down tv when kids have it to loud etc - love it.
What I don't like:
I'm a tech guy so I would like full macro support to automate activities even further.
Would like the ability to customize iPhone app buttons further.
Overall I am very satisfied with this product.

First, app crashes on iOS more often than most apps. But above all, the iOS app attempts to be. TV Guide as well as a remote, and ends up doing neither well.
Suggestions: - make no assumption about the on/off state of my appliances. Always give me the on/off toggle option, up front. TVs get turned on and off by many other remotes, not just harmony link.
- delete the Tv Guide feature. Downloading the content takes too long if all I want to do is turn the TV off.
- use the whole iPad screen, so I don't have to scroll down a vertical list to go from TV to DVD to STB buttons. You can use the screen real estate currently devoted to Tv Guide functionality.

While this device offers some incredible features, it seriously lacks in quality. It does not currently support ICS android operating system and the software it operates on often has connectivity issues. It has no tablet interface on android and the app for the android phones often loses settings or forgets that your device is paired with the link.

Used the Harmony One for years but had many problems with it, always having to show my wife what to do. We got new entertainment system and installed Harmony Link, now she can do everything all by herself. Better yet, we can control all components from another room, even not in direct line of sight with our cabinet. The IR blaster included with HL does an amazing job of controlling all gear (4 things) but needed to get additional IR for the TV, but that's no problem because the HL gadget has 2 IR jacks. Works best on an iPad, but fine on the iPhone too. Only problem is that if the iThing is set to auto lock, then you have to wake it and enter the code, etc. before you can turn down the volume, etc. I set mi iPhone to Never, but it might not be a bad idea to have this option within the HL app, so that when you are using the remote the iPhone/iPad doesn't go to sleep.

There is mixed reviews here on the Harmony Link and for that matter the Harmony 1100. In reading the reviews it seems like a gamble whether one should buy this thing or not!
I have used the 1000 and now I am now the proud owner of the Link and I love it!!
I find the Link much easier and more intuitive experience than the 1100.
The setup was pretty much pain-free, though I did have prior experience in setting up the Harmony 1000. Regardless, if you do a little prep work of collecting the model number of all of your devices and the settings of your equipment you will save yourself a lot of time and headaches. There were a few hiccups in getting connected to the harmony system, but it wasn't anything major and everything was happy in no time.
I've used other apps for iOS, which come with dongles and such which are clunky and inconvenient. Overall, this is the best integration of a universal remote of any kind, including hardware based models. Also, the beautiful interface on the iPad makes this a winner.
Go for it...you won't regret it.

Alright, first things first. I love the device. Many said this could not replace all remotes, but it has replaced six for myself. Works great as described. Its just lacking a few features that would make this a must own.
Laptop Control iPad, custom button layout, similar to iphone
Everything else works great and I love the product. Given, I did stop using my android device with it because the iOS apps were superior. Overall, just please bring those features and I'll be one happy customer.

Purchased this last night. I currently have a Harmony One. I was disappointed to see I had to create a new account. You should reward previous customers, not make them set up everything again. After that, I created a new account, however the link never connected. I restarted my computer, as well as tried on another computer. Sad to say this will be returned.

Especially if you have an iPad...but maybe the same for the iPhone...this product is virtually a must to have. (I don't have anything Android based I'm afraid) The value that you get back from having it far exceeds it cost. I will say though, the app associated with the Link leaves a lot to be desired as many have already said. However...with as many apps that are available for the i devices..you can find apps for your devices that will make up for it. Once I got it all setup, and got the proper apps, my iPad and iPhone are collectively working far better then even the highest end Harmony remotes (when I bought them anyways) that I've had like the 1100. Value vs Cost makes this purchase a definite "no-brainer".

Let me say first that the link is a five star product if you're only going to use one and not multiple links for multiple rooms.
I sold my Harmony 1000, IR Repeater, and bluetooth module thinking that the Link would be my perfect automated home with control from my iPad solution. I was wrong.
The first one worked great after a call to tech support to get them to set some delays for me (something you can't do on the link but can do on the 1000). However, once I bought a second link for the bedroom I realized that something was horribly wrong.
In order to control a second link you have to create a separate account with a separate email address. Then when you want to switch rooms from your IOS device you have to go to another menu, select the other account, enter a password, etc. EVERY TIME.
Logitech, There is a better way to do this. Give the app a multiroom options where it asks what room you'd like to control if you have mutliroom setup. That way I could switch between bedroom, living room, etc. easily. You do this and I'll buy back the link I'm returning plus some. Otherwise this device is a huge FAIL for tech geeks who would happily pay the low price for high control. Get it together Logitech!

Product: Harmony Link. Mine was working great on both the ipad and iphone until I had to replace my home DSL modem. It all went downhill from there when I tried to reset my harmony link to new WIFI. The user friendly interface did not work and tech support was a joke. For whatever reason, the iphone/ipad app is missing the sync option so you can't sync your mobile device back to the harmony link. Unfortunate but recommend waiting till Harmony works out their app bugs before purchasing this product.

Goes off and on with Harmony's servers. Synced mine today trying to fix and got someone elses email synced onto my system by Logitech servers.
It's a fricking remote, it's not supposed to be this hard. When they were working, they were a 5 on a 1-10. Great concept. Poor execution.
Returning them today.

Ok, I believe the Harmony Link is getting a really bad rap. My Harmony One LCD screen recently cracked and is not repairable as it is an older version of the remote and Logitech does not repair remotes in general. I spoke with numerous remote control repairmen and each one told me the model is just too old at this point via PID#. Instead of dropping another $160 plus on another One I decided to go with the Link as it is cheaper and I already have two iPhones and an iPad, soon to be two.
Like I said to begin with, I believe it is getting a bad rap. Is it perfect? Not yet, but as a friend of mine who builds systems pointed out the Link does what only a $1,000 Crestron device currently does and the Link does it for right around $100. It is so far ahead of it's time that it is pretty ridiculous. I'm not looking to jump the gun here as I just rec'd mine this morning and have been tweaking it since I set it up this morning. It is now sitting directly on top of my Directv box and is working almost perfectly. It does not have the same response time as the actual directv remote, but it does control multiple devices at once as I have a stereo system, tv, dtv box and PS3 that it is currently working with. My Harmony One didn't have the best response time either.
Some people complain about the iPad app, some the iPhone app. They are different apps in general and the iPhone is more of a basic control app and the iPad app is beautiful as it shows what is on via show logos and descriptions. It also gives you the option to "Watch Now" and it will change the channel for you. The iPhone app does not have the same layout by any stretch, but really does accomplish everything you could ever expect it too. I am very impressed by the functionality of both apps.
If you are using a Mac and Safari to setup, may I recommend using Firefox as I kept getting a server error via Safari, but Firefox was flawless. I find the myharmony.com site just as functional as the prior software was to set the Link up.
I do have some general wi-fi issues in my family room where everything is setup, but will be adding an Apple Express to extend my signal and I could only assume that will strengthen my Link's capabilities and also make my directv box wireless.
So, 8 hours after getting my Link I am a pretty happy camper. I am hoping to upgrade this to 5-stars once I've used it a little while longer. I didn't want to go totally crazy as I did have a few speed bumps, but if it continues to function and only improve from here on out you'll see this bump up to 5-stars.
One last thing, if you have directv, tell the setup that you DO NOT have the original remote and it will program it automatically. This will make your button pushes more seamless and offer less of a delay. Be patient as, like I said before, it won't give you the same response time, but it really does offer a wonderful alternative to having one less remote/device sitting around the house to lose.
Give it a shot. You can always return it if you don't like it. I don't believe I will be returning mine. Enjoy!

I bought this last night as I was going in to Best Buy to get a Harmony remote and did not realize there was even a Harmony Link to pick. So, I decided I'd give it a try.
First off the setup was nice. Easy to do and step by step. This thing even controls an HDMI switch I picked up! Was not expecting that! When I press a button it is lightning fast. No delay at all. All this being said it does what it does and it's very good at it.
Personally I cannot stand. Let me repeat that. I cannot stand the iPhone version of the software. The iPhone is able to do so much more than just be a button center. Other reviewers say it should be more like the other Harmony remotes, but I think that defeats the purpose of having it on a device such as the iPhone that is capable of so much more. On the iPhone however it is just that. A big glob of great and black buttons.
I borrowed my girlfriend's iPad to see if there was a difference in the software and I was blown away. It was simply amazing. I LOVE the built in guide. Being able to see the cover art of the programs is super cool and the functionality of it is just great. The controls are neatly hidden on the right side of the screen and are just a swipe away. My only question to Logitech is why did you dumb down the iPhone version so much?? I know it can be done in a manner that looks good... just look at Peel's app/device and you can see.
Unfortunately I'm taking this back to Best Buy tonight when I get home. I don't have an iPad and I want the bells and whistles of a colorful guide and easy to use controls.
I'm only taking one star away because honestly the iPhone version is so lacking in features and content and there is no reason for this. Going to try Peel tonight and see how fast my devices respond to it. Such a shame... I would love to keep this.

This was the last piece need to complete my home theater. I use it with my 70 in sharp, 7.2 Yamaha, PS3 (with harmony PS3 adapter), and Atlantic scientific cable box. Only issue I had was that my wifi router is in the back of the house. Although my PS3 still ran Netflix with no issues the harmony link needed a stronger signal. So I purchased a trednet signal booster for $41.00. That fixed all the issues. The link gives you at $100 what most $400 remotes do.

Bought 1st one on 12/11; it didn't receive device remote commands. Logitech paid for UPS pickup and return. Second bought 12/19--worked like a charm! Setup with a Mac at the Logitech web site was annoying--web software needs improvement, but the iPhone and iPod touch app is great. Takes some learning, but they followed Apple's design guidelines, so it's slick. I didn't like the iPad version. The controls and layout are great, but the program content stuff is a pain. My DVR and cable service have an adequate guide, so its one button. The Link earned all the stars, but it will take you two weeks to learn all the little nuances before you will agree. I'm sure they'll clean up the iPad version. Note also that you can set up a bunch of remotes, but don't start any remote wars. It's really nice that you can control your devices anywhere your wireless network extends. Hear the system just after you went to bed? Just get your iPhone/iPod touch and shut it off.

After reading some negative reviews, I still went ahead to purchase the product as I've always wanted my home electronics to be controlled using my iOS devices.
I had some issues with setting up initially. The problem was human impatience. You see, the initial setup - whether it's for a firmware upgrade or syncing of device information, just let it sync. It might take 7-10 mins. Never cancel sync or upgrades midway.
Once you've got everything setup, trust me its a solid performer.
Mind you I am using it in Malaysia, so the programme guide doesn't really help - but the remote bit of the app still works perfectly and there is really minimal lag when controlling devices from iOS devices.

This is an awesome idea but the software still needs a lot of work. The biggest issue is that the app is trying to be something that is should not be - a program guide. Logitech : ** PLEASE ** stick with what you do best - remote controls! The biggest annoyance is that the remote control buttons don't show up until *after* the app loads the program guide. This means that if, for some reason, the program guide can't be downloaded quickly, you sit there and wait for the guide to load before you can control anything.
Here are some of the issues that need to be improved on:
- load the remote control buttons *first*. I could care less about the program guide (p.s. it's woefully incomplete), so I need the remote control functions to pop up asap!
- give the user the option to have the remote bar showing the minimum number of buttons, middle number of buttons or all buttons exposed on startup rather than always starting with the minimum number.
- make the HD on/off persistent across sessions or preset in the options - who watches SD anymore!?!? Turning on HD every time the app starts is *really* annoying.
- not that I care all that much about the guide part, but give the option for smaller icons and more of a list format. Especially when all three panes of the remote control are exposed.
- Don't have the guide partially obscured when the remote buttons are exposed - resize the guide to fit on the left side of the screen.
- what about a customizable favorites?
- As with all Harmony remotes, you use a web based applet to program your devices. However, when done, you have to connect the iPad app to sync the changes... huh? This is true despite the fact that you are already connected to the physical remote with a USB cable (you don't need to the USB cable all the time, but I use the Media PC to program the device and keep the USB cord plugged in all the time).
- the "My Harmony Link" page that you use to program the device *does not* run in Safari on the iPad... !!!!! Conversely to the point above, it would be nice to make small tweaks on the iPad and resync if needed... instead, I have to break out the laptop or connect to the Media PC to program the changes and then sync with the iPad... what a mess.
- There is no way to rearrange the activities on the power on menu of the app.
Hopefully, these reviews make it back to the designers/developers.
