The G25 is a beautiful wheel in design, ergonomics, and presentation. Unfortunately for the hardcore simulation racing crowd it doesn't quite cut it.
If I was the engineering team behind it, it would drive me crazy to have designed such a beautiful product, then had bean counters make them spec $1 or $2 Potentiometers in the product's pedal system that only last for 6-9 months over heavy use.
They will degrade. You can NOT buy replacements from logitech. Eventually, you will be opening the Pedal case, and blowing out the pots with contact cleaner or, as I do, compressed air, every few days.
When you are competing against the best simracers in the world, you do NOT want to give up 5-10% of your pedal travel intermittantly, which is what happens eventually. (around 1000 hours of use.)
It will work for you wonderfully for the first few months, or indefinately under light use.
I won't likely purchase the G27. I would highly doubt the Potentiometers have been upgraded. Lots of bells and whistles, but not much substance.

I bought my G25 more than a year ago, and it's still doing well, I use it every day, regardless if the game has no shifter support. The wheel is very ergonomic and the paddles fit to my hands quite well. I also have made a wooden support for the shifter module, to make it even more ergonomic than having the shifter on a desk.
the plastic holders slip, regardless of what wheel from Logitech, putting a piece of soft rubber or high friction tape between the holder and the desk should fix the problem. It worked for me, and my desk is made of hollow wood coated with plastic-based paint.
It took me a week to get used to the wheel, the H-gate shifting and the 900° steering especially.
I used to have a Momo before my G25, and it worked quite well, until the wheel's force feedback motor short circuited.
The wheel was better than I thought it was, I thought the shifter would snap like a twig, and comparing to the Fanatec Porsche wheels, someone from a forum I regularly visit, actually had to replace the full Fanatec Porsche wheel setup at least 3 times in one year, and his shifter (and warranty-covered replacements) snapped many times as well.
The things that are being drawbacks are the paddles that feel quite loose, and the clicking shifter (when putting in gear) which I know can be fixed by inserting a soft object in the shifter mechanism. The shifter also feels a little flimsy as well, so I always try to shift as lightly as possible.

I've had my G25 for about a year now, I race in professional leagues online so it gets used a couple hours a day minimum between practice and races.. so this thing can take a lot of wear and tear.. I run endurance races of aggressive driving up to 2-3 hours per stint and my hands don't hurt, perfectly designed wheel.
I was worried about the paddle shifters wearing from the amount of driving i do but they have held up great, almost like new.
If you're on the fence about purchasing the G25, do it you will have no regrets and a ton of fun! My poor MOMO.. RIP

First off, there is only 1 thing I didn't like about the wheel. The 6 speed Shifter, should've been made out of metal, or had more metal; it feels cheap, and looks like it wont take much abuse. The wheel itself is wonderful, finally a wheel with a large amount of rotation, closer to a real car. The 3 pedals, wonderful. Finally a clutch, a real clutch! The ability to put the shifter into sequential / 6 spd is amazing, well thought out for people who like manual but not the whole package. I used to have a MOMO wheel from Logitech, still sold according to them for 99.99. It was alright but the shifter broke on it, again lack of metallic components. The paddle shifts on the G25 are great, mine broke on my Momo wheel, well one side did, hoping these ones will last longer. I've always had a positive experience with Logitech, whether it be buying, servicing, or support, I have never had any issues other than the usual annoying stuff to prove you bought the hardware. i've had them replace a G15 Keyboard, didn't have to send it in, just showed pics and proof of purch. and they sent me a new one, took very little time, the staff has always been very helpful and responsive with me. I hope they will continue to uphold their support in that manner should something happen with my wheel.

The Logitech g25 is the best wheel out there. Ive had my wheel for about a year, and being only 14 years old it has helped me learn how to drive a manual car. Also it works on all 3 of my systems(PC,PS3,PS2).
From racing on GTR2 or just racing on Gran Turismo 5 this is the wheel to get.

I have owned almost every big named wheel that has been out since the PS One and I have gotr to say, without a doubt, the G25 is dead on.
I have had the Mad Catz whels, and every Logitech wheel ever made.
Now, Bad things first....I have had the G25 for over 2 years now and I have done some pretty intense racing on titles like GTR, GTR2, NASCAR SimRacing, Need For Speed: Most Wanted, Pro Street, Test Drive Unlimited, and many others. I have used both the GT Force Pro and the G25 on GT4 and the G25 is far superior to the DFPro, in every way.
Anyway.....the only problems I have had from he wheel is in the shifter. The little platic grommet that holds up the leather boot slid down and got in the way of the shifting channels, so I was not able to shift gears, easy fix, just opened it up and did what I needed to do to fix it. The other problem is when I placed the shifter into "Sequential" mode, it is way too sensitive and I have to push up on it hard to get it to shift whereas when I shift down I have to be very careful, as it shifts down at the slightest touch.
Now, for the good....Like I said, I have multipe title driving exp. and lots of time on all of them, all but NASCAR SR and Test Drive Unlimited I have completed all games to entirety.
The G25 has been able to up my game by so much, my time on this one track (can't remember which one) went from 1:30 something down to 1:10 something. I credit that to the much better gearing/transmission they have put on the steering, it's so much quieter and responsive, this wheel can go from lock-lock in about 1.5 seconds, where the DF Pro took about 3 seconds and was LOUD and hard to steer in technical situations. The Pedals have been set in one place and have not moved one inch since I placed them (on carpet). The feel of the pedals is as close to real life as you can get, and if you really wanted to, you can take the pedals out of their plastic case and set them on a rig however you like them. all in all, this wheel will not only amp up your game, but it gets you in it with style and performance that is only available on wheels that cost 10x as much as this one.....yes there are other wheels out there that cost as much as $800USD just for the wheel itself and then the whole system will cost you around $1500-$2000USD.
Get this wheel if you want your game to be as real as possible and not break your bank doing it.

On paper, it seems perfect, lots of leather, metal, separate 6 speed shifter compatible with PS3, PS@, PC, but it isn't that way. Firstly it is very expensive and at first the build quality does seem to match the price tag but after a few months, the leather on the bottom of the shifter has ripped and some other pieces of leather has started to peel off. Heel and toeing seems great at first until the pedals slide backwards, fine if you have a carpet floor cause it has a gripper, by if you don't, you have to get used to pausing the game and reach to align it up again. The force feed back is very good, subtle when playing GT5P even on the highest setting, but it is very good as it is not real life. The wheel is very noisy when in use and when you start it up, it needs to twirl every time which is annoying.
But the worst thing is the sheer amount of wires, when moving it around and setting it up, it feels as complicated as brain surgery.
If you can get it for a discount, maybe $350AUD like what I got it for I will recomend it, but if you have to pay the full $500, which is 4 time as expensive as the official GT one which has some features that the G25 doesn't have, it is hard to recomend.

I have to admit this wheel is great. I use it for racing simulators such as Live for Speed. Using it for an arcade style game such as Need for Speed or Burnout isn't as fun. It's just too high quality. The pedals feel solid, brake feels really nice and stiff, the clutch has that kick feel and the gas is just get on and go. My only issue is the shifter. It doesn't have that solid in gear feeling.

Where do I start?? The quality of the unit is great. I've had it for about a year now and been using it back and forth from the PS3 to the PC. The paddle shifters, sequential, and six-speed shifters all feel nice and fluid. The six-speed does have a little loose feeling but you get used to it quickly. The pedals feel really nice and quite realistic in terms of resistance to your feet. The force feedback on the wheel is pretty nice, and works well even with old games like Need for Speed Underground 2. Many options of the wheel like the looseness feeling, centering spring, etc. are changeable via the Logitech software. I highly recommend getting one, it will last very long and give plenty hours of racing goodness!!

this thing really packs a large punch, i mean, really, 900 degrees of rotation, clutch, 6 gear shifter? i have never even heard of a wheel with a 4 gear shifter, and this one's got six. I've definitely heard of 180 degrees of rotation, but 900? this thing goes all the way. and ease of use? just install the software, and drive. I'd call that simple. bottom line, just spend the 300 dollars, it is worth it.

I bought the Logitech® G25 racing wheel in July 2008 online from a British store for £180 (tax and next day UK shipping inclusive). It’s one purchase that cost me a lot cos I couldn’t find it on the Nigerian market & the store doesn’t ship to West Africa. I spent a lot on DHL shipping. My cousin had to ditch the original pack (which is quit big) cos it was gonna add to the shipping cost. In all, it cost me £305. However, the purchase was well worth the cost. As a racing enthusiast, I say, “this is the best racing wheel yet!” yeah, yet cos I have just one problem with it. The pedals. They should have bn spaced out more cos I often step on both the brakes and the clutch pedals when all I want to step on is the brake pedal. Every other thing about the wheel is perfect. I’ve bn using it on both my Laptop and my Playstation 3 with titles like Need For Speed Most Wanted, Need For Speed Undercover, Need For Speed Carbon, RFactor, Race Driver Grid and Burnout Paradise and everything including the force feedback works great. The Leather and brushed steel finish of the Steering wheel is so original my brother often cracks jokes about switching it with the steering wheel in his Acura TL =)) …. let’s see what Logitech comes up with next!

First off, when I bought this steering wheel, it was only 99 dollars. It was for my pc. I used it once, because the game I used it for did not utilize the the clutch, and the gearbox as much. Obviously I was disappointed, and I stowed away the wheel in my attic. 4 years later, I took it out for GT5. It is positively the best simulating experience ever. The shifts are flawless, the clutch is real time. Needless to say, the price of it is 300, I was lucky, But worth every penny if I bought it today.

Over the past years, I have owned many different wheels going back to some other off brands on my N64 system. I firmly believe this is the most realistic one out there. The quality is second to none, the feel of the controls is fabulous, and the overall performance is amazing. Compared to past force feedback wheels I have had, this one a very quiet. It also doesn't jiggle about when "working". My driving force wheel was always a little jiggly on center, had no real center point I guess. This one is very accurate at center. Also, the pedals feel great. They offer proper resistance, unlike past ones, though the travel is a little short. Have not played any games that use the clutch pedal yet, but GT5 prologue with the 6 speed shifter is about as real as it gets. Some of the quirks that people complain about, such as the hard to find reverse, are quirks that you find in a normal car, so thats fine by me. Overall, the best wheel I have ever used.
